And rightly so!

Everyone knows how highly contageous Transsexuality is, that's why they are so afraid of us - one kiss and you need a whole new wardrobe, Baby!

A little twist on the old kiss a frog and make him a prince fairy tale - kiss a prince and turn him into a princess!

So that means that every time you two kiss you'll be changing genders again - male, female - female, male - male, female - oh your poor brains!

A view of transsexuality from the stupid side of the fence!

As I look around where I live, I long for the olden days when each village had only one idiot!

You will make it Nate and so will James, it just takes time and as young as you are that is one your side!

A little wit (very little) and wisdom (even less) from Sally.

*gigglesnort* Oh that made me laugh. xD I envisioned the whole scene while I read your post...wouldn't it be nice if a magic kiss could truly turn you into the opposite sex though? ;]

Thank you Sally, you're so sweet. Don't doubt yourself, it was very witty and quite a brilliant little story. You made me smile dear!

Nat

Hang in there sweet - you know who you are, that's what's important

Lizzy

Thanks Liz, you're a doll. ^^ You're all so nice. Just talking to you cheers me up. :3

I started to live ful time as a male a little over 10yrs ago, I 've been on T for almost 2yrs. Not that many people know that I'm trans except for my imediate family, and my two best friends, but I've known them for about 20 yrs.

Just on this forum. Starting to have, in therapy... hopefully soon, I can dress full-time at the very least.

Funny story, though--I was at the mall in pretty androngynous clothes for a 'girl,' baggy pants, sneakers, layered shirts with some anime character on then and my normal messy hair x glasses... Passing as an ordinary nerd in FYE or gamestop etc etc. I felt really good, my mom knew it--She asked, "Are you on a stealth mode or something?"

I shook my head no, she went on with "You don't look like your Sarah self today.")

Which makes me happy, to have a conversation about xBOX vs PS3 in a real guy-on-guy chat in the store, whoa; I have arrived *dons dazzling crown of far from manliness*

.........................................Until my mom yells, "SARAH! WE LOST YOUR SISTERS!! COME EAT, HONEY!!"

Me: .......

Them: Mike?

Me: Igottago *speeds* "Sarah, sarah--"

Them: gotta find your sister Sarah?

Me: NAH, It's ok, I gotta find her myself! *dash*

Them: ...*goes back to work*

That, AND an incident in line where three girls were watching me from the food court--my mom overheard them saying--"He's kind of cute. In the glasses. Kinda short, but isn't that *so and so*'s type?" "You can't date a nerdy guy like that, but he's a cute type"

Me: *pretends not to hear, leans casually against steaming hot frying oven to look cooler*

Frantically during leaving thru Sears, Mother was practically throwing dresses and skirts at me to try on 'the cuteness.' I just told her it wasn't my style, and that we can't afford it. I think she is catching on.

Once she catches on, I wonder if she will allow me freedom to dress more like a man... or use proper bathrooms... My transition is just starting, so strangers know. But the people I keep closest do not acknowledge its importance. YET! I don't think I can hide it much longer, unh it gives me a stomachache~~

I am only out to my therapist, support group and all of you here at Laura's. I may be coming out to my best friend this week. Not sure how to go about telling him though, by email or in person.

Kia Ora,

I often read posts where posters talk about being ‘out’ but then they go on to say “but I’m still in male/female mode for certain people/appearances!"…

So the idea of this poll is to see how many of you are actually ‘out’ 24/7,ie, where ones former male/female/ personas are dead and gone-that is, you are living ‘full time’ as your affirmed gender…with or without a legal name change or surgery...

Metta Jendar :)

Jendar,

I hate to say this, but you need more options. I live about 25% in female mode, at night, when I get up and we aren't expecting visitors, support group, counseling and church. Sometimes, I am invited to activities where I attend in female mode. If I have to make stops at the library or the store when I'm already dressed full out, it doesn't stop me. I spend most of my weekend time in casual female clothing when at home.

