I play it, even though it's not the best game ever I still like it. I only have one 80 at the time, Jecko, but I'm working on a shaman.

why, jessie? you dont have to add peoples email, its only an option so you can add them and contact them if they are on starcraft, or diablo. its truely a very great system, like steam! it only makes it a little more inconvenient for the social tab, but totally worth it ^^

Oh it only bothers me a slight bit that the people are replying to the name I don't like to be called. But yeah it is a wonderful system.

Ahem... http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=25712374700&sid=1&pageNo=1

Yep it was coming. It will only get worse should this be implemented. It's basically a "post your real name on the forums or don't post at all."

That's wonderful, because we all know the damage that can be caused with just a name over the internet. This is the single worst idea I've ever seen them come up with imo.

I really at a loss for words on this. Just let the 1000+ page 19000+ post thread(which currently holds the wow record for longest thread ever) tell you how bad of a idea this is if almost every post in that thread is anti real id.

I've never played but I've been interested for a while. What's the best way to get started, and how much does it cost?

Well 15 bucks a month after you buy the games and their expansions. I don't know what the price on them is at the moment. However when the real id thing goes through and they go through with their "other plans" for it I would say it might cost you your privacy. As a trans this would be doubly worse. If you haven't changed your name it shows your name on the forums as the name that's on your credit card. At the moment the real id in game is "optional" but with their plans they may make it so when you armory someone and thats looking up their character they play on, it may show their real name and the characters associated with that account.

Paranoid? You betcha, this is horrendously bad for a RP game to blur the lines of RP and real life and give out peoples real names. How long can you say you are a female or male before someone finds out your name? I'd hate to think of what happens.

However it's still a great game I just wish they wouldn't do something so terribly dangerous for people, if anyone were to find out your name all they have to do is look it up, pay for the info etc and boom your address, your number etc and with the hate crimes on trans being so high I fear what would happen should they find out...

Ashley, uber paranoid? Just be safe please, all of you. However it's like 15 bucks a month, 60 for the bundle pack i think. Another expac is supposed to be coming out this month I think. That will be another 30+ dollars I think.

Isn't there a law against offering up my private info on a silver platter? If that's what they're doing then forget WoW. I'll stick with Diablo II.

Actually that's the bigger problem, at least to me. They're planning to expand that realid or whatever to battle.net too, which affects ALL Blizzard games... meaning, I won't buy another blizzard game. I mean it's just SUCH a bad idea... there's just waaay too many creepers who upon finding out your RL name would start trying to find your facebook/twitter/etc accounts and tracking you down. No thank you. They could AT LEAST hide the names by assigning each customer a customer ID number. It would protect your identity and allow them to deal with the other issues they have... but whatever. I hope the community somehow grows a brain and stops playing that game until that's removed.

Actually i think these days you can DL the trial for free, buy the newest xpac (next one isn't til holidays this year-most likely-closed beta JUST started like 2 weeks ago (xpacs for WoW have been 50 bucks btw)), and then pay your 15 bucks a month after your trial is up. Don't pay for anything til you have tried it. The Real ID thing is a sad pathetic joke, but i suppose the only good thing about it, is your name associated with your account (not your credit card-as some people use prepaid game cards) will only appear on the message boards (if you post), I rarely post as it is, and now i will never post (even though I AM changing my name and gender marker this month most likely). As with everything on the net, always use more caution than you think you should.

I decided to quit WoW 2 weeks ago, and I'm not sure if I'm even going to buy Starcraft 2 with this new real id nonsense. I have no idea what is going through their heads, but the price people would be paying to post on forums using their real names is potentially far worse than whatever annoyances are caused by trolls. I just shudder to think what could happen if some screwball decides to exact real, tangible vengeance upon someone that wronged him in-game.

Well, luckily for us all Blizzard decided to pull of their stupid idea (thank God).

Anyway... I was thinking we should all go to a server and create a Trans/Adro/Gay/Lesb/Bi Guild I think I'd be fun.

Actually I couldn't join ATM because I decided to quit until a month or so before CATA comes out. :P

I think CATA is gonna be the most fun expansion to date. Specially because I've been playing since vanilla, so seeing the world change in such drastic way, is awesome!

