The comments at the end of the article are interesting too. Click or copy and paste for complete article. I pulled off Drudge this morning.

"Redwood Heights Elementary School, in Oakland, is in the hot-seat after the school decided to education students about gender diversity.

On Monday and Tuesday, students of every grade were taught what the school called age-appropriate lessons about gender differences. Some lessons included all-girl geckos, a transgender clownfish, and boy snakes who act "girly" reports the San Francisco Chronicle."

Yeah the comments are pretty horrifying, but I like the school's idea.

A lot of people want to take what we've done to college in the U.S. (i.e. gear it toward vocational education and away from free and critical thought) and apply it to high school, it seems.

More Fox News alarmist propaganda. It must be those "New Age" liberals, corrupting our kids. No surprise, thanks for posting their link Laura.

This country was founded on the principal of separation of Church and State. There are those who want us ALL to follow their rules, which are based upon religious values.

Did you read this in the article?

Critics, however, were unmoved by that explanation, claiming the lesson does not represent the values of most Oakland residents.

Its a form of religious based censorship, like the attempt to replace evolutionary theory with creationism. And the idea the dinosaurs never existed, so teaching they did exist should be banned. I have no objections (well I do in a way) of teaching both theories - but teach the TRUTH where it is clearly known.

When these unnamed Oakland residents hire an attorney at an attempt on reversing what is know about natural science, they are putting there heads in the sand. But it is nationwide. The Louisiana State Legislature defeated an anti-bullying bill just recently because it mentions protection of gay children along with the handicapped and mentally challenged. it also mentioned religion. ethnicity and gender. So it's okay to beat up a kid in Louisiana - any kid.

I was a Christian believer my entire life, but now believe many of the organizations have been largely infiltrated by evil. The devil often speaks on Sunday. This realization was driven home when my ordained Baptist Minister brother-in-law (and my sister) called me an abomination in the eyes of God, because I have a gender dysphoric condition. This man is a convicted child molester - my daughter testified against him for exposing himself to her.

Teach children real facts. Let the children make their own decisions. Stop the bullies from beating up others, based upon the bigotry taught them by their parents.

The devil often speaks on Sunday. This is the reason I stopped attending church many years ago. For the life of me I just can not understand how so many think being trans or gay is a choice. Really why would anyone make such a choice..They do not cause they were born that way. But when we try to fight for our rights we are spreading some gay agenda trying to recruit more people to be gay and trans they say..Do these people really listen to the crap they say? Ok done with my rant for the day..

I love this quote.

The Pacific Justice Institute, a conservative organization, said teaching children that there may be more than two genders, "does not represent the values of the majority of families in Oakland,"

Really? Oakland? The Bay area in general? HAAA! Ridiculous!

And what does any persons values have to do with this Anyways? This is about tolerance and acceptance that it is ok for people to have and be different and that there rights and feelings should and will be protected.

What else would one expect from Fox News, the nation's official "the sky is falling" channel.

I wonder how many of the Fox News staff were actually bullies when they were young?

The problem, Lizzy, is that creationism isn't a legitimate (or even illgitimate) theory. It is a bible story, and nothing more. Science class is for teaching science, not fables. :)

I actually noticed the same line that Lizzy highlited:

Critics, however, were unmoved by that explanation, claiming the lesson does not represent the values of most Oakland residents.

This came right after an explanation that that were trying to increase acceptance and create a friendlier environment, not trying to advocate any particular lifestyle. So are critics saying that most Oakland residents' values are to be unfriendly and not accepting? Well I don't really know much about Oakland, but I don't believe that. I think there are unfriendly people everywhere yes, but most are good.

And from what they described about the lesson itself, I didn't hear anything that sounded like it wasn't appropriate.

Just media trying to scare people again I suppose...

hi everyone, my name is giz (or gizzie), i use all prns but i prefer they/it and i just found out abt this place pretty recently !! im really excited to find community among other trans people from so many walks of life !! in my personal life, i do have trans/queer friends but its not easy to navigate that without coming out all willy nilly (and i can't come out to my family, pretty much ever) so this is a pretty good place for me to get to know people and make new friends !!   i also have this weird dysphoria issue that i feel like everyone (and society at large lol) is attaching me to categories and boxes that don't really fit me (obviously this is to do with my agab) so being here without that presentation is also really helpful !!   i also hope to be able to start and share my transitions goals and things like that (just getting my body to a more androgynous look) !!   thanks for reading, and i hope to see more of y'all soon !!

Well, my friends are out publicly. Openly transgender, and on HRT.  I agree that the survival of all of us is at stake.  But I think there are threats greater and more dangerous than those faced exclusively by LGBTQ folks.   Rising prices. Unaffordable food.  EPA strangling transportation and energy.  Needless foreign wars that put us at risk of literal nuclear annihilation.  A government that wants to tax us, track us, and control every aspect of our lives...including using us as guinea pigs for their medical experiments.     Trump is no savior.  Neither is the Republican party.  But I believe that a vote for Democrats in the federal government is for sure a vote for globalism and what follows it.  War, famine, plague, slavery, and death don't care if we're trans or cis.

People who are out publicly, and openly transgender, maybe on HRT, having changed names and gender, have a lot to lose if anti-trans politicians take power.  They have openly called for our eradication, and promise to do everything they can to accomplish this.  (again, 2025) For someone in this position the election is about our survival.  It's foolish to delude ourselves into thinking "Oh, they don't really mean that.  It's all for show," or, "There's other more important things to concern ourselves with." Maybe for some people the other things take priority.  But if you have skin in the game, things look different.

If that happens, a lot of things I don't want to see might also be codified into law.  And some things that shouldn't be law might not get repealed.  To me, progress in one area isn't worth the price we'd have to pay in several other areas.     For me, voting on LGBTQ issues always ends up as an "out of the frying pan, but into the fire" sort of event.

Thea, your post made me think of a comic named Chloe Petts whom I saw recently on Hannah Gadsby's Gender Agenda comedy special on Netflix. She is a cisgender masculine lesbian. She is brilliant and so funny. I was intrigued by her identification - specifically masculine, not butch. And it seems to me there is a difference.

Today I had a dr appt. When I checked in, I was asked my surname, which I gave. Apparently there were two patients with appointments at that time with that same surname. The receptionist asked, "Are you (my legal name which is feminine) or Paul?" I got such a kick out of it not being assumed I had the feminine name.

That must have felt affirming, albeit perhaps weirdly so. However, I'd construe that more broadly (no pun intended) as sexism rather than misogyny where the latter would imply contempt. Also, incidentally, I've heard chivalry referred to as "benevolent sexism".

My boss is in a panic. His business is a couple straws away from breaking a camel in half. He's just handling the stress very poorly.   My dad, though. He's handling things pretty well, as long as I continue to don't get massively offended by being called: son, boy, etc. His eldest is leaving the State and looks so different than he's been used to over the years. I haven't told him I'm on HRT, but to be fair the changes haven't been massive. I've always had boobs, more so after COVID weight gain and made more obvious with its loss, but now I'm not hiding them--and obviously wearing a bra. The estrogen has done some work, but nothing major (sadly). I think the biggest HRT changes have been my skin and a mild amount of fat redistribution.   Today I'm wearing my cheater, I almost have cleavage! :D I need to get another t-shirt bra to keep a good rotation. I only have two, one push-up, and the rest are unlined (great for Summer, but not great for my Summer wardrobe ).
