Hi everyone!

just an update,

Still waiting on Charing cross ...

can't wait any longer.....

currently presenting as male at work but nowhere else, and its all about to change ....

Those who need to know at work, (and the most trusted collegues) already know ....

"coming out" meeting planned.... check

Name changed by deed poll .... check

appointment with doctor to get "carry around" letter booked .... check

soon I get to be me all the time :)

Interesting that you get a carry letter. My doctor prepped one for me prior to full time it states my situation and that they will legally vouche in a most unfortunate detainment incident. However that doesn't appear to be standard practice here in the US.

For better or worse the only person that I ever have a copy of my carry letter to was the HR manager for my workplace. That's actually about the extent of medical disclosure I have provided them. As HR they can make themselves privy to some medical records if they really want(in the US, as a self insured workplace, my medical bills are literally paid from the workplace treasury)

Hi Jenny,

I believe that living full time is the most important part in transitioning. That is the point where you will know if you really want to live as a woman, and if so, in a short time "he" will seem so long ago.

As for a carry letter, my therapist wrote up one for me, mainly to use in the restroom. Although I never had to use it. Speaking of restroom, the first time I used the woman's restroom was one of the most challenging parts of transitioning I had to overcome.

Well I've done it now!! - I get to be me all the time

It was hard to tell everyone at work (I guess I expected a reaction - which never came) but it's all done now!

but how many phone calls + paperwork to change my name with everyone?! - seems never ending!!

Now I just need Charing Cross to get their fingers out, but so glad I've done this .... it feels like a great weight's starting to lift!
