How to avoid catching COVID-19?

So I need to get a refill for my HRT tomorrow before this crisis gets any worse, we've had 14 confirmed cases and more possible cases coming soon because of the events some of them attended during the weekend :( I have asthma so I feel like taking extra precautions are necessary for me, the problem is I don't have any gloves or face masks OR handsanitizer .... So i was wondering if anyone knows any creative solutions I could do to protect myself... Right now I've only come up with plastic bags tightly wrapped above my nose to under the chin, as well as a bag over each hand. I'm not sure if that'll help at all though.

The plastic bags are a bad idea, they will not work and can cause potential breathing harm themselves.  I have controlled asthma myself and all I have been told to do is get in, do business with a plan, and get out ASAP.  If your doctor could have the scrip filled at a small neighborhood pharmacy without a large people flow, that would help.  Big item is simply the longer you spend in risky areas the more chance of getting anything.  Maybe you could order ahead of time and just pick it up at the front cashier's desk, and add in the hand goo although I got told the soap alone will be the best.

Okay thanks Vicky! I'll put a hot damp cloth with soap rinsed into it then put it in a ziploc bag, then take it out right after whenever i touch something. I also cant seem to EVER stop touching my face no matter how many times i tell myself i have to stop. frig my life.

Yes, touching your face is not good but really hard not to do.  The best bet is to simply wash your hands after touching any potentially contaminated surface.  Soap and water is supposedly much better than hand sanitizer anyway, as long as you do it long enough.  If you have non-porous gloves that would help, as long as you don't touch your face with your gloved fingers.

None of this is foolproof, and like Vicky said, spending as little time outside the house is the best thing to do, but if you have to go out please try to avoid others if possible.

ngl, I spend 23 hours a day in my room anyways. but yeah the only thing I can think of touching is the buttons on the machine to pay & the bag which will have the pills inside. my store has a sliding automatic door so ill enter through that entrance, & if I see someone walking towards me, ill try to take an alternative route to avoid inhaling whatever they may have exhaled. I just genuinely thought plastic bags would be a big protection as they're practically impenetrable unless you had intents to tear it.

It seems that masks are better at keeping someone who has been exposed from passing the virus than they are at keeping you safe.  One of teachers from my grandson's school tested positive and one of his friends is sick.  I'm going to wear a mask when i go to get groceries this morning.  Hope to make the store early before many folks get there but we need food.

Soak a bunch of rubbing alcohol and put those in a zip lock to keep them moist.  Its the main ingredient in hand sanitizer that kills the virus.  If your not wearing makeup you can use these to clean your face as well or any skin for that matter.  Heck you can even wipe buttons down first.

Don't stress about the masks.  They are not a small enough micron level to stop a virus from penetrating at all  Not even close.  However the transmission of this virus is not technically "air borne" as it is transferred by larger droplets.  Such as sneezing or coughing.  If those hit you in the face or eye or even breathed in yes they will contract.  So the mask will catch those but if you do get coughed or sneezed on discard the mask immediately!  Alcohol the crap out of your face and hands.  You can literally suck in the virus threw the mask once it dries.

Pick it up sporting this glamorous 2 piece with matchiing footwear and bag. Only way to be sure?

UK Advise is  wash hands when in contact with a foreign objects such as shopping trolley handles and such like. You can use hand sanitiser but its not as good as hand washing. keep a two metre invisible ring around you.. Kind of personal space.

My advise is wear the suit. Cant go wrong then

Wash your hands routinely as if your were a surgeon scrubbing in (or if you've had chemical warfare training, as if you're decontaminating your hands).

Avoid touching your face.

Touch elevator buttons, etc. with the back of your knuckles.

Touch door handles with your sleeve or wear gloves.

Over the few weeks or so... doctors in Sweden, Finland, UK, India and other nations have all released reports saying that the difference in a mild case of COVID-19 vs a severe case of the viral infection is directly tied to vitamin D serum levels, specifically vitamin D3. and even determined a blood serum level number that seems to be where the critical level is... below that and the immune system is more likely to respond with  a cytokine storm and put you in the ICU. Taking 2000 IU of vitamin D3 supplements (as cholecalciferol) is cheap, safe, and could spell the difference between being admitted to a hospital ICU at the brink of death versus spending a few weeks feeling really crappy at home in your own bed.

