Anyway, Diane, I think you reached a wonderful conclusion with your self. Peace be your journey!

Not a conclusion - a milestone in my journey that continues on for as long as I am here.

Don't let yourself be taken out with the trash.  Be you and proud of yourself whatever that means to you.

I was referring to the conclusion you've drawn per the original post.  Indeed, every thing we achieve in life is simply another step we take until that day we can no longer take them. :)

To your second comment, I no longer even know who I am. And being proud of myself? Laughable. I have been proud of things I've accomplished in my life. But of self? No way.

Anyway, my apologies. When I replied to your topic, I was unaware that it was in this particular forum. (I simply saw it a t the bottom under 'recent posts') I don't venture into this forum because I do not belong in here. Forgive my intrusion.

Peace.

You are as welcome here as anyone Jennifer. You did not intrude by any means and sometimes Posties do need feet brought back on the ground.

Interestingly I just had a similar conversation with my dad today. He didn't understand why I needed to be a transgender woman as opposed to just a woman. I explained that for me, it is important to increase the visibility of transgender people. Growing up, the only transgender people I saw were on trashy talk shows or porn. I had no idea that a "normal" life was possible for me. For me it's important to be that example. It's important that people can see me and understand that in 99% of my life I'm just like them. I realize that this is not right for everyone, and I don't judge anyone for choosing a different path.

I hear you and I am very visible as a trans woman in the community for the reasons you articulated.  I chose formerly trans so as not to lose that connection and visibility.  My main point was that all of the dysphoria and conflict and guilt that came with being trans are now gone. I feel at peace.
