Liz (that's me) had a date yesterday.

The rumors are true! Believe the hype! Grasp your pearls in shock and disbelief!

Liz went on a date yesterday afternoon and....it was okay. I didn't see fireworks or wedding bells but it was okay.

So I had been talking to this guy for a few days on OKCupid (I know, I know...) and we seemed to really hit it off well so I suggested we meet up Monday afternoon. Monday morning came and we still hadn't decided on a place, so I took to Yelp and looked for most popular restaurants. One that kept sticking in my mind was Frenchy's and since I had never been, and I was in the mood for seafood, it seemed like a great idea so that's what I proposed to him. Also it's half-way between us so that would be fair for driving. We agreed to meet for a late lunch around 3:30.

Then I had to figure out what to wear. (girlmergency!...or was it?) Well, that was pretty easy. It's chilly out! I'm definitely not wearing a tank top in this weather, so boring t-shirt it is, with hoodie over it and jeans. Since I'm meeting 'some boy' I decided to go traditional girl and wear my hair down and since it's casual, my typical day time makeup routine. Easy peasy!

He arrived about a half hour early because he didn't want to be late, so of course that meant him waiting on me. (typical Liz, always making the guy wait for her). So I pulled up and since Frenchy's is on the beach, I found a pretty awesome public parking spot where I didn't have to feed a parking meter. (Yeah!)
We finally found each other and hung out outside for a few minutes just in case he took one look at me and wanted to be like "nope!" and leave.

Since he didn't want to leave, we went inside and Frenchy's is a very casual beach restaurant. We sat inside because it's chilly and we ordered. Our awesome waitress of course took my order first (ladies first, naturally) and I opted for the blackened grouper sandwich and he had a blackened chicken sandwich. I also ordered this bacon-wrapped scallop appetizer that was fantastic!

So anyway, we ate...and talked...then after paying the bill (he paid! *swoon*) we walked on the beach for a little bit and sat down on some beach chairs and talked for a little bit. After a little while he hinted at wanting to get going so we started to stand up but were then sidetracked by some kind of thing going on at a hotel next door so we just stood and watched and tried to figure out what the heck was going on over there.

We finally walked back to my car and I put my purse inside. We hung out and talked for a little bit, not really wanting to say goodbye. He hinted at wanting to kiss me but didn't want to move too fast because he remembers from my profile that I'm a bit of an old fashioned kind of girl. I told him I wouldn't mind (it's just a kiss, I mean hello!) and it would be 6 weeks before he sees me again. I think that was the motivation he needed to go ahead and make his move to kiss me. It was either that or after I showed him my tongue ring. No, I think that made him think some impure thoughts where he had to take a few steps away and calm something of his down. (Liz, you're a naughty girl) I'm a horrible tease.

Anyway, he went for it (I love a guy who makes the first move.) and we kissed a few times and that was nice. He didn't go wild and crazy with the tongue and he wasn't all sloppy saliva either. It was nice! It was enjoyable.

Soooo...that's it! Then as he walked back to his car, I hopped into mine, let my mom know that I was done and heading home and took off.

The end.....until February when I'm home next. ;)

p.s. forgot to mention: he knew I'm transgender from the first time he messaged me

I just love reading of your escapades. If that trucking thing don't work out, maybe writing would be a good option for ya. But I hope that you at least make a stop in Memphis so we can do lunch sometime, before you start your career as an author. ;)

It sounds like you had such a lovely time.

I'll be smiling through the day.

Groovy date Liz!,

Thanks for sharing, it sounds like a nice time. Alex, and I are both glad that we found each other without needing to go into the dating scene, it can be hard for us trans folk. I love reading your posts, you do write very well, and entertainingly. :)

hugs,

i had no luck on okcupid. the guys who contacted me all wanted sex i got fed up after a while and deleted the profile

Oh, I get those, too. Trust me, I get those A LOT. I just ignore them. The really bad ones I show to my friends (after covering up their name).

