Nails

I've seen a few posts since I joined where girls have shown off etting their nails done, usually sitting in quiet jealousy that I cannot walk into a salon and get mine done.

If I have time I usually just do a quick coat of mine, but because I rush it ends up looking like a child did it and then I am paranoid about removing it all, and once or twice I have even used press on nails, they were quick to put on but they were pretty tough to remove. I bought these nail stickers off Amazon, for those of us who cannot or possibly do not want to go full time these are an excellent and very cheap option, they come in lots of different styles and are quick to apply, even solo - peel, stick and cut to size - but for those few hours when you get to be you it can be nice to sparkle. ?

Also while I may get jealous sometimes I still love seeing those nails so feel free to share!

@DeeDee

Those nails look lovely. You would never know they weren’t painted. I may have to try them as a possible solution for myself on occasion...or in a hurry. I think you have found a great option for yourself. I realize you can’t wear them too long but I’d be interested in finding out how long they last or stay in place. Maybe it could be i a viable option for a possible long term solution.

When the lock down started many months ago I sat down and learned how to do French Tips (my FAV style). I can do them now so they look absolutely professional quality. I’ve even decided to splurge on an LED light system to get even longer lasting results. Currently, If I do a new clean set of French Tips, they last no more than 5 or 6 days before one chips. That seems par for the course for any non-curing nail solution. I’ve tried seemingly every type and brand of prep coat, nail polish and top coat and unless they’re LED or UV cured, they don’t last longer than that.  Sometimes I’ll do a simple fix on the one or two that chip and I can squeeze out a few more days on the set but then they just have to be cleared and redone again. If I didn’t enjoy the relaxing enjoyment of shaping, polishing and painting them, I probably go back to the professionals.

Thanks for sharing this DeeDee. I enjoy trying new things and this is a very interesting idea I never really considered.

My Best,

Susan R?

Wow! @DeeDee I just ordered some of those myself yesterday (for the first time) for the exact same reason.  I'm thrilled you are happy being able to use them, and I look forward to the same (when they get here0.

Thank you❣️

Dee Dee,

I love your nails.  They look really great.

I have always worn press on nails, the kind you fix in place with adhesive nail tabs.  My go to nail style is the coffin tip nail.  I get mine from Sally Beauty Supply.  They come unpainted which allows me to color them as I choose.  Since I can paint them while they are not attached to my fingers I can get them to look very professional.  I paint up several sets, they are reusable as long as you remove them very gently, and I use them as a daily accessory.  I get the adhesive tabs from Amazon.  They hold the nails in place very firmly.

This is from some time back, so pardon imperfect work on edges ?

I called it “Pink overload”

Unfortunately, my nails cannot handle the polish, so I will need to look more into press ons.

So pretty, makes me want to make an attempt this weekend.  It's really been too long since I did my nails.

Thanks ladies ?, Val yours look really pretty I just dont seem to have a smooth surface to paint on. @KayC you will have to show us how you get on when yours arrive! @Sally Stone when I tried press ons I couldn't even open a tin of juice, so my frustration outweighed my joy but they were so fiddly to take off! I love the idea of painting them first though. Almost an art project. @Susan R I am happy to find something that works for now, the label says they will last 7 days but as they just peel I suspect the only way to make them really last would be to put a clear top coat over them.

Dee Dee,

Wearing longer nails is a lot like walking in high heels, they take some effort and practice.  I have been wearing press-on nails for years and I think my dexterity with them on is just as good as without.  I can button buttons and manipulate the clasps on my necklaces without fuss.  As for pop-tops, I don't subject my nails to that kind of stress; instead, I keep a little beverage can opener in my purse for those.

When it is time to remove the nails, I use the plastic end of a cuticle pusher.  I gently work the end under the nail and then very carefully pry the nail off, using care not to tear or deform it.  I have attached a picture of the type of cuticle pusher I use.  They are invaluable.

Just thought I'd share my nail look.  As you can see, I have a soft spot in my heart for long nails.

The adhesive tabs I use are quite strong.  I can even shower with my nails on.  Not sure how long the adhesive can last, but I have worn nails for two days in a row without any issues.

