Urban Decay Eyeshadow, Brushes

Hello all you makeup loving ladies out there. Here's another one of my beauty loot posts.

Recently I've been dipping my toe into the beauty waters of eyeshadow, to add another option to my makeup routine and thus make this take longer than 15 minutes like I'm used to for my usual routine. Well, when I have the time and desire I'll add eyeshadow to my routine so it's not an every day thing but it probably should become one..

Anyway, I was in Ulta up in Chicago with the specific mission of finding some eyeshadow and brushes. I had been dabbling in eyeshadow previously but I figured if I got the good stuff then I'd be more happy with the results and more inclined to use it more often. So after combing the shelves and going up and down and back and forth I finally settled on a product.

Urban Decay eyeshadow pallette of their 10 most popular shades. I was skeptical at first. "How could any company just combine 10 of their most popular shades into one item? That would be like giving away profits!" I'm guessing that because they're not full size, it's enough to get you hooked on their products and then you come back and buy the regular size individual items. Sneaky....lol Well this lovely pallette has browns, and pinks, and green and blue and...half of these have glitter, half of these do not. They were nice enough to include a black glittery shade called Oil Slick which is great for doing a smokey eye. They also included a white glittery shade called Polyester Bride which I'll be using to shade the inner corner of the eye. I've seen it on other women and when done right it looks fabulous and amazing! I want to be that girl.

The pallette also comes with a little brush but with the variety of colors and multitude of applications, one brush isn't going to be enough. Since the pallette is shaped like a book and opens upwards, they were kind enough to include a built in mirror which makes seeing what you're doing much easier. For my first real adventure into eyeshadow, I think this would be a good starter set. The online reviews rave about how great this particular collection is, so that makes me feel more confident in my purchase. This also comes packaged with a small tube of eyeshadow primer, designed to go on your lid first and helps the eyeshadow stay put. It comes out of the tube a lavender color but it blends in easily.

Makeup brushes have been a new found surprise for me. I used to use the store brand and have found that MAC makes some fantastic makeup brushes and you really do get what you pay for. With that in mind, allow me to throw a little wrench into that equation. While browsing in Ulta I saw their collection of makeup brushes but I was very confused on which ones I need, which ones i don't need, etc. However I came upon a lovely little product called Ecotools and they have 5 eye shadow brushes in travel size form that are apparently both quality items and eco-friendly.Oh, plus they come in a handy little carrying pouch. Perfect! The brushes themselves are various bristle sizes between a small liner brush to a larger blending brush. I tried them out yesterday and was very satisfied with how soft they were and how easy they were to use.

At the Ulta store I go to the Urban Decay counter usually has one of the sales people real close who will show you how to do certain eye shadow effects, and will try to sell you the collection you bought there, the nice thing is that they take time to see you understand what is going on, and where. Good find!!!

I always use Urban Decay on my eyes. Not just the shadow, My latest is the smokey palette. I also use the 24/7 eye liner and their skyscraper and big fatty mascara. It is expensive but I find it easy to use and it lasts forever. I also use the primer.

I use various brushes that I've built up over the last couple of years.

Urban Decay is awesome. Great products that aren't tested on animals and a good portion of them are vegan. Since I care about those things, they get a thumbs up from me
