Hi Kerry,

I appreciate your concern about me self medding but judging by the amount of mistakes my GIC doctor has made about me and my case so far I reckon I'm actually safer self medding rather than leaving it in the hands of someone who just doesn't give a damn. Blood tests have also been pretty useless also so far because the variation I'm getting is huge. GP is also totally ignoring GIC doctors's letters which are full of mistakes anyway.

With 'care' like that I think I'll carry on self medding thanks.

I think you look good Anne, I think your breasts look good as they are but I also don't think if you wanted to go bigger that it would hinder you either. It would really come down to personal preference.. But I have spent time shadowing with cosmetic surgeons, and the number one reason most people get Breast Augmentation revisions is not because they regretted going so big.. 99 out of 100 patients it's because they regretted not going larger.

There often seems to be a lot of stigma in the community towards plastic surgery.. but I really don't see a point in holding ones self back just in order to meet some arbitrary requirement of being as natural as possible.

You've been warned about the dangers of self medding. Do as you will but keep it to yourself, please.

You might have gathered by now that I don't accept 'authority' in society such as doctors and lawyers, police officers etc in the same high regard that the majority of sheep (er I mean people) do. They are made of skin and bone like everyone else. Get things as totally wrong as everyone else does too. Got no more respect for them than a toilet cleaner.

Christina, as a retired 21 year reserve police officer (toilet cleaner), all I will say is that, should you ever have the misfortune of being a crime victim, I hope you can find a hippie or other like minded person to assist you in your quest for justice.

That's quite obvious.

I will NOT be told what I can and can't say!

Oh no, where did all of that turmoil suddenly come from? I was only trying to advise and now feel really sad that I seem to have started something off.

Chrissy x I am a lot like you. People in authority don't always know what they are talking about ( Dr. Richard Curtis of the London Gender Clinic) is one glaring example. There are many more examples. My motto is Question Everything. Things at face value don't often hold water. I always go for logical but sometimes emotional as well. There are no absolutes that I am aware of but the laws of physics. Everything else is hot air in my opinion.

My 2 cents.

I am just like Mary Ellen and Carolyn Marie here.

Self medication is extremely dangerous and down right foolish. It is not simply a matter of being against the rules which many of us may chafe at(i'm an old hippie) but too many deaths or serious injuries occur because of the misuse of hormones. I am acutely aware of this because of my heart disease. i'm skating on the edge as it is, even with good care. Is the care perfect, do they give me what i want...no ; but i am able to live my life for a bit longer.

This is simply not a place we can allow discussion of self medication. If you are self medicating it is on your own head but we cannot allow statements or suggestions that self medication is a path that any of our members should follow.

Please read the terms and conditions especially #18.

Well as a Medical Student (Future toilet cleaner) I really have to agree that we cannot advocate people self medicating. Just because someone can go wiki the chemical properties of hormones and anti-androgens does not mean that one is even remotely informed enough to treat them selves with drugs. Anything you put in your body can have serious effect, and just because someone is trans and feels it is their right to transition unhindered doesn't mean that they are even remotely qualified to bypass their Doctors. I am sorry Crissy that you are apparently having such negative experiences with your doctors.. However as you said.. people in the medical field are only human.. However that doesn't make the education we go through meaningless. All a doctor can really do is help you make the most informed decisions possible, if your blood tests are highly variable then it could mean all kinds of issues that your body has with the hormones and makes it even more important that you work with a doctor to nail down the proper dosages.

The attitude that you can just play with your dosages till it feels right, is insane. You can't just flood your body with a cocktail of chemicals and hope for the best.. You can trash your liver pretty quickly if your not careful and you have certain genetic dispositions. HRT isn't some magical solution that magically transforms people into the opposite gender.. you are literally altering your bodies bio-chemistry and if its done incorrectly it can have deadly effects. It's not a game, and you reckon incorrectly when you say you are safer self medicating than going through the proper channels.

This post is from a few days ago on my hormone anniversary. As it says my prescribed hormone levels have always been on the low end, but read the post yourself!!

It's pretty easy to find my adventures with boobs here, and there are a list of you who have met me IRL. In a nutshell, mine are most likely what I would have had as a natal female. They have been poked and prodded and x-rayed and even biopsied. Per my HMO, they are dense female breast tissue which does up the careful factor for cancer and cancer detection but otherwise look fine. They ARE NOT and have never been a source of my "being read" and I wear bras when I damn well feel like it, also enhancers, and every now and then actual silicone forms with no one bothering me in a way that bothered me. They are a forward part of my personality, but only a part.

None of you who I have met IRL has told me I was a Pirate's Dream*. I go with the folks who say that self medication is a path to disaster.

*A pirate's dream is a sunken chest!!

Anne (G-A-L- E),

Yes, breasts do grow after a year on HRT. I've been on HRT just over 2 years and the majority of my growth has been this past year (especially after my levels were tweaked to bring them to the correct levels).

Eva,

Twinges in my boobs are the signal tome that that they are growing too.

Starting HRT this week (the estradiol patches were out of stock at my pharmacy last week). It's obviously a big first step in my transition and one that has been long delayed by my initially unaccepting wife (who now has dropped her opposition). My biggest initial apprehension is the much talked about emotional roller coaster in the next few months. Something that my endocrinologist also mentioned as a possibility (probability??). How troublesome will it likely be? Will this be me soon:

I am not going to laugh at this one although I want to.  We have had some school districts here in California try the same shenanigan against our state laws. (Same result as in this case, State law supervenes local law.    I have an idea though, put skates on the county honcho and make him race against all the women in the organization doing the suing there.  I think most of the Cis women would beat the liver out of him, now what is fair?

https://www.wbtw.com/news/grand-strand/horry-county/lgbtq-community-reacts-to-sc-approval-banning-gender-affirming-care-for-transgender-minors/     If not struck down by the courts this bill will hurt trans kids.  And that bit about "don't worry, you can transition when you're an adult?"  Don't believe that for a minute; come next session, adult trans health care will be targeted.   Carolyn Marie

I already tried that. Either too old like 60's and 70's or married. Not many people who would want to date a trans woman in dead red Mississippi. Maybe once things calm down just get a Mustang GT and just give up on it. Both are going to bring joy and pain. At least I could learn and share my love of cars with my kids when they get that old. I wouldn't even know what to do if someone said they wanted me. I would've already been thinking in my mind they are just going to ghost me so what's the point. I just don't know what to do anymore. I tried putting myself out there online and out in person. I haven't tried a bar yet although that's probably a bad idea. Maybe just to experience it again. I haven't been to one since 2013. The only problem I see is I'm not a night owl for sure. I go to bed at 8-830. My expectations were just that I wouldn't get rejected last. I have been able to handle a good bit of it but this one really hurt. I guess that's what happens when you have some hopes and expectations. It's not like I have another friend IRL to talk about this. She is my only one. I wished I didn't put myself out there.

As one who had to deal with the Porn/Adult Entertainment business as commercial, taxpaying businesses on a professional level, I can say that they are in it for money and the highest percentage of their income comes from ultra conservative areas where adequate Medical and Mental Health Profession and University Science instruction on Trans issues are banned.    It makes me wonder how much porn literature is hidden behind the 13 Bibles and Bible Study guides on some people's family bookshelves.

There's the old thing of getting out and getting involved in things in the community and meeting people that way. Does your church have a food pantry? Does it have service opportunities you could plug into otherwise? You might run into someone that way.
