Well looks like I changed my mind on my middle name yet again.. lol After a few weeks of family and SO trying to convince me to stick with Faith, I decided to cave.. might as well since I've gone by Sarah Faith for so long now it does seem more natural. I can be so indecisive sometimes lol.

LOL you'll have to post a video of the bouncing part

The least you could do is spring for some Cubans for such an occasion

Excuse me! It's Jody Ann Taylor, not Jody Ann Banned!

Teasing you is worth a million bucks though. :harhar: Giggle. Jody

PS---Hey Sarah Faith, nice change! Teasing you is also worth bucks, 999,999.99 to be exact, please don't feel slighted? I'll give you a hug to make up for it. :friends: JA

Oh, those two!!!

LOL Thanks Jody, it was actually posting about changing my mind on my middle name again that gave me the idea to just change it to that here so there is less confusion.

I would gladly accept a hug today actually. Though 999,999.99 bucks would be nice too! :)

A little late to the party but mine was a no Brainer. Born William.. But everyone always called me Billy so in my little mind everyone has been calling me by my female name my whole life.. So I changed it to Billie Jean.. My Omage to "The Legend of Billie Jean", The Movie and Pat Benatar but everyone uses the first 2 letters of my Last name hence Billie De

I had another name the first time I came out but that did not seem to fit anymore.

Mia has the same first letter as my "other" name and it seemed to fit. A lot of my friends and associates have always referred to me as MJ and it was a comfortable way of introducing my "real" name. It is kind of funny to watch over the last few years as people would work to call me MJ and slowly work into calling Mia. It just fits.

I'm still trying to work out my name...

was born with Adrian Frederick but not sure whether to change to Adriana or Alicia (which I like, but has no family significance)

also Adriana might be easier to get used to?

For my second name, I was named after my uncle, who paid for the IVF treatment my mum needed to go through to have me. I want to keep this honour to him, Freida seems the best choice?

Not sure if it rolls off the tongue so easily though lol

I had a choice between two names, Cicely (after Cicely Tyson because of her strenght as a black woman) and Sophia (after Sophia Loren, in whom I not only had a crush on when I was a small child but I wanted to also be her, breathtakingly beautiful) I decided against Cicely because I also had a crush on her and I didn't realize it at the time until it was pointed out to me that my wife resembles Cicely Tyson. So Cicely was out the question, but Sophia was certainly not second bestt by any means. Here is the meaning; 3 syll. sop-hia, so-ph-ia ] The baby girl name Sophia is pronounced in English as SowFIYah or in German as ZowFIYaa †. Sophia is mainly used in the English, German, Greek, Italian, and Russian languages, and its language of origin is Old Greek. It is derived literally from the word 'sophia' which means wisdom.

I have used the letter D for my first name starting way back when i new there was a issue with my gender. So D because i hated seeing my name wrote on paper,it progressed to Dee(very easy to incorporate,my name was Dan btw) My middle name(that i changed also) came from my like for the names rachel and reagan. Not able to decide so i stuck with RAE. Finally my last name, well i chose not to stay with my given last name for personal reasons. I guess i like the classy sound of StClaire, and it expresses how i feel... sorta something like that lol It did take a long time to set this all in stone, lots of google use and checking if it was aval.

I have experimented with plenty of names in my time but out of all of them Laura has stuck the most. I can't even remember for sure how I arrived at Jennifer as a middle. I remember I had it years ago and I was going to go with it as a first name, back when Pokemon Sapphire Version was a brand new game, and in that game I made a female character called Jennifer. Over the years it somehow found its way into the middle spot.

However, I am coming up to 23 now and still go through phases where I question my choice, despite all this with GD going on for well over half my life. Sometimes I get stuck between Laura and Lauren - how's that for a dilemma? I hinted at this in a recent post but didn't say anything more of it. One reason why is my last name. Any name ending in a "rah" sound - Laura, Sarah, etc, is difficult to say with my last name. I don't yet know whether I would change my last name or not - don't want to *completely* alienate myself from my family now, do I :-/. That's why I have considered Lauren - same name, same meaning, just a modernisation with a different ending, which fixes the pronounciation problem.