I also get a lot of one-word "hey" messages. I don't respond to those either.

Humm I wonder what all that dating stuff would feel like as my true self... Since most everything else seem better, more real, I would imagine it would feel very special, especially if things went well (romantically).

Happy for you girl!

I've been on OkCupid for some time. Since I'm in Spain, and that site is English only, that already acts as a demographic filter: only people with some basic skills in English will have profiles there. This may exclude some genuinely interesting people, but also leaves out a lot of boring "macho ibérico" guys. Also, I love the site's option "I don't want to see or be seen by straight people." Again, this may exclude some interesting users, but that's the price for keeping a lot of annoying ***** at bay. I've found some interesting people and had a few friendly meetings, but no actual "dates" through that site.

I also have a profile on Badoo, and that's a whole different thing: the site is available in Spanish, and there are very few filtering options, which means a larger user base (at least in my area) and an awful noise/signal ratio: For each message worth replying, I get like a hundred worth blacklisting. No "dates" so far on this site either, and only have had one meeting, but I won't shut any door.

In summary: the best thing about personal contact sites is that you can find all kinds of people there; and the worst thing about those sites is that you can find all kinds of people there.

I'm glad your date went well, Liz. Will you let us know if there is a follow up?

Hugs,

Edu

funny you should mention a date, Lizzie. I actually went on one last Sunday and it went great. I was going to post my own topic to not derail your thread, but I think it's great. I also want a tongue ring as well :D

Wow, thanks for sharing Liz, you girl - ROCK (sorry for shouting excitedly).

I really enjoyed reading about your date and he sounds like quite a Gentleman (there don't seem to be many of those around these days) AND a nice kisser too. Wowzers. I'll bet you are counting the minutes let alone the days. Good for you Liz - I'm thrilled for you.

There is just a feeling that this is normal when I wear f clothes.  As a biological male I am supposed to, I suppose, experience dysphoria in f clothes. Instead it is reversed.  Sometimes there is euphoria about being a girl, but it is because my self-perception is lining up with my self-expression. Clothing is actually secondary.  Or third.  Secondary is what my body looks like.  I am a girl regardless of what I look like. I just am one.  As I get used to this I will probably stop talking about it.  Most women do not go around announcing they are women all the time.  They talk about themselves but the presupposition is that they are women.  Never a matter of debate.

Do you feel euphoria when wearing feminine clothes? I'm curious about why you think you are supposed to feel dysphoria in fem clothes. I totally get why you would feel dysphoria with masc clothes. For me what urged my transition forwards was the amount of gender euphoria I got from dressing like a guy , and my dysphoria from wearing anything remotely fem got worse and worse until i get rid of evey fem article in my wardrobe and all my makeup, so I could concentrate on just being me and chasing the euphoria. Dysphoria didn't go away though, because I've been misgendered constantly and it hurts more when dressed in my man clothes . However now I'm on T, my doubts and dysphoria have massively lifted and I'm excited to see the masc changes to my body happening. I do have to learn patience though lol.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/desantis-touts-florida-lawsuit-seeking-block-biden-title-ix-changes   I did not find coverage of this on CNN or Reuters, so here is a Fox News article.   This expansion of Title IX definition will not make it through the courts.  Plenty of precedence exists for requiring this sort of expansion to have Congressional action. This was poorly done.  Biden should have pushed this through Congress to make it law, instead of using regulations that can be overturned when a different administration comes in.

Well that's no way to start off a birthday. Be sure to look at your frame just behind your rear axle to make sure it wasn't bent. When I was rear ended... At first look it appeared that my bumper was folded down, however the frame was bent which also bent the floor of the bed. I'm glad everyone is okay    Happy Birthday,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Well, I am a veteran.  I did manage to get an honorable discharge - just barely.  I was drafted to start with, and I wasn't wild about it.  But I figured it was my duty as a citizen, so there's that.  TBH I find it hard to stomach people who dodged the draft, going on and on about being such "patriots" and all, and literally hugging the flag. My egg hadn't cracked yet when I was serving, so I don't think being trans directly affected my time in uniform.  But there was most likely some subconscious stuff. Sorry, I don't think this is much use to you.

