How to come out to family overseas?

Hi I wanted advice on a practical level?

 

Most of my family live in different countries and I don't see them very often so I was just wondering what people think is the best way to come out to them is?

 

I can see advantages and disadvantages to whether I send an email, talk on the phone or video call or have to wait a long time until I can see them in person.

 

What do other people think?

I have family that is further away than seeing in person easily. I was going to take a hybrid approach to them. Give them a call and if they are home alone have them read an email I would send right then and there. That way I get my one way communication and can talk about it after.

Amber has a good idea.  I had a sister that lived too far to visit so I did a FaceTime (Skype) with her to let her know.  That way it was as close to face to face as possible.  I suppose it all depends upon how close you are to the people you want to tell.

Thanks for this. These are all immediate family so would be ones I am fairly close to. Would you say therefore advise setting up a proper call with them.

I would set up time that they will be in a quiet place that they can truly talk.