Oh yeah, my toons are:

Demon Soul:

- Veledesh Lvl 80 BE DK (very epicced out (reason I stopped playing))

+ Other toons

Hakkar:

- Jackineof (funny name I saw once in a porn site(I thought Blizzard would make me change it, but the haven't yet)) Lvl 73 Gnome Warlock

Actually on the Proudmoore server, there are several... The Stonewall Family is an awesome alliance guild and Taint is a pretty wild Horde guild..BOTH are LBGTQ friendly. The Alliance one moreso, but i haven't been in the horde guild for very long (My rogue is only 19), but on alli we have peeps of all levels ans I have 2 80s and a 45ish. Transferred 2 from an other server :P

If you, or anyone for that matter decides they want to roll over there, drop me a PM and I will give you my toons names and direct you to our guild site to sign up.

Thanks to discovering wow my already non-existent social life became even more so :P

I started on Velen cause, well, it said it was for new players when I started playing.

I skimmed the last 2 pages of this thread because the rest of the posts were about a year old, so I apologize if I missed it, but is there a list of LGBTQ friendly guilds on each server somewhere? I finally decided to join a guild about a month ago and within a few days one conversation led to another and they found out I was bi. After that I was labeled everything from a "man hating, butch a small levee" to "it", I was told to shut up and stop talking almost immediately when I mentioned my ex bf and ex gf and they figured out I was bi. It kind of scared me if they had found out I was trans too, probably would have had to leave the server. Even though it was only 3 people in the guild giving me grief, no one else said anything or stood up for me so I left the next day.

So a place to socialize and not have to be afraid what I might let slip about my real life would be nice.

I don't know about that, check the server forums. Also, as I said earlier, Proudmoore is "famous" for being LBGTQ friendly with at least 2 HUGE guilds, and I know of several others.

Proudmoore is THE place that's most famous for GLBTQ-friendly guilds.

I, personally, cannot quit WoW until the next expansion. I just got a second toon to 80 (Hunter) and I've been playing like a mad woman to get decent gear on her.

So now that makes 2 toons at 80, 1 at 73, and a few others below 50.

I also realized that melee DPS to me is really really boring. I'm bored with my Death Knight. I'm bored with my Paladin. I'm kind of bored with my Druid. My Warlock and Hunter, though (the two 80s). They're lots of fun. :)

Yep, I am a member of the Stonewall family just taking time off til Cata... i mean i have 6 80s all with GS a min of 4500, and 3 over 5k so there's not really much for me to do besides raiding which i refuse to do. I am not missing it so far.

Eh, the only reason I play WoW is to socialise... 13 80's already, (5 being priests), and I don't have the connection to raid (not even 10 man) I just disconnect every 3 seconds, and I'm limited to strand of the ancients at max for PvP, and Winters is out of the question!

So...

I talk and level, and play the Auction House :<

I've tried quitting before... But All my mates keep pullin' me back in!

Now you've got me walking a tightrope :P

5 priests/ sheesh i had lvled one to 60 when that was the cap, deleted it and rerolled horde priest and that was more than enough..the most numerous class i have rolled is shaman and warrior, but shaman will always hold a special place in my heart.

I tried a priest but then deleted her because I just couldn't get the hang of it.

Then I tried a shaman and deleted her because I kept forgetting to put totems down and I didn't like having to be confined to fight close to where the totems were. I also tried an undead mage and that ended badly.

I'll just stick with my warlock and my hunter.

My DK is my herb and mining toon anyway for my lower level alts. :)

Never had that issue, as the totems do have a 30 yard range, and heck, when i am enhancement, I killed things too fast to worry about the totems effects :D Ele is a different story. But as it seems alot of caster will become more mobile (something mage do NOT need) the totem thing may become more of an issue.

Thank for the birthday wishes, everyone!!!   It started great...and then I was rear-ended at a highway construction site this morning. I'm OK. The woman who hit me was shaken - was going fast enough to deploy her air bags. I was at dead stop. Her car had to be towed away. My truck too a hit to the tailgate and the bumper. It seems OK otherwise but I'll know tomorrow when they do the appraisal.   UGH!   Happy Birthday to Me!! :-)

"How did it go yesterday? Any trouble in Millville?" He shook his head. "Your biscuits and gravy are great." "Mama's recipe. She taught this girl to COOK." "Uh-huh.  Well, it rained the whole time.  We did the ground breaking in pouring rain.  Your friend, the former head of manufacturing, is now on the Board.  It looks like sunshine down there, he told me, with the missile plant starting up and they re-hired all the people they fired.  Millville Products is as it was.  And the Chinese money is still coming.  That was just an ugly rumor.  Gibson quit, but you knew that." "Missile plant, huh.  Yeah.  Gibson and I may go into business.  But I have been thinking-" "Yeah.  It's been declassified.  I can tell you they made missiles for Navy ships and planes during World War 2. It was shut down after Vietnam.  Several other supporting companies are moving in - paint, electronics assembly, a few others - that support missile production." "Okay."