Having said all of that, for me Jenna is a *very* close second. I was actually called this about four years ago. Obviously I would change my current chosen middle name if I was to go with that! Probably to Laura.

the original name i picked out just came to me. Lisa Lynn it literally rolled of the tongue. how kate came along was a conversation with my mom about what her and my dad would have named me if i was born with the right body. the middle name my mom and i decided on. my dad passed away when i was 2 months old, and because he helped come up with the name, i feel close to him.

My birth name is Alexandra Grace. Growing up, I absolutely despised the name. I thought it was way to girly, and it never fit me. Since I can remember, I've always just been Alex. I've always loved the name Fox, too. I was considering that for my middle name, but my initials would be AFK now that I'm married. I don't think I'd be happy with an internet acronym for the rest of my life! Once I come out to my parents, I think I'll ask them about the name they would've picked.

I was named after my dad's best friend growing up (a Michael A. McNardi), and although he sounds like a great person, we've never been close. I've met him only twice. So, as sweet a homage as it was, I never felt (probably having to do some with dysphoria) like it was MY name. I grudgingly resigned to being called "Mike"; And I lived, not hating myself, but not exactly loving myself either. Ambivalently. It was just how it WAS. (I shortened it to 'M for correspondences).

I played WoW for a few years in college as "Liz", pretty much a female alter-ego, under the excuse that it was an "experiment" in gender studies (it made for a half-written unpublished essay and lost online friends when I "came out"). Still,I always liked the classic sound of Elizabeth, so much so she's now a character in a book series I write. But though it seemed weird/cheesy to pick a name based off my own fiction, I liked the "e" sound. And then I thought of something:

My gram's name was Emily. She was one of my absolute fav people growing up, right until she died, when I was nine. I thought maybe I'd name a future daughter after her.

So when I started all my gender insanity back last August, guess which name popped into my head, to refer about my female "self" struggling to express herself?

Ironically (but not unkindly, in either case) I'd followed my dad's path, and chosen to honor a far-away loved one. It's funny how alike we are to our families, especially unconsciously, even when we're trying so hard to be different. :)

This is stupid but, it happened.

I read the Walking Dead comic book like right when the show was coming out and loved the character of Andrea, then I noticed how pretty that name is. I'm particular about how women's names ought to have a good number of vowels. Andrea has three vowels, begins with a vowel ends with a vowel. My only regret is that a malicious witty person could easily turn it to MANdrea. But still, Andrea still sounds pretty to me.

It took me a while to arrive at that name, before I had used Jennifer, Elizabeth or Liz and Emma, but as I got older my tastes in name choice changed. I kind of like my middle name more than my first, which is Corinne, which I mispelled it should be Corrine. Eh well. I'm kind f finding myself liking names that used to be cool in the 20s or so. My imaginary kids are named Orson, Lorna, Corrine and Grant.

But just because I get bored with my name I like to go to Starbucks and get fancy drinks so I can give them a fake name, so far Starbucks knows me as Andrea, Kate, Christi, Kristine and Peachy Keen. All names I would be considering if I wasn't already comitted to a name.

I wanted to be named after someone somewhat meaningful, and went through characters created by my favourite authors. I quite fancied an Italian name but decided I'm really too English for that! In the end I chose Katherine, because of a number of great women :) She's the titular shrew in Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, which was always my fave Shakespeare play and I like that she's outspoken and refuses to be downtrodden by men (though only until her husband starves the spirit out of her, which is a bit dark...) As such she's the lead in 10 Things I Hate About You, which was my favourite film growing up :) Katherine in desperate housewives becomes a strong, lovely woman, with gorgeous hair. Katherine in The Vampire Diaries is pure evil but she's so devious you've gotta love her. I'm sure there were some others but I can't remember. I quite like Katherine Heigl. And there were more if I cast the net out to include related names like Catriona or Catalina, but I think that's pushing it a bit...

i feel like for a female name, if it invokes an aspect of nature its naturally more feminine, as a man my name meant "ROCK" or "EARTH" my chosen female name is Laura, its the name of a leaf or something,

Yes, it's meaning relates to laurel trees (it's mine as well). Same goes for Lauren. Laurel is a name in itself as well.

