So I Bought Me Some Clothing...

...and tried it on while there!

So today was a mixed bag, for a while I was in a pretty strange mood at work, but I decided that I would not waver in my resolve to begin constructing a female image and slowly modify my every day apparel. When I was at a support group meeting on Saturday I got to talking with a pretty fashionable lady and she told me about a store that sells fashionable woman's clothing that wouldn't cost my left arm to get. I poked around on their website for a bit early in the week and liked some of their stuff so tonight I stopped off at the one in the shopping center right next to my apartment building.

It was right about dinner time for most people so it wasn't too populated. One of the two young sales ladies asked me who I was shopping for and I had one of those 'trial of attrition' moments and replied completely stone faced and matter of factly, "Me actually, cuz I cross-dress on occasion." Her immediate response was, "Really?" to which I answered "Yup" then she said something like, "Okay, I only asked because people joke about it all the time." (I guess this store has a lot of wise-guys that come to buy things for their girls.)

At this point we launched full blown into EPIC CLOTHING GETTING ADVENTURE! First I wanted to get me some black jeans since I already have blue ones. After that I got a bunch of shirts some casual, some more fancy, a pair of grey woman's dress pants which I think is the same pair I've seen a coworker wear, and a long jacket! I dropped $127 dollars and walked out with seven shirts, 2 pairs of pants, some kind of crazy tight/jean hybrid, and a jacket. NOW I HAVE SO MANY PERMENTATIONS TO TRY, DELICIOUS COMBINATORICS!

My interactions with the employees was pleasant and their attitude was not demeaning in any way. If anything I think they might have gotten a bit of a kick out of helping a 'boy who wants to be pretty.' (my own phrase) and they were pleasantly enthusiastic. It was nice to actually get to try on the clothing first. Getting to buy clothing that I want and to think and talk about feminine styles openly was very fulfilling. I got to try on cloths and be happy about them, I don't know how but in my mind it is a happiness that is clear and distinct from the one I've gotten about getting guy clothing in the past. Whereas guy clothing was more of a 'this looks cool' this was more of a plain and simple, 'I like this/this makes me feel good.' if that makes any remote amount of sense.

This is the new approach I'm taking to things. The ab initio or from first principles approach. Doing/having/getting girl things makes me happy therefore I should do it. I think soon I'll loose the chocolate shell of guilt everybody gets dunked in by society. This store might also become a jump point, as in it might become the first place I go publicly dressed by myself. After all it would be best to be in girls clothing to help gauge jewelry. I wasn't up for that this time I was a little overwhelmed with selection already and well I only had so much money on me.

I'll probably put some pictures into my gallery soon but I can't let myself get caught up in that tonight need to make sure I get a good amount of sleep. I'm gonna have a busy day at work tomorrow.

Whoa - fun ain't it! I learned to buy quality stuff, and also to shop for bargains. We are now wearing out our clothes, as women. So we can truly shop!

Ooh, EPIC CLOTHING GETTING ADVENTURE sounds like it was fun.

Also: Mmmmm, chocolate shell of guilt...

Um, sorry, distracted by the chocolate. Sounds like you had a good day, congratulations Orva.

I saw this concert in which it is said that the famous phrase of Jon Landau "I saw the future of rock and roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen" comes from that night. By the way Bruce opened for Bonnie Raitt that night and she was the better performer . . . just sayin'.

Astronomy and astrophotography.  I have done a few public presentations on the subject and could most likely wing it for an hour without putting you to sleep.   On the other hand if you need a sleeping pill, I could also talk for an hour about flying and you'd be out cold.

Please consider joining us, even if it's just for a few minutes to see what the meetings are like. I've learned so much, had so much fun and gained confidence in myself just by being a part of this amazing group of people. It's a low key, no pressure, non-judgmental chance to just be among people who are supportive, understanding and affirming of each other.    I'm travelling out of state and still planning on dropping in for awhile.    Come see what it's like!!

Thank you, Susan!! It was such an amazing experience for me. I can't remember if I even talked about it on a Zoom meeting.   Here is the link to the post I made about it. And, again, thank you for helping to give me the courage to do it.

Good morning coffees   This probably doesn’t exactly apply to me because you wouldn’t have found a more shy and conservative person than me.  I was perhaps less shy before my sister started complaining about me doing things that were hers to do. And I would become embarrassed and that was the end of that.   upstairs unit got their typical weekend visitors in the middle of the night last night.  They woke me up.  They have little consideration for being in a condo community and the neighbors being in such close proximity.   @awkward-yet-sweet , how goes the job with your husband’s boss?  I don’t recall you saying much about it this week, but I could have missed a post along the way.  If I recall you were supposed to meet with him last Monday.   @KymmieL I hope you are feeling better.     Yes, I find it to be wrong that just because a car part says Ford or Chevrolet on the box that same part with Lincoln or Cadillac on the box cost a lot.more.  I know there are differences in the upscale brands such as the engine and drivetrain in the Caddy and of course the interior fit and finish.  But it’s the same body with things crammed in the same way under the hood.     well, time to finish my coffee, fix my hair and made my way across the street to work.    willow

I read about her this morning. What a shame! She was beautiful and it seems she had a strong support system in place and could have had a wonderful life all to have it end like this. Such a waste. I truly hope the monster that killed her gets everything he deserves.