Tons of scientific papers are out there about this  now..... here's one https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/05/200507121353.htm

Also I'm a firm believer that if you supplement with zinc and a zinc ionophore at the earliest signs of an infection with this virus, you might be doing yourself a lot of good. The science behind zinc being able to block the RdRt transcriptase enzyme the virus needs to replicate copies of its RNA is sound science, but the window of opportunity where it may be effective at thwarting a full blown infection s only open very early in an infection, before it gets into the lungs. Be safe everyone. If 80% of everyone wore even just a cloth facemask, it would greatly lower the transmission rate.

Please remember that NONE of us here are actual doctors and taking over the counter supplements without letting your doctor know can be as bad a problem as the COVID19 because only your doctor will know which OTC meds agree with your other medications.  I am an example where Iron supplements can be very dangerous to me due to a unique DNA pattern of my blood.  Be careful and check with your MD before taking vitamin supplements.

I love to educate on this sort of topic. I have been a COVID Intensive Care Unit RN since early February. Luckily, I have never contracted the virus. Ive been a nurse in the ICU for close to 10 years and only been sick once from a pretty significant Flu.

Biggest things;

1. WASH YOUR HANDS! 20 seconds at least - wash from wrist downward and rinse in the same fashion.

2. Hand sanitizer when washing is not an option; but make sure the Alcohol content is 60-70% at minimum.

3. One thing people fail to remember, such frequent washing/sanitizer causes damage to your skin. Remember to use a fragrant - free lotion; Safe Guard and Nivea make wonderful kinds at a low cost now. Or alternatively use Vitamin-E oil directly to hands.

4. Wear a mask over nose AND mouth and NEVER pull it down below your chin. Pulling it down exposes the inside of the mask to any contaminants present on your neck. Always remove the mask and fold it to protect the inside or pull one loop off and let it dangle if needing a brief break.

5. 6 feet is ideal, but make it more if possible; being around someone for greater than 10 minutes closer than 6 feet is a huge risk.

6. I work closely with Infectious Disease MD's and Advanced Practice Providers in my ICU - especially with our ID Physicians, they currently have no supplemental OTC recommendations at current other than staying hydrated and watching for signs and symptoms. Which they are always adding something to it! Fever is NOT the sign you should focus on, so many people are getting sick and never experience a fever!

Lastly, grab a Glad sandwich bag and carry some Lysol wipes with you at all time, they are so helpful. Do not leave them or hand sanitizer in a hot car or environment! Reduced effectiveness!

Thank you Kylie.  It was definitely illuminating to know about mask storage and handling.

We are unfortunately going to be facing this epidemic for some time now.  The more we know(and act on) the safer we and others will be.

Hugs,

Charlize

@VickySGV    Good point.  There are websites full of porn and fantasies related to cross dressing, trans stories, etc., and people might easily think those are written by TG types and accurately describe TG folk.

No one has mentioned the Adult Entertainment Industry aka the Pornography Industry which for too long was the ONLY source of information about us for the general public.  I actually realized what I was from an XX Rated publication that I snuck behind a comic book at the neighborhood convenience / liquor store.  The person in the article told of her feelings up until and through GCS which I identified with completely, but then went on to the sob story of a marriage crashing when her knowing husband went to a new job and they found out she was Trans on a security check and threatened the husband with legal action unless he divorced her ---  yada yada!!   On that note she decided her  life was ruined. --    Other problems in the Porn Press are of course the "Morality" and it is there that child endangerment stories for actual mental illness types  comes in.  Also in that media they emphasize the Fetishistic Cross Dresser classification which is an actual addiction situation and is a harmful process addiction of sex that is as terrible as Drug and Alcohol Addiction can be.  The pornographic issues and sources of information are readily available in the opening pages of a Google Search while actual Trans information is about page 200 on the engine.   A recent misadventure I had that shows how acceptable I am as my True Self is that a man who claimed to be a church elder (minister??) told me how he had never come up with legitimate information   on Trans People and actual Trans Children and he went on to brag about what he did find that was morally damning by looking for the  information.  He continued to go into detail about other pornographic sources and how nasty they were. I asked him then why HE, a MINISTER kept looking at the Porn.  He replied to me that he kept up with it to warn his congregation of the true evils he had seen so he could minister to them.  Happily for me a friend of mine came along so I could  break away from the guy who was after my soul.  (He did not read me as Trans, whew!!)

