Baltimore Gay Bar Throws Transman Out Of Bathroom

How do you get caught using the bathroom? If you pass, how do people know? People don't check your genitals. Is it because we don't pass well enough?

April

For an employer or school, if you're pre-op, your records out you.

I've been in a brown situation too... when there was no safe bathroom in sight. Yellow is more frequent, but brown isn't out of the question.

April, when people have bathroom problems it usually is because we aren't passing consistently enough. In my case, I still use only gender neutral bathrooms at school. On a college campus, where there are no kids, I stick out like a sore thumb. In public, I worry less because I blend as a 14 to 16 year old boy. When people of all ages are around, I generally feel safer.

In Seth's post, I think people knew who the transguys were because there was a drag show going on. I'm thinking it was one of the performers who got thrown out, so it would have been obvious who he was. I might be reading it wrong though.

Basically, we are in the most danger if we aren't passing consistently yet or if we are in a setting where people know who is trans.

I think MTF's have it worse with bathroom situations.

1. Women scrutinize everyone in the bathroom. Men generally don't.

2. Women are afraid of everyone...so again, they scrutinize whomever is in the bathroom.

3. MTF's are more likely to be tall for a woman. In my case, I'm 5'6". That's short for a guy, but it doesn't stand out. I think there are more guys who are 5'6" than women who are 6 feet and up. It's just a question of who stands out more.

I hate bathrooms.

Less than 1% of women are 6'0" and up.

10% of men are 5'6" or less.

I'm also 5'6"

25% of women are 5'6" or more.

But yeah, imo, it mostly has to do with

1) estrogen isn't as effective - we don't start at 12 or 13, so damage is inevitably done in most cases (and I was lucky)

2) women socialize more in bathrooms than men do

3) the height thing

4) outed by documents in a place where people are stupid about it (most places) even if you pass 100%, as long as you're pre-op

But even if you have the records, the record isn't sitting there at the bathroom.

But even if only 1% of girls are 6 foot, you can be that 1%.

It must be a combination of issues that lead to not passing. Oh well.

It may be that more men are 5'6. However, very, very few men are 5' (my height). I still don't have bathroom issues, probably because short scalp hair and grown-out facial hair allows me to blend - and because I'm usually in an environment where people know me as a guy. If a woman is over 6' but otherwise looks like she's cissexual, she'll be fine. If she's shorter and looks like she's transsexual, she may run into trouble.

If you're in a school or workplace, believe me, word gets around soon enough, secrecy means nothing to these people, as I found out at my job.

Thankfully, it caused no issues. I can use the women's room no problem, even if over 50% know.

@Birdie @Adrianna Danielle    @Willow    Big news today. We're moving to WA. My wife is taking a job and I am most likely losing mine, so it's adventure time. I'm supposed to be a risk-seeker (Aries, ENTP, etc.) but this is hitting every klaxon and alarm in my brain, but it's going to make my wife and kids happy and it will be a place to make new friends as me without the 45 years of binary baggage. There are tech jobs all over Seattle, which we'll be near, and it's a decent State for trans rights (I don't know how it compares to MN, which is a refuge state). So wish us luck! This could be the best thing ever or rocky as hell, who knows!

I know the feeling. I had to replace the dishwasher, fridge, stove. The only other issues that could pop up is the washer and dryer and the microwave oh I forgot the toaster.

That's the hard part of online relationships, they really never get to see the whole you. You either have to create a persona that will carry the day until they get to see you for who you are, or be open and take the risk because it's really easy for them to disconnect because there is little to no bond.   You have to share pictures of your puppy! I am not a dog person, but I can appreciate them in jpg format! My kiddos would love to have a pet, but we're all allergic in some shape or form and my wife and I are like, "no." :D

I'm sorry Birdie! I wished you could move to a non-stressful place.

I love shopping for cars with my imaginary budget lol. A mustang is always fun to drive! Every time I felt down or depressed I drove it and it made me happy!

Well things have actually been really good lately. I got a dog last Friday. I forgot how expensive they are but they are worth it. Now if I can just get him potty trained that would be awesome! He only has one particular spot inside that he likes so I try to watch him carefully. He is part German Shepheard and part Lab. He is very low maintenance. The sad part is that he didn't know what to do with a treat nor did he knew how to play fetch instead my youngest was playing fetch. He is kind of getting used to toys somewhat. I'm no longer expecting a relationship because I tell them what is wrong with me because I don't want them to be surprised about anything and they always ghost me. Oh well.

Even with the court ruling, the problem is that many of the insurance companies continue to have exclusions for everything unrelated to a vaginoplasty. For folks who are transgender females, we still get no protections to ensure we can get electrolysis (other than for genital preparation prior to vaginoplasty), voice/speech therapy or surgery, facial feminization procedures, or body contouring. There are many components that go along with managing our dysphoria. When the government mandates all of these measures, then I will say it was a victory.   I am still worried that all of the progress will be eradicated if the election goes poorly in November.

I have gotten compliments almost always from women. It feels nice.

I feel like some things are supposed to happen, but not everything is like that. You have those events that are (at least similar to) fate, but what you do from there determines a lot as well
