Transgender Cat: Humor, Fact Or Hoax?

Guest

How do you tell if something is fact, fiction or humor? While i found it to be amusing some were insulted. The author asks for money to give her cat a sex change operation but I don't recommend sending funds. Be sure to check the sites comment section.

Transgender Cat

link removed as malicous

The Question is were you amused or insulted?

Hmmm, don't think it's true. Pet psychic? I say it's probably a joke or just plain fiction. I didn't see if there was an actual donation box, if so, it could just be a scam.

One of my friends jokes that her cat is transsexual. (When I saw this thread, I actually thought, "What, like Holly?") It is male and had a male name, but I think she said the cat "preferred" a female version of it. (In a joking way, my friend's not crazy) So now they call it by a female name and refer to it with female pronouns.

I don't think the cat really cares. But it is funny.

That person is either deluded or joking; animals don't have enough self-awareness to have a self-image, let alone a gender identity.

That's weird.....I have a male friend who has a female cat named "Carl" ...just because.

I can take a joke and am not insulted in this case, but, I think someone may be a cheezburger short of a McDonald's here

Goodness...a little bra with six little cups!

lol lol lol

I don't believe an animal can be transgendered, as gender is a social cultural idea. Maybe transsexual, if the animal was shown to be acting as the other sex to which it was born. I don't find it offensive or amusing. I just think that cat's owner needs to get out a bit more!

A joke than could spawn an entire industry!

Well I see it as just another case of people caring so much more for their pets than for people. This person doesn't have a site to raise money for starving children, just a kitty sex-change. To me the thought that a person can make a living as a pet psychic is ludicrus enough, but now we open the dor for pet psychics specializing in gender identity issues, pet hormone treatments, not to mention the veternaian SRS/GRS surgeon. How much is a cat fare to Thailand? And what if poor Bubba only grows 2 or 3 nipples - she'll be shunned and then require more therapy and tiny little implants - wow a whole new industry. That will call for regulation and some sort of governing board - we don't want a lot of cats, dogs, rats, etc getting a sex-change on a whim. Yes, I can see a need for very careful regulation. Did she mention how Bubba did on the COGIATI as a means of some indicator or did the cat just say, "I'm a girl and this idiot is calling me Bubba!"

I am not offended, but ever amased at the level of stupidity that surrounds pet ownership - excuse me we don't own pets any more we adopt them (and highways) just like people. Maybe this person, who is so well intentioned and aware of the devistating effects of being transgendered, should find a transgendered child to adopt and pay for the treatment. That will never happen!

Kia Ora,

I’m amused with this cyber psychological experiment that deals with human ‘gullibility’…Some people will do things like this for fun, just to see how ‘gullible’ some people are…Others will use this ‘gullibility’ to see if they can make money out of it…

 Umm, I wonder how many cat lovers have had their cats spaied/castrated =de-feminised / de-masculinised ? Oh wait... isn’t that a form of 'involuntary' sex change for the poor vagina/cat ?

Happy mindfulness

No, the story didn't hurt my felines.

Fur example, it would be 'cat'astrophic to have sent all that money then discover it was a joke.

And puns have never been a 'pet' peeve with me.

So this topic was purrfect... as I paws and wait for someone to add to this tail

Cat wait! :P:P:P

Shakespeare said that the pun was the highest form of humor and look where it got him - he's dead and people are debating wiether he actually wrote those plays or if they were actually written by a breakfast meat! (Bacon)

Just a touch of litterary humor - the more common belief was they were written by Marley - but that's a miserable attempt at a pun!

Love ya,

if they get away with a shorter, easier set of standards than we do, its time to lobby for psychiatric assessment of pet owners who think their pet is trans or worse yet androgyn

Tension is not a well-understood psychological state. It can be both positive and negative, much like stress itself. A 2015 research paper on the theoretical framework of tension notes it's an anticipatory emotional state which tends to be associated with: conflict.

I'd love to have a dinner party with Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Voltaire, and Ayn Rand.  Would definitely be an interesting time.

In the forward I learn that transgenderism is bad, and somewhere else that transgender ideology is bad.  I have not yet read a definition of either in the document.  I assume they are the same.  I know Focus on a Family has a definition of transgenderism on their website, or did, but I am not sure this is the same as that.  I might agree that transgenderism is bad if they use a definition I condemn (e.g. transgenderism means you always pour ketchup in your shoes before you put them on - I could not agree to that).  Is someone who believes in transgenderism, whatever it is, a transgenderist? I never see that term.  There may be other definitions out there, but I don't think there is an Official Definition that we all agree to.

Crazy fact, was gonna go to the school where this went down at before I moved, have a lot of friends there. I know at least one of my friends met the guy on one occasion, not knowing who it was.

They are thinking of Loudon.  The problem there was the girls were not protected from a known predator, who was moved from one school to another instead being effectively disciplined.  Outlaw school administrators? <sarc>

How ironic.  I agree with the governor "“You cannot change your gender; you cannot pick your gender…there is a confused group of people that somehow think you can,”    - we are what we are, we are fighting the fact we CANNOT change our gender, which we did not pick.  Many if not all of us would not have picked a trans condition and have sought to evade, deny or move out or resolve it anyway we can.  Those who are confused on this issue are not trans folk.  They want us to change our gender but they deny we can.  Confusion.

@FinnyFinsterHH no one can satisfy your questions about what will the future hold. But I can advise you to slow your mind down as much as you're able. Take it slow and one moment at a time. This advice goes beyond the practical reality that that's truly all you can do - further, try to enjoy each moment. It's clear you have a lot of aspirations regarding transition. But it's best to try to accept the bounds of your life circumstances at present because if you develop worries or even resentments about them, that will only make you bitter and more anxious. Instead, try to focus on anything you find affirming. Practice positive self-talk and give yourself affirmations too. Try to let go of expectations of your family members - they can only deal with change to the capacity they're able due to their own life conditions. Allow them grace as you wish they would allow you. Practice patience.   Try this exercise - read through your post and make one list of the positive developments and another of things you cannot control (including the future). If you have a sense of spirituality, offer the second list as a sacrifice to however you understand a higher power - leave it in their hands. If you're not spiritual, then offer it up to hope. Then throw that list away. Keep the list of positives and leave some room on it because guaranteed you'll have more and more to add. Look forward to that, but don't let your mind think it can rush things. Try to enjoy the ride.
