it only took a half hour to say "we need to talk"

(okay 23 and 1/2 years and a half hour)

i started with letting him know about my suicide attempts

then went to the whole 'i am transsexual' part

got some stunned silence

some stammered responses, mostly supportive

told him i have an in line support group

and i printed a bunch of info he might want to look at

and some poems

told him about finding a specialist

he is shocked and confused

he is trying to be supportive

but it is too soon to really tell

he seems overwhelmed, so i kept it simple

but he avoided the material i printed out

i would feel better if he read it

basicaly it went well...

i think i am going to faint now

Don't faint Naomi,

But I do think that it went about as well as can be expected.

The transsexual part might not be what had him stunned, a parent hearing about his child's suicide attempts has to be shaken.

Give him some time and always be patient.

This was a big step, I am so proud of you for taking it.

Love ya,

Sally

he was surprised at the transsexual part

it's funny, he remembered some things i don't remember

but not the things i do, like a few times i was 'caught' or the times he found some of my clothes...

i spent a half hour trying to muster the courage to say we need to talk

finally he got tired of it and asked what was wrong :P

still stunned

Wonderful!

I'm very proud of you, Girlfriend! You DID it!

that is great.......

Save the fainting for later....you'll probably get a lot more questions now that the flood gates are open! But, now you're prepared!

Remember, coming out to a family member seems to bring on the response.."Oh, yeah...then that explains..XXXXX"!

lol

Good on you, Hon!

Love

What a relief that must have been, for you and in a strange way for Dad also. The wondering and questions he had as he watched you grow and the fear he had for his darling child as you withdrew from his life are beginning to be answered...big hugs to you and now I hope the communication will flow like tears of joy between you both ...happy for you...and congrats for the courage and overcoming the fear of "TRUTH".............. Mia.

it sounds similar to when I came out to my mom.

I was like "ummmmmmmm uhh...............mom, don't freak out okay? ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........it was raining a lot today huh?"

"just hurry up" - her

"oh..um, ok...um........uerr...................derr........................"

and times that by 100 times and I finally was able to come out too.

Anyways, congrats. I'm sure it'll take time for your father to swallow the information, but it sounds like he responded very responsibly and give him sometime... *hug* g'luck.

A bit late in updating, but I've had the draft of the official diagnosis and have (as yet unconfirmed) an endo consultation next month.   Next to arrive will be the supporting documentation for my new passport application for my correct gender.  This will then be my official ID for all the other updates - bank, tax, payroll etc.   It just feels good to to be proactive again rather than waiting for other people to move at a leisurely pace.

I like ELF brand cosmetics, I can pick them up at JC Penny.    I wear makeup everyday, but mostly just very light makeup.

Hi Mae Be, whenever it comes to makeup, there are so many different bands to choose from. Picking out the right makeup comes with trial and error, until you find one that works for you and blends well with your skin tone, some makeup products can leave the skin feeling oily. It's a good idea to look at the labels on the makeup product to know what the creators put in the makeup, just in case skin allergies. Once you found the makeup brand, you can add it to your shopping list, good luck

To be fair I’m pretty lost when it comes to makeup technique. I’ve watched videos, but I have no idea what works for or would help my features. So I just bungle along, hoping I don’t look terrible.
