The Dark Knight Rises

Really? I know this forum is rather quiet, but nothing about the biggest movie of the summer? I was supremely hyped for this movie. I loved the past Batman films to death, and I've been anticipating this since the day it was announced!

I actually saw the "Dark Knight Marathon," something they were holding at all the Regal theatres where the entire trilogy was played back to back, culminating in the final entry at midnight. I came away thinking it was very good, but I have a feeling the 5 hours of movie I had already seen tired me out.

Soooo... I saw it a second time with my parents! And wow, was I blown away! Being awake and able to put together what was happening made it amazing. I loved the movie with a burning passion, almost more than its predecessor, The Dark Knight. At nearly 3 hours long, it clipped on at a very speedy pace, never leaving me with a moment of boredom. And Anne Hathaway! Boy, did I have my reservations about her role. I grew up with her role in The Princess Diaries, and I couldnt see her embodying the sexy Catwoman very well. And I'm soo pleased to be proven wrong!

Did anyone else see the movie? Anyone planning to?

I really want to discuss a particular moment in the movie that surprised me because of how well they pulled it off, but it's a massive spoiler so I'll wait a few days. For anyone who has already seen it, you know the part I'm talking about. The one where the audience all assumes that a character is someone they aren't partially because of expectations about their gender presentation?

Yeah, I think that would be a good thing to discuss once there are more people who have seen the movie.

Now i'm curious and have to see it. I'm sure to want the whole cat outfit and the bod to go with it. Oh well. Thanks for the reviews. Maybe there is something there that relates to this site

I'm planning on seeing it tomorrow. I'm super stoked. :) I'm kind of a movie nerd. Not like movie buff, more that I just love the (ugh, sorry for the lame cliche) the magic of cinema. XD

I know exactly what you're talking about. Indeed, you look at the character first as child and then who you think they are as an adult and then. . .

WHAM! KAPOW!

Holy gender confusion, Batman!

I, too, had doubts about Ann Hathaway and OMG!! Seeing her stretched out on that motorcycle made me ache. Talk about The Cat of Anarchy!!

As a friend pointed out, Nolan's three films are distinctly separate from the others simply by name, i.e. not 'Batman' but 'The Dark Knight.' I recall when Nicholson (who I believe to be possibly the most overrated 'actor' in the business) in discussing his portrayal of The Joker said: "You let the makeup do the acting."

And then along came Heath Ledger (R.I.P. )

And why are there no crying emoticons?

I <3 batman! Christian Bale is a HUNK and a HALF, definitely worth the 5 bucks I spent to see it.

Where did you see it for $5.?

You play the standup bass? OMG!I'm a keyboard player/singer myself, but I've always so much loved the double bass. Aside from the traditional model, there are some interesting things being done with electric models though they lose that classic look. Too, I once visited a sight devoted solely to people who had built/were building there own from scratch.

Lastly, I'm an androgyne and the issue of presentation seems to spark controversy. The fashion industry would have it that a successful androgyne look leaves the public wondering what you are. Okay, fine. I, however, am an extremely femmie genderqueer both at home and in public.

Hope we can be friends.

With love,

Chrysee Priscilla

P.S. Just how in the *&^%$@#!!!! do you spell 'femmie'? Femmy? Phegmy?