I looked up popular birth names for the year I was born. Since my male name is one of the top 10 popular boy names I figured my girl name would be in there as well, so I looked the list over, crossed out any names of my mom or sister, then narrowed it down to a couple, mulled it over a bit, narrowed it down to 2 and then asked my friends which of the two they liked better. It was a choice between Elizabeth and Melissa. I liked the formality of Elizabeth, and besides, how many queens are named Melissa anyway?

Then I had to practice writing a capital E that didn't look like male chicken scratch....

The one and only person I have told, suggested it. I always liked Chris as a name anyway, and the unconventional 'K' makes it a bit different. I also like the way it sounds.

My mom has been more accepting of me being trans lately and even promised i could get a binder if i pay with my own money. The preferred name is still an issue. So far my mom, close friends and brother know i identify as trans but no one else does. I recently told mr grandparents about my partner and explaines the perferred name as a nickname they prefer to have. Luckily everyone who knows is accepting but i feel like i still have so much progress to make. Started getting more uncomfortbale being reffered to as my deadname and she/her in public. My therapist is getting me a trans pin for my birthday next time I see her. I have hop but sometimes I feel like the goal is so far. HRT and top surgery are things i know i want but there has been warnings given to me about the problems that come with it from the ones that have accepted me and I trust most. Mainly from the adults in my life that know, also been getting nervous many people dont see me as a man but i also go to an all girl school. being consistenly reffered to as women has started to get to me and have had urge on several occasions to write perferred name on paper. i dont think pereffered name can go into school system due to being catholic school and for graduation diploma we have to contact the person in charge and ask. I just need some advice on what to do, I am thank ful for the advice everyone had given me, made me feel better about future and hope that I can transition but also worry about familial ties and affect. due to most f them being born in the 80's and 90's and not taking it well originally mostly based on my moms reaction. I love my family alot but how they might react is scaring me. my mom still donesnt want them to know. I know they love me but when I eventually come out and medically trasition in several years hopefully, what will happen? there are little kids in the family and I already dont see them a lot, how would their parents react? what would they say to the kids? I know my aunt would not take it well due to political belief and warnings from cousins.

Maybe.  But they'd probably resent being required to do it.   IDK.  You have to show ID to register already.  And you have to be registered to vote.

Hah! Woke up the Red Scare!   I’ve never read Marx. I tend to believe in the inherent goodness in people. I let their words and deeds change that. Insisting people are immoral/less than/should not exist, stripping them (or keeping them from) human rights, is an a most basic example of true evil. What evils do LGBTQ+ people present simply existing? How does the Right justify their crusade against us? What justifies the manufactured fear and loathing they spout every day about us?

I saw this concert in which it is said that the famous phrase of Jon Landau "I saw the future of rock and roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen" comes from that night. By the way Bruce opened for Bonnie Raitt that night and she was the better performer . . . just sayin'.

Astronomy and astrophotography.  I have done a few public presentations on the subject and could most likely wing it for an hour without putting you to sleep.   On the other hand if you need a sleeping pill, I could also talk for an hour about flying and you'd be out cold.

Please consider joining us, even if it's just for a few minutes to see what the meetings are like. I've learned so much, had so much fun and gained confidence in myself just by being a part of this amazing group of people. It's a low key, no pressure, non-judgmental chance to just be among people who are supportive, understanding and affirming of each other.    I'm travelling out of state and still planning on dropping in for awhile.    Come see what it's like!!

Thank you, Susan!! It was such an amazing experience for me. I can't remember if I even talked about it on a Zoom meeting.   Here is the link to the post I made about it. And, again, thank you for helping to give me the courage to do it.
