Pre Reunion Get Together

Tonight is my 40th high school reunion, last night was a get together at a local pizza establishment, this is my first reunion as Paula and and worked hard over the last year trying to make sure as many knew my new status as possible, i have a Facebook, Myspace and Classmates page that tells it like it is. I was pretty nervous not knowing how i would be received, but it turns out all my hard work was a success, and for the most part i was just one of the women there.

When i walked in i was shown where the get together was, Randi and Susan who worked hard to put this all together came over, both said hi Paula and each of them gave me a huge hug, slowly as everyone arrived others that i knew came over and said hi Paula, not one person called me Kevin the whole evening.

One woman that never ran into in high school and have only known from facebook motioned me over and we had a great talk, she said reading my story helped her heal some as high school was hell for her as she was picked on for being of Italian decent, i did not think my story could help someone else but it did, as we were talking i noticed another women trying to read my name tag so i went oner, i said my name is Paula A______, she said she did not remember me, then i said do you remember Kevin A______, she said yes, i said that is who i used to be, there was this huge look of confusion on her face and i told another woman that she is confugled, i still am not sure she gets it but she did not ask any other questions.

Another woman and i were talking and she said if at the reunion there is a prize for most changed i would win hands down.

Sure there were some looks by other women, i am sure they were trying to figure out who i was or they knew and were just gossiping, they never came over to ask or say anything so i assume it was gossip.

For the most part the majority there had put on quite a few pounds, our star quarterback is now over 400 pounds, there were some that kept in great shape over the years, when i graduated high school i weighed 220, currently i weigh 205 and still loosing, 30 more pounds to go to meet Dr. Mcginns 28 bmi in order to have my surgery.

Tomorrow i will let you know how the reunion goes tonight.

Oh how fun! I am glad you were met rather open-armed, and that the Italian girl was... for lack of a more fitting word - inspired - by you, is just amazing, simply put.

I'm glad that you had a couple of good nights out with people you haven't seen in a while. It's always nice to reconnect with people, especially if this time around they know who you really are!
