I suddenly realised something... I should've thought of this yesterday, but I was kind of out of it. About people disregarding DM as throwaway New Wave... those people probably aren't fans to begin with. ;) I mean, if they think THAT, then how can they call themselves fans?

(And I personally don't consider New Wave throw-away... but I guess it depends on the band. :D)

One thing I've noticed that annoys me to no end is a lot of the mainstream crowd who don't 'really' like DM, always say 'Enjoy the Silence' or 'Personal Jesus' were their only good songs. And even so-called DM fans only really like post '80s DM.

And the same thing happens to A-ha. A lot of people act like 'Take on Me' was their only good song or that they're throw-away pop. That's what annoys me... when people claim a band only has one good song and the rest are crap.

Oops... sorry for ranting about that.:lol: I can get carried away sometimes... don't mind me!

:banghead: ohhhhhhhhh you've started something in me!!!!!!

I have met sooo many peoples who claim to like "DM" and then why I try to strike up a conversation with them they stare at me blankly as if I am speaking in Klingon. As much as I love Personal Jesus and Enjoy the Silence I have to say that they have done countless songs that are better, yes they have amazing lyrics and are very deep musically as well, they have done lots of albums tracks that equal them or just outright better them.

A lot of people I think professed to liking them on the basis that for a short time they were very "cool" and those songs got a lot of club play in the form of remixes. Though when they looked deeper in to their back catologue they were not too impressed to find they were not as throw away as what they would have liked to believe.

New Wave produced so many good bands that were ahead of their time, Cutting Crew made many fine albums and should be lauded for their talents but sadly these days it seems that to say you like 80'S music is practically a deathwish, people think it was tacky and filled with "one hit wonders" :banghead: When if you listen to the music you would discover just how clever they were, to produce those songs on such old synths, when many modern artists cannot re-create such beauty on much better equipment, shows just how great they were!!!!

Gary Numan sadly has a fan base who largely discard his work pre "Pure" now I love his new stuff, I love how he is being hailed as the Godfather of Industrial, as he should be, rather than people saying he copied Trent Reznor despite how many times Trent himself has said Numan influenced him. But for anyone to not see the synthetic, robotic beauty of The Pleasure Principle or Telekon astounds me. Just because it is not organic in its instrumentation or it is filled with cold lyrics , does that not mean it does not have a natural, inhuman beauty?? I know that may sound contradictory but Kraftwerk's music moves me to tears and they are a band that has spent years crafting a platic image. I love plastic. Sorry for the shameless copying of an Andy Warhol quote but I love futuristic imagery and that cold, inhuman sheen that Numan and many others adopted. The way they blurred gender lines and developed this beautiful neo-cyberpunk imagery.

 I am aware much of this probably does not make sense but I am tired and upon reading Exeter's post I had to jot down my thoughts and feelings while they were fresh. Sorry everyone.

I know it's a little "out there" but I LOVE PRIMUS!!! Favorite album, I'd say The Brown Album.

Primus! Brown Album was awesome, but I'd rather have there "greatest hits" album, so I can get my fix or Wynona and Jerry as well as My Name is Mud, all in one listen.

New one for my list is Mediocre Generica by Leftover Crack. I can't get enough of "Gay rude boys unite!"

Still waiting on Star F'ing Hipsters to see if everything else on that one is as good as what I can get on youtube. I love Nico's voice. ^_^