That was just one reference that came up.  I originally saw it somewhere else.  Technically, he did call for the eradication of "transgenderism".  But it would be hard to get rid of that (whatever it is) with us still here.     Yeah, later, when he got called out on it.   I don't really see how you can say this.  Sure he doesn't know what he's talking about, but the damage is real.   I will bend over backwards to give someone the benefit of the doubt.  But at some point…. I'm just not as limber any more.   They can say what they want, but actions speak louder than words, and when I see what is happening in red states it is obvious.  They do want to get rid of us.  I'm tired of pretending they don't.

For a time I would get an anxiety attack when I had to dress in male mode.  Haven't tried it in a while.

Indeed! Most happiest of Birthdays to you!

      Happy birthday @April Marie!

Thank for the birthday wishes, everyone!!!   It started great...and then I was rear-ended at a highway construction site this morning. I'm OK. The woman who hit me was shaken - was going fast enough to deploy her air bags. I was at dead stop. Her car had to be towed away. My truck too a hit to the tailgate and the bumper. It seems OK otherwise but I'll know tomorrow when they do the appraisal.   UGH!   Happy Birthday to Me!! :-)

"How did it go yesterday? Any trouble in Millville?" He shook his head. "Your biscuits and gravy are great." "Mama's recipe. She taught this girl to COOK." "Uh-huh.  Well, it rained the whole time.  We did the ground breaking in pouring rain.  Your friend, the former head of manufacturing, is now on the Board.  It looks like sunshine down there, he told me, with the missile plant starting up and they re-hired all the people they fired.  Millville Products is as it was.  And the Chinese money is still coming.  That was just an ugly rumor.  Gibson quit, but you knew that." "Missile plant, huh.  Yeah.  Gibson and I may go into business.  But I have been thinking-" "Yeah.  It's been declassified.  I can tell you they made missiles for Navy ships and planes during World War 2. It was shut down after Vietnam.  Several other supporting companies are moving in - paint, electronics assembly, a few others - that support missile production." "Okay."

That is, it's a great document in that it seems to clearly define things, not that I'm in agreement with it.

https://www.digitaltransgenderarchive.net/col/cj82k733h   I am now dissatisfied with the thread title because it seems to exclude Catholics and maybe others .  I am not sure what to change it to, so I will fuss over THAT now.

I'm on the ballot being mailed tomorrow for an open US Rep seat.  I have both an honorable discharge and an other than honorable discharge.  I told the Navy that I was smoking pot every day right after Y2K.  I told them that while I was in the Navy, I substituted alcohol for marijuana and that the alcohol was making me violently sick.  After 5+ years of that, I said enough is enough and I went back to smoking pot.  I got better and I felt like the quality of my work was improving.   I certainly wasn't the perfect military member, but I excelled at my job and earned a promotion in boot camp.  They drug tested our unit several times after I told them I was smoking pot and I may have never tested positive.  I was opening smoking pot in the Navy for 3 or 4 months before they decided to kick me out.  At my captain's mast, the captain tried to shame me by saying I looked bad in uniform and that I was a disgrace, but all my evaluations said that I looked great in uniform.  I took great pride in looking good in my dress blues and whites.  Sure, I had grown my hair out a little bit (you know, it's not like I became trans in my 50's all the sudden) and I was enjoying some green anodized eye glasses :)   I think that people get very emotional about these kinds of issues when they should be concentrating more on engineering things and work performance.  I think we should take the lead and talk about our professional lives more instead of focusing on this type of politics.  That's a great document and I saved the PDF to my hard drive.  I think we should have more respect for the production that China is doing instead of concentrating on raising a military defense against them.  I personally disliked the hazing rituals in the Navy and think our military would be better off with being more accepting and intelligent.
