Friends
I've been requested to post what my surgery cost were minus the costs of my eye surgery which ive already posted.

I had surgery with Dr Pichet Rodcheron in Bangkok Thailand. I spent 31 days as I had too stay and extra week recovering due to a Retinal Bleed that occurred while flying from Japan to Bangkok. Dr Pichet arranged for me to see a world renown Opthalmologist in Bangkok. My personal Opthalmologist in my hometown confirmed going to a conference in San Francisco to learn a new retinal tear repair technic and my Thai Eye Doctor presented a new technic of his..

Dr Pichet quotes you a price and he covers everything .

Surgical costs was $9100 for SRS and a little plastic surgery. He supplied all medications, sanitary napkins, 5 nights hospitalization, they would bring you anything you wanted from Thai food to American, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and that's all included in the surgical cost.

Mrs Mau was my interpreter and was soon a friend as well and she was supplied by Dr Pichet included in the surgery cost. I was picked up and returned to the Airport by limo and that's included. I was picked up and returned from appointments and that to was included. When they removed the first catheter, I was peeing fine at first, but my urethra began swelling and I called Ms Tak. She came over to my hotel room and recatheterize me at 10:00 pm. When I got ready to leave. He made sure I was stocked up with napkins and medications for my return trip. No extra charge for anything.

He treats you like family. His staff kept me laughing all the time.

Other costs, Round trip plane tickets including insurance was $2100. I took one taxi to and from the mall, 60 Thai Baht. 30 THB to the dollar so $2.00 taxi ride. I like to walk and there are two malls about 13 blocks from the hotel, so I walked. It provided wonderful exercise.
My hotel costs were $50 per day at 31 days came to $1550.00. Breakfast and lunch is a buffet of delicious Thai dishes, fresh watermelon, cantaloupe, and the most delicious pineapple. 2000 baht for an all you eat lunch or breakfast included meals That cost approximately $6.50 per meal. I lost 23 pounds. Misc expenses were laundry $7.00 to $8.00 dollars every 3 or 4 days. They charge for Internet approximately $6.50 per day and I called the states by Skype with pretty decent service. Supper ran from$3.00 to my most expensive meal at Joes Crab Shack which was 600THB or $20.00 , I ate Alaska King Crab, all you can eat with a few Thai beers to wash it all down.

I had a manicure and pedicure for $50.00. I spent $12000.00 to a maximum of $13000.00 dollars for all of my expenses for my SRS surgery.

I received a lot of care for very little cost. I'm 2 months postop and feel great with the only complication I've had is a Yeast Infection. Three days of monistatand and I feel pretty good now. I'm able to urinate without spraying and peeing all over myself. Its a little Issue, but oh nice when you sit down and not have a warm golden shower all over your bottom. It was two hours faster flying back than the trip over.

What scored a big impression with the Thaii staff, when I got to the hotel I couldnt sleep, and i asked the security staff to teach me how to correctly do a Wai. It's a sign of greeting and of respect. When I went to eat and I was hurting, the staff would make up different Thai dishes and bringing me enough to feed a football player yet I Ate very healthily while losing a lot of weight. I'm up to 28 countries that I have visited and I Iove the experience of Thailand. And I had world class care over there. Kathy

Thanx for the update Kathryn Julia. :friends:

It appears as if Billie De's and your surgical costs were approximately the same.

:ThanxSmiley: to all our post-op Members who have shared their experiences.

I am also able to vouch for Charlize's wonderful guided tour of Charlize's area.<giggle>

I highly recommend the AA tour as well even if there is an up-charge.

Lack of insurance coverage plus cost is exactly why I am considering Thailand. Plus I have a dear, dear friend who'd love to go with me for four weeks over there. :)

Thank you, Kathryn, for supplying your cost data to this thread. When I originally began merging cost data into Paula's original thread, it was with the goal of having lots of real world cases in one spot for our members to consider when choosing where to go for GRS. If insurance covered it, I'd lean towards Dr. McGinn or Dr. Bowers here in the US but with prices in Thailand (except Dr. Suporn) being half what US prices are, and with no insurance support, Thailand looks exceptionally attractive to me. :)

Update on GCS (Bottom surgery) costs performed by Dr. Bowers.

The number I heard "thrown around" at Dr. Bowers' presentation at SCC in Atlanta in September 2014 was $25,000.

For detailed information please consult with Dr. Bowers office.