OMG @Sally Stone, absolutely lovely nails. I always had preference for long nails, there is something indescribable and powerful they add to the woman's image.

Well said.    Although this so-called Project 2025 will not affect me directly in an immediate sense, it sends a signal to equivalent minded people and political parties around the world that it is okay to exclude minorities and indeed, to persecute them.   In my humble opinion, the far-right politicians know damn well that there is a very large cohort of less-than-intelligent people out there who are not capable of critical thinking and believe every skerrick of dog-whistling, fearmongering, "they're-out-there-to-get-you" rhetoric. Pander to their rural and village attitudes and you're on a winner!    Correcting them with logic and science won't work; they just double down and get louder with their petulance on full display.

Just waking up so I'm in my pajamas - blue/white madras shorts, a navy blue t-shirt and my sleep bra with sleep-rated breast forms.   Thank you @Susan R for telling us about your mastectomy bra and forms fitting experience before your BA surgery and how sleeping in the bra/forms helped with the dysphoria.    First, hearing about your courage to get fitted gave me the confidence and courage to go out in public.   And, second, finding sleep mastectomy bras and sleep-rated breast forms (I found a set on eBay for a good price) has been a tremendous boost to my feeling comfortable in my pajamas and nightgowns and tamping down my dysphoria and dysmorphia.

Germany has more castles than there are McDonald's in the United States. Yep, you heard that right. Germany is estimated to have 25,000 castles, and there are around 13,000 McDonald's locations in America.   In Washington state, there's a real-life law stating it's illegal to kill bigfoot and other sasquatch-like creatures.

DREAD f you’re anticipating something positive, you’re probably motivated to summon all your patience to wait for it—and sometimes for extended time periods. It may be counter-intuitive, yet in certain instances such waiting can itself be gratifying. Consider Carly Simon’s song “Anticipation,” the old Heinz ketchup ads, and—especially—recent research pointing in the opposite direction as regards awaiting something highly aversive. In this post I won’t be reviewing ketchup commercials, but I will be exploring some intriguing research on dread-infused anticipation.

So an update from me.   Had my endo appointment last night. Went very well and they are sending 3 months supply of estrogen (estradoil patches) and the anti-androgens whilst my Dr gets a shared care agreement sorted out. So happy, should start HRT tomorrow!! Cost for the 3 month supply is £70 total for me, so not too bad. Not told my parents about this yet, but them being in spain, not sure they need to know yet.   Can't wait to start, just got to think about where to put the patches now and wait for the changes...

Good Morning    well it’s Friday for most, pay day for some.  For me it’s pay day but not Friday.  I work the same opening shift tomorrow.  I typically have Friday on Saturday and Monday on Tuesday.     @KymmieL it does sound like your shop has an issue and you are smack in the thick of it.  The new gal or guy often is.  We have an issue with new people not getting fully trained before being turned loose on customers.  Some struggle through it and some quit because of it.  I try to get them working with customers as quickly as I can but I stay right with them observing, helping, even jumping in when things are getting backed up to keep the stress down.  Not everything comes up during training so when things do, even later after trying is done, I try to help and explain.  Our ASM feels that once she has you scanning barcodes and taking money she is done training.  Generally, refuses to train me on things that she does, and questions why I’m doing something that she normally handles when I’ve been told to do it as part of my advancement training.     She and the cashier involved both keep trying to toss the manager under the bus over a hours of work issue and shifts.  I tell her I realize her issues and I’ll work what ever she needs.  Because of that I tend to get a better more consistent schedule.   Well, time to say Happy Trails to you, until we meet again.   Hi ho Silver, away   Willow

That does get you the 'starting point' for cup size, but manufacturers, style, breast shape, etc... will effect the results.    Step one is of course finding the proper band fit, then figuring out the approximate cup size with the calculations. Of course you need to try on a few styles after that in different cup sizes close to your measured result until you get the perfect fit.    I have bras in a DD that fit just like my bras in DDD both from Torrid but different styles.    I have some DDD's that fit awesome and some that are a bit loose, but I measure a 46G. It's not wonder that 80% of women are wearing them wrong bra.
