Old Games On Vista

I'm making up more space on my laptop slowly. But er it's hard word when you're like me and you constantly find yourself saving new things, especailly when I have files full of photography and these photos are often big files too. But I was wondering if anyone has had any look with old games on vista? Because I was looking on Amazon at a game i'd like to get in the near future but it's an old game and i couldn't find one updated to vista. So it said compatible with XP has anyone managed to play an old game on vista?

Many of my old games play on Vista but it's a real turkey shoot. Some say they will but won't and others say they won't and do. About 50/50 I'd say.

Personally I see Vista as a plot by Microsoft to drive the world to the use of tranquilizers and suspect they have massively invested in drug companies:D

Have you checked on the game sites for patches?-lots of them had patches, even for old games, when Vista first reared it's ugly head. And sometimes the patches work.

Shouldn't be necessary if you run Vista-or prefer a variant browser like Firefox.

I was a Netscape fan-didn't Microsoft get in trouble and pay a big fine over that harassment but it was too late. Now Firefox and I see the same thing happening. Whenever Windows updates Firefox is buggy until they upgrade too.

I suppose it COULD be coincidence.

Like it wasn't with Netscape.

Sorry, sometimes I forget about the language barrier. 'Fiasco' means 'complete and utter failure'. I have used Vista, and I absolutely hated every bit of it (pun intended).

As for the dollar sign, as far as I'm concerned, Microsoft sells a second rate OS at a premium price...

Clarified enough?

As far as Vista, I really liked it. It was far more secure than XP. The biggest problem was the companies who make software were very slow to upgrade the software to be compatible with Vista. It's not a problem now. As for Windows 7, I think it's the best OS Microsoft ever created. It's a polished form of Vista. It runs faster on my machine than Vista ever did. I don't plan on upgrading from Windows 7 until I have to.

I'm a so called 'power user'. I know my way around computers well, both inside and out...

The last thing I need, is an OS asking me 'are you sure?', twice... (Read: Vista) True, it was a lot more secure... I just don't like computers having an attitude, second guessing me...

I am sorry I offended you. Believe me when I say that was not what I intended to do. In many ways Mac OS is better, especially when it comes to viruses and working on professional video. Also Linux has pluses too. It is very open and is free when you know what you are doing.

To shut off the annoying second security option when you are trying to run a program. Use the Control Panel and follow this route, making sure you use the Control Panel Home instead of the Classic View.

User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Accounts -> Turn User Account Control on or off -> uncheck the box and click ok. That should solve the problem.

I understand it is confusing to find the path to this option and totally understand why this option is annoying. And why you wouldn't like the OS. Plus I'm sure you know quite a bit about computers. It's just that there is so much to learn and it is close to impossible to know everything.

No worries, none taken...

I completely switched platforms, today I use Mac OS X. Very good OS, somehow works more 'logically' then Windows ever did to me. (I mean, what is the logic in pressing 'Start' for 'Shut Down'?) Just too bad, iTunes is a resource hog...

I have tried using linux, before, where I learned how to use unix-like OSes... The penguin and I just didn't get along, kept complaining I didn't bring the right fish...

      My mom has been more accepting of me being trans lately and even promised i could get a binder if i pay with my own money. The preferred name is still an issue. So far my mom, close friends and brother know i identify as trans but no one else does. I recently told mr grandparents about my partner and explaines the perferred name as a nickname they prefer to have. Luckily everyone who knows is accepting but i feel like i still have so much progress to make. Started getting more uncomfortbale being reffered to as my deadname and she/her in public. My therapist is getting me a trans pin for my birthday next time I see her. I have hop but sometimes I feel like the goal is so far. HRT and top surgery are things i know i want but there has been warnings given to me about the problems that come with it from the ones that have accepted me and I trust most. Mainly from the adults in my life that know, also been getting nervous many people dont see me as a man but i also go to an all girl school. being consistenly reffered to as women has started to get to me and have had urge on several occasions to write perferred name on paper. i dont think pereffered name can go into school system due to being catholic school and for graduation diploma we have to contact the person in charge and ask. I just need some advice on what to do, I am thank ful for the advice everyone had given me, made me feel better about future and hope that I can transition but also worry about familial ties and affect. due to most f them being born in the 80's and 90's and not taking it well originally mostly based on my moms reaction. I love my family alot but how they might react is scaring me. my mom still donesnt want them to know. I know they love me but when I eventually come out and medically trasition in several years hopefully, what will happen? there are little kids in the family and I already dont see them a lot, how would their parents react? what would they say to the kids? I know my aunt would not take it well due to political belief and warnings from cousins.

      Hah! Woke up the Red Scare!   I’ve never read Marx. I tend to believe in the inherent goodness in people. I let their words and deeds change that. Insisting people are immoral/less than/should not exist, stripping them (or keeping them from) human rights, is an a most basic example of true evil. What evils do LGBTQ+ people present simply existing? How does the Right justify their crusade against us? What justifies the manufactured fear and loathing they spout every day about us?

      Astronomy and astrophotography.  I have done a few public presentations on the subject and could most likely wing it for an hour without putting you to sleep.   On the other hand if you need a sleeping pill, I could also talk for an hour about flying and you'd be out cold.
