Mustache Cover

Hi,

Anyone have tips on covering up "shadow?" For some reason, it always looks like I have a mustache, especially in artificial light. Even right after shaving or electrolysis, with foundation on. It's not even hairs poking out, it's more like a texture -- tiny bumps, or large pores, or something.  Currently using Kat Von D  full coverage liquid foundation -- concealer or extra foundation makes it look really thick and a different color from the rest of my face....

Use a beard concealer (dermablend is one brand there are others) or red or orange lipstick for actual beard shadow. For texture, get a foundation primer. It fills in the pores and smooths out the bumps and smooths out the skin.

Thanks.  I use primer already. Dermablend was bad, nowhere near as good as the Kat von D I'm using.  Maybe I"m doing it wrong.

Maybe not.  Sometimes we need to find the correct "tool" for the job.  I've heard the orange or red lipstick trick works well.  Google hiding beard shadow, and you'll see several video's on this.   As you are on HRT for a while your complexion will lighten up and that works against you until your electrologist gets your dark hairs seriously thinned out.  The texture of our skin and large pores due to hair growing out of them is something we have to live with as far as I've seen.  I have large pores and haven't seen much change over the year I've been on HRT.  Eventually the pores could get smaller but a big part of it is genetics.

I used to use CoverGirl's liquid concealer on mine. I'm normally a medium skin tone but for the concealer to work for me, I used the fair shade.

Hmm.  I feel like I've tried everything -- mostly it's the texture, and more makeup just makes the texture stand out more.  Less makeup, and the blue/black shows through.  It's weird, cause it feels totally smooth before I put on the makeup.

I am hoping that problem will go away after finishing laser and which is still a ways to go.

It's better but still there.

In some ways though it looks better without makeup right now and I was telling my hair removal techs that I used to have to shave twice a day.

I used makeup for the first time in a couple of months and there's improvement especially as only one cheek has been denuded at the electrolysist so far. You could see the difference.
