I've been growing my real hair out and am trying to find a style that will work with my face.

I really like this style. The color, wave and texture is close to my natural hair.

Would something like this work for my face shape? I actually cant figure out what shape my face is, so if anyone can tell me that it would be much appreciated.

Michelle personally I think the style you have now suits u well . I know on the Internet there is sites you can go to where you have a photo of yourself and u add differnt hairstyles . I can't remember the name of it but I'm sure if u typed in the search bar you will find something .

Michelle, You look cute now and the style works for you. I would think the new style would work also depending on you brows and forehead. They are under bangs now. I have to admit i'm jealous as i'll never have my own hair again. Enjoy. One way to check styles is to go to a wig store and check out some quick "makeovers". Color can be off but a lot of good shape information.

Hugs,

Charlie

Dont get too jealous. I'll be getting a partial hair system to fill in a thinning area and get a nice hairline. The good thing about the system is I can choose the type and placement of the hairline.

It looks like you might have a diamond face shape, whereas the lady in the picture has a heart face shape.

I never thought I had a diamond shaped face, I always thought it was sqaure, but when I searched google images for it, I guess I do. Thanks!

I just noticed the typo in my subject, I must have been really tired when I posted this.

I'm in the same boat, my hair is long enogh to reach my shoulders and I don't know what to do with it. I keep hoping my support group will know someone who is CD freindly but no luck so far.

My natural style is not bad and suits my face (see gallery) but I would like to have someone clean up the edges and show me how to look after it.

Rita,

I started using a tg friendly stylist this spring and am very candid about everything including that I want it left long enough for the variety that can be created using rollers. She's a good fit. The salon's name has the word "color" in it, so most customers are 40 and up...the mothers or grandmothers of prom queens, lol! I'm very comfy there even though its brightly lit with a fair amount of chrome. The stylist's stations are set up with a little privacy in mind in that they are not in rows, nor are they facing each other. Everything is set up angled and with display stuff around. I really like the ambiance.

Since you have no referral from others, I'd simply pick up the phone and start calling, based on convenience of location. I'd state that I was looking for a trans friendly stylist who could help with femming up the hair and that I wanted a salon with a floor plan that was configured where the customers weren't on display or where there was perhaps just a little privacy. You may make a few calls to get what you want. And you want a person and place where you can feel you are indulging youself. :)

Once you get it set up, you are really going to enjoy the experience. I tip pretty well and after the shampoo and cut, when the hair is still damp, she doesn't use a blow drier (heat can create brittleness and breakage), rather she runs a wide tooth comb through it slowly, over and over to air dry it. The hair is about eight or nine inches and it is incredibly relaxing and sensual to end the visit that way. Oh! and having a salon that caters to older girls, they know the hair is more fragile than that of a twenty or thirty year old.

For Michelle666, a good stylist will help you get a good cut by giving you recommendations and options based on the shape of your face.

To me, the indulgence of the salon makes up for a lot of tg frustration in life, lol!

Btw, someone told me salons are pretty tolerant about gender and sexuality issues since there are so many gays in the business, so there is no prejudice to deal with in most cases.

Hugs

Michelle