I'm on the ballot being mailed tomorrow for an open US Rep seat.  I have both an honorable discharge and an other than honorable discharge.  I told the Navy that I was smoking pot every day right after Y2K.  I told them that while I was in the Navy, I substituted alcohol for marijuana and that the alcohol was making me violently sick.  After 5+ years of that, I said enough is enough and I went back to smoking pot.  I got better and I felt like the quality of my work was improving.   I certainly wasn't the perfect military member, but I excelled at my job and earned a promotion in boot camp.  They drug tested our unit several times after I told them I was smoking pot and I may have never tested positive.  I was opening smoking pot in the Navy for 3 or 4 months before they decided to kick me out.  At my captain's mast, the captain tried to shame me by saying I looked bad in uniform and that I was a disgrace, but all my evaluations said that I looked great in uniform.  I took great pride in looking good in my dress blues and whites.  Sure, I had grown my hair out a little bit (you know, it's not like I became trans in my 50's all the sudden) and I was enjoying some green anodized eye glasses :)   I think that people get very emotional about these kinds of issues when they should be concentrating more on engineering things and work performance.  I think we should take the lead and talk about our professional lives more instead of focusing on this type of politics.  That's a great document and I saved the PDF to my hard drive.  I think we should have more respect for the production that China is doing instead of concentrating on raising a military defense against them.  I personally disliked the hazing rituals in the Navy and think our military would be better off with being more accepting and intelligent.

My snarky comment of the morning is that Trump may be the first president sworn into office from a jail cell.  He can't keep his mouth under control.  It's likely he may be serving time for contempt for violating gag orders in January if he keeps it up, and the judges are more than happy to slap fines and imprisonment on him.

For one thing, this is Rolling Stone, who is convinced that the right is evil and writes articles from that perspective.   For another, he did not call out for eradication.  His answer was lousy, I did not like it, it was ambiguous, but he denied being for eradication of transgender people.   I still don't know what transgenderism is, but I see it as distinct from transgender people.   Conservative TG people need to become politically active and actively dialog and engage with these people..  Dang it.

Here's some inspiration. Wheels within wheels.
    • Lydia_R
Yes, totally.  That's a great story about your math history @Vidanjali!  Wow!   People tend to forget or are not aware of grads instead of degrees and radians, but that is becoming a big deal to me in the idea of coding a trigonometric function.  If you set your calculator to grads and then do the sin of 33.33, it comes up with .4999, you know, pi/6.  The significance here is that by dividing pi/2 (radians) into 100 units (grads) instead of 90 units (degrees), you are now in a base 10 space.  And when we are dealing with decimals (in base 10), and trying to convert them back to ratios, then notating our angles in the base 10 system of gradients seems like it is the key to coding the trigonometric function.   Then again, this has all kind of been a revelation to me the last couple days.  It's fun to combine math with code and I'm looking forward to writing some algorithms around this.  My last job was coding software for a healthcare company and there was no math involved in that and that was a depressing part of that job.  The long hours of that job kind of created a spiritual backlog of wanting to do some math work and I think that energy is busting out right now.

Went out to get the mail.  I was thinking that I only have dysphoria when I am dressed like a guy as I walked out there, looselimbed and feeling femme.   Get with the program, girl, says I. I am supposed to be dysphoric when I am wearing women's clothing, not the other way around.  In the past I have worn women's clothing like this and after a while said I guess I really don't have GD, switched to male clothing until I gave it up, miserable, and went back.   Dreaming of a nice skirt-suit set.  Looked at them on Amazon.  And a peasant skirt with a nice lacy top.  And a denim skirt, worn with tights, boots and a turtleneck.  A girl can dream.
    • Vidanjali
Yes, indeed. It's nice to think about. Calculus allows you to work with an infinitely-many-sided regular polygon which may as well be a circle.    I worked with such ideas within my master's thesis which was a history of the Jordan Curve Theorem. Basically, the theorem states that if you draw a circle on a piece of paper, that the circle separates the paper into two distinct regions - the interior of the circle and the exterior of the circle. Turns out it's not so straightforward to prove rigorously, especially considering all they had to work with at the time the theorem was stated was Euclidean geometry. It took generations and the development of new fields of mathematics before any correct proof was established.