Just like anything else that is new it's always the thing that people fear of. People are typically afraid of change. Even something as simple as new procedure at work or the population growing. Typically just have the mindset of it's not broken then don't fix it type of attitude. The world is progressing and they need to accept that or they will eventually be left behind. A good example after WW II women working in the workforce things didn't go well at all due to a lot of butting heads. There are still even people now that think women are only meant for housework and raising babies.

I've actually seen a lot of people who at least tolerate the LGB and not the T. There's also some of the gay/lesbian population that, unfortunately, alienate trans people away from other parts of the community.   To me, the biggest block is probably the lack of formal exposure. If people aren't taught about LGBT they will, just like any other topic, come to misunderstandings and more. Besides, how can most LGBT people figure out that they are such if they don't know it exists? I know that, personally, I didn't realize I was a guy rather than just someone who wanted to be a guy until I was introduced to trans as a concept

You're welcome. I wanted to post something new that I haven't posted yet.

That's a lot of weight congratulations. I was almost about to become a K9 handler in the Air Force back in 2006 but I found out that once you get promoted to E7 you lose your dog. You can get it at E4 as long as they need them but it is usually E5. If you don't understand military jargon, I'll help you out. I didn't want to join the Marines because I actually like to be treated better. I was Security Forces and performed security, law enforcement and everything you could think of such as convoying, fire fights, search pit just to name some. It also helped that I had family that was Air Force and I went through Air Force Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps so I knew the basics of Air Force already. That's awesome that you have goals in life. I hope you get it.

@FelixThePickleManTrust me I know the feeling. I didn't have the guts to come out that young. It wasn't well known back then. I knew I felt completely wrong. I knew for sure my parents weren't going to help me so I hid it all. It hurt a lot to live a lie. I always pretended to be the female that I was dating. I prayed and cried every night. It's not easy because bullying has always been around and the teachers didn't really care about that stuff back then.    You can make it through this. I would like to help you out just like I have with previous members. It's going to be up to you if you would like it. It's not going to happen overnight I can promise you that. For every negative thing or comment it typically needs double the number for positive things to feel better about yourself. You unfortunately are living with your parents which they are getting used to you coming out too. Sometimes coming out you're going to lose a lot of support. I lost over 40 family members but I'm happier than what I was. I still look at the mirror and still have my issues which is typical because we know our own faults and short comings. You have to value yourself. There isn't going to be an easy life. We all face many obstacles and it's harder for the ones that have something else to deal with.   We aren't in the same boat as some people are in yachts, cruise ships, and so on. There are perks and cons to each one. The best thing is to find something that you are great at and focus on that while trying to improve on the little things. Some have rituals everyday such as a new Bible verse that is related to what you are going through or a poem there are many poems for everything.

Tonight we will split a thick cut ribeye steak grilled outside, along with fresh asparagus shoots, apple sauce, and fresh cucumber salad. The steak has already been seasoned, wrapped in butcher paper resting to room temperature. The cucumber salad is blended and resting in the refrigerator.   Tomorrow's dinner will be Chicken drumsticks (skin on) that are already marinating in Zesty Italian dressing. Tomorrow I will smoke the drumsticks with apple-wood smoke, before crisping them up on the grill. We'll also have grilling beans, and garlic mashed potatoes.   The outside kitchen is now open.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Clutching of pearls because people that don’t “align with society” party to excess is part of the problem, not a symptom of one. Cis-het folks are out there airing their sexuality, reveling in their debauchery, and displaying general anti-social behaviors all the time but aren’t reacted to in the same manner.   The most important T in this conversation is Time. As long as there is not a fascist, violent, crackdown on LGBTQ+ people, our exposure to society (at least in Western society) will continue to move it towards our acceptance.

I have three within a two block walk! You'd think I was in Seattle already! The one I have always gone to is the quintessential "local coffee shop" though; local artist's works on the wall, drinks named after customers and local geography, and it's run down just enough to feel homey. Also, I can bring my 20oz coffee mug in and get it filled for the price of a small! :D

Eczema was my excuse. *high fives!*   It's lovely when you get a nice interaction like that. Yesterday I got a "you're so sweet" from a man who I held the door for, I don't think he saw all of me until after he'd walked past so he only picked up on my outfit and body appearance. I was so paranoid that I used too male of a voice in return, but c'est la vie. I felt really nice after it though.   I tend to try to put in a lot of effort. If I wear make up, it has to be perfect, etc. I put this pressure on myself because I, too, don't have a chance in h-e-double hockey sticks at "passing".  So, I try not to make myself an "easy target".
