Extended Family

I'm sure a lot can relate to part of your journey in life having to find a family of your own due to the fact the one you grew up with may have not been accepting or just was doing more harm than good. What's ya'lls experience with your family whether it be your blood related or extended family?

For me, it's been a long hard journey, but worth it nonetheless. I can count on less than one hand blood relatives I consider family. I always say family is thru actions not necessarily DNA. I'm glad to say thru my journey in life I've gained a bigger family thru my travels. Some know bout my gender, others I'm still working up to tell, but sending subliminal messages to see if they catch on or not. And I know my family will continue to grow as life goes on.

In my case, my family is accepting. Some were quick to accept. Others took time. Some would vascillate going from OK to NOKand back until things have settled down.

It took me a long time with long exhausting conversations with my family, but all is good now