About a third of my coworkers know I'm transgendered, but don't know I'm transsexual, as I hide my breasts as well as I can under my work clothes. I typically wear polo shirts with slacks for the androgynous look at work, and I usually go out androgynous on the weekend when going out with the family. Of course, today I was mistaken at a distance for being female, because as I was standing outside the Ladies room waiting for my daughter I was asked how many stalls there were. Even the CTO of my company has known about me for 6 months and the HR director is waiting for me to contact him.

All in all, I think you will find answers to this question probably as varied as number of people who are in mid-transition.

Oh, and I almost forgot, there may be about a 1,000 people and 42 cast members in DFW who met Sophie, as I performed at the monologues in March.

I agree with Sophie Jean, you need some more options up there, although I don't need any others for myself. If 'out' = stealth (but that's a question for another day), then I'm 100%.

...omg that had to have been embarrassing.

My father never ceases to point out to me women with, as he puts it, "big hooters". Every time he does I want to crawl under a rock and die. lol

Kia Ora Jane,

 I'm in the same boat, for me to 'come out' means I'll be telling someone that I was born with a penis/a male...

I guess we came out of one 'closet'with ["Hey I'm transsexual!"] and then slip quietly back into another[stealth or semi stealth]... so to speak... :D

Metta Jendar :)

I have a feeling that is the path I am taking. After two years of living female, all I want to do is

assimilate into my new role completely.Leave my past, just that in my past.My family and friends

will know who I used to be,but I want the world to only see a woman.I now understand(stealth)

and why so many of us choose to be.If questioned about if I am a transsexual,I/am,will be honest.

If not,and they wonder about my gender, leave them guessing.I have a long way to go.Still a preop.

So I don't know how I will be after surgery.

I'm only out to all of my really close friends. I've been blessed that they're so accepting of it.

I do however still need to let my parents know...

...and as far as transitioning I haven't really begun that yet (other than like my voice and other non physical things). If I could physically transition now, I would do it RIGHT NOW but... ahh its just so hard to get everything moving sometimes. As much as I NEED and WANT to, it's just not happening yet :( *tear* ...

I really really need a lot of support if I'm going to succeed in this, which is something I hope I can get with my parents--that's why I'm so afraid of talking to them about it. I also still need to find a therapist, but there's so many around here that I don't know which one to pick (lol). I want to start hormones sooo bad.

Lol, that's like the funniest thing I've ever heard. I can just picture you. "Sure, dad. Thanks."

I am delighted to tell you all that now that I've quit my job, filed my name change papers and COME OUT TO MY ENTIRE FAMILY I can now check the box that says 100% 24/7!!!!!

Everyone's been really supportive, I only get called my girl's name by accident now. I wear guys clothes, go in the guys' bathroom, just am a guy all the time and don't have to worry about it or stew about it in my head. Hoor-rah!

I'm really not very out and it's kind of weird. I'm planning to come out to at least my friends and immediate family pretty soon. I'm already out to like 5 of my best friends, my parents, and a pflag. That's about it.

It's gonna be weird, because my parents seem to want me to start T soon (which of course, I want to) but they also don't want anyone to know I'm trans, including my brothers, sister, and friends. And I'm holding off on telling my casual friends for a bit because they're all friends and one of them plays euchre, and it's really hard to find people who play around here. So I'd rather not jeopardize that situation based on a bad reaction. Trust me this is a good reason ;)

I'm only out here and with my therapist, my family, and two very close friends. I want to be more out, but at least for now I can't really be. Looking forward to when I can be dressing and be a woman openly.

Kia Ora Lightsider,

 What does this mean??? Are you living 'fulltime' as a 'female' or just part-time =still in male mode and only out to the above mentioned or are they the only ones that know of your 'male' past???...

Well since the option for 90-95% didnt exist I got a wee bit more conservative. The only place I'm not fully out is at work but that is about to change. How far out am I?? well that would depend who you ask.. some would say I'm far out man... yipes that hung a date on me...

At home its 100% and around town 100% and over the next weeks it will be moving to 100% at work as well (the manager knows and is 100% behind it)

The problem is that the more you try to hide it, the more demanding its going to get. I burried mine for 50 years (not that successfully at all) but once i was diagnosed and came out to a few people things just took on a life of their own.
