Eh, don't hate the US. There's lots of great doctors there because they get paid a lot of money to be there...and, you don't have to wait in line ups? I'm not very well versed in USA's medical system, though.

yes lines lines and more lines <_< Which means transitioning too <_<

yeah that's true. Especially if we're talkin about top surgeons or any other situation where there aren't a lot of docs around to do it. Some of the best surgeons for top surgery are in the US.

There's not really an issue with line-ups... if you're referring to people having to wait in line to go see a dr... I haven't encountered much of that. Waiting for T however, that is a different story. And there's more than one way to go about it. Some people get lucky and don't have to see a gyno at all... some don't even have to follow the SOC, do the informed consent thing instead. In my case, apparently, I'm not as lucky in that sense <_< But I will likely get T covered on my insurance, and if not, it's pretty affordable without insurance anyways. I also managed to find a GT who takes my insurance. So for me it's $15/visit. :) Same for doctors. What i DON'T like right now is this new prescription policy they have - no brand name meds are covered past 2 months - gotta pay full price if a generic version is available. Kinda blows seeing as I had to switch one of my antidepressants from XR to standard release and it is already one of those meds that's dangerous to miss a dose as it is... now not being XR, I gotta be even more careful. Anyway... I digress. :)

:( If we have a appointment with a doctor we don't have a line up. But just a normal office has line ups. It's all free, though, unless its a private doctor.

Doesn't sound like a too bad system you have now, Gene.

I have to wait at least 20 minutes AFTER my appointment is scheduled. <_< Plus the time of when I get there early <_<That's a lot of waiting

I am 20 - the only reason I saw a gyno to get the exam was because I am trying to get a hysterectomy covered under insurance.

If you are under 21 and a virgin (well....if you've never had sex with a bio-male) most doctors will say they don't need to do anything until you're 21. some say 18. the few doctors/friends I've asked have told me 21...I guess it depends on the doctor.

The doctor first checked my chest, then I got the speculum exam and pap smear/pelvic exam.

My_Genesis, the gyno I saw is in NYC. I think you said you found someone...but if you need someone, I can give you her name via a PM.

Is this one trans-sensitive? I have chosen one but if I happen not to like her for any reason I'd like to have options. But according to my GT this one is pretty trans-sensitive too.

Yep. I'll send you her name and details in a PM just in case.

So tomorrow morning is my appointment... it's supposed to be really hot and humid tomorrow... which does not make the whole experience any easier for me but... wish me luck! :)

I didn't have to go to see a gyno before I started T because of the whole being a virgin thing...The only person who's seen me in my birthday suit is my current boyfriend. ;)

If you're not a virgin you'll have to see a gyno.

Not necesairly true, unfortunately, I wouldn't say the way my girlfriend and I have sex would cause a doc to have to look at me in that way... in otherwords for conventional means of judging the kind of body I was born with I'd be called a virgin, yet my doc made me do the physical part... my doctor did prescribe an anti-anxiety med, but I had no one to drive me so I ended up going in without having taken it. It was over quickly. My biggest issue was more about having the nurse there who sees me as a guy seeing me in a way that shows her my body isn't. If that makes any sense? I'm on some vicodin (post-op top surgery 5 days!) so I may not be making as much sense as I am trying to make.. lol

lol. congrats on the surgery bro! I know what you mean about having them see you as a guy but then having to see you as a girl :/ sucks.

But guess what?! I got a sonogram done and I have PCOS! :D I'm happy about that cuz that means I'm making too much testosterone. Goes to show I'm trans right there... lol. I got a pap, that was not fun... well the whole thing wasn't exactly fun lol. Got blood drawn, see my endo on Thursday, and hopefully I will be on T before this month is over <_< haha

Please consider joining us, even if it's just for a few minutes to see what the meetings are like. I've learned so much, had so much fun and gained confidence in myself just by being a part of this amazing group of people. It's a low key, no pressure, non-judgmental chance to just be among people who are supportive, understanding and affirming of each other.    I'm travelling out of state and still planning on dropping in for awhile.    Come see what it's like!!

Thank you, Susan!! It was such an amazing experience for me. I can't remember if I even talked about it on a Zoom meeting.   Here is the link to the post I made about it. And, again, thank you for helping to give me the courage to do it.

Good morning coffees   This probably doesn’t exactly apply to me because you wouldn’t have found a more shy and conservative person than me.  I was perhaps less shy before my sister started complaining about me doing things that were hers to do. And I would become embarrassed and that was the end of that.   upstairs unit got their typical weekend visitors in the middle of the night last night.  They woke me up.  They have little consideration for being in a condo community and the neighbors being in such close proximity.   @awkward-yet-sweet , how goes the job with your husband’s boss?  I don’t recall you saying much about it this week, but I could have missed a post along the way.  If I recall you were supposed to meet with him last Monday.   @KymmieL I hope you are feeling better.     Yes, I find it to be wrong that just because a car part says Ford or Chevrolet on the box that same part with Lincoln or Cadillac on the box cost a lot.more.  I know there are differences in the upscale brands such as the engine and drivetrain in the Caddy and of course the interior fit and finish.  But it’s the same body with things crammed in the same way under the hood.     well, time to finish my coffee, fix my hair and made my way across the street to work.    willow

I read about her this morning. What a shame! She was beautiful and it seems she had a strong support system in place and could have had a wonderful life all to have it end like this. Such a waste. I truly hope the monster that killed her gets everything he deserves.

I am so glad you enjoy them as well. The help things “stay put” so well. It got me through some of my most dysphoric times.   Wow, I hadn’t heard this at last week’s Zoom meeting if you had mentioned it. That is a huge milestone April Marie.I have no doubt that this confidence will only grow in time. The freedom of being yourself, especially in public, is a wonderful feeling. I am truly happy for you.😘   *Big Congratulatory Hug* Susan R🌷
