Morning all. Well up and going with about 3 hours sleep. The wife started in just as I was falling asleep. Then for almost 2 1/2 hours she went on. I cried most of it. She is ready to move out and totally forget me,if I say so. I am not ready for that right now.

I was so close to coming on here and saying my journey was over. I am so confused right now. I am almost in tears again.

Everyone try and have a good day. I am going to do my best.

@Kymmie - hang on Kymmie, it's so hard, I know this is only words across the Internet, but we feel your pain. I hope a new day brings more rational thought, realizing a day can make a big difference ! Sending you positive vibes, and virtual hug.

@Susan R - your racket ball with the ladies at the gym sounds wonderful, expanding social interactions, way to go !

Today we have our youngest daughter and her boyfriend coming over for a visit. We are making 16 bean soup, ham, and corn bread.

Have a nice Sunday all

Thank you, ladies!  I have some stories that rival @Jackie C.'s in graphic details, but utterly lacking in her wit.  I will leave the curious in the capable hands of Google.

I woke up this morning so hungry, it's the first time I actually grabbed food before coffee!

Oi! I'm not that graphic. I'm just really good at euphemisms and painting a picture without crossing the line into vivid graphic detail.

I'll give you witty though. I'm not pretty. I'm not curvy. I can be witty though. Though I have a friend who insists that I'm pretty. I think she's just being nice.

Very little happening this morning. It's cold. I'm wearing pants (Yay! Real pants!!!) and having my morning beverage. There's a load of laundry in the dryer. I'm sitting in my desk chair using only my waffle pillow. It's uncomfortable, but not very.

Plans for today include nursing Susan through her migraine. I may even get some work done while she naps.

Mobility is about 70% today. I'm not graceful yet, but hopes remain high. If I get the go-ahead from my doctor, I'm going to try and get back to the gym this week. I'll need to take it easy around my surgical area, but I can probably still work my back and arms. Mostly I need to get out of the house and see friends. Introvert or not, I've been cooped up more than enough.

Hugs!

Well outside enjoying the slightly warmer day with my boys. Had a bit of a bummer moment last night, been trying to grow my hair out and realized just how bad the male pattern baldness was. So I had to cut it, guess I will just have to use wigs. Got my new appointment scheduled with the therapist tomorrow, pretty excited to finally get that going.

Have a safe and wonderful day everyone.

Qup-A-Quafee in hand. Good Morning. Just got home from work. A little hectic last night. Lots of sick patients on the second floor. So far my unit has been spared. I got some new patients admitted over the weekend. I love a full census.

One of my new people, a lady, came up to me in her wheelchair last night while I was sitting at the nurse's station doing my documentation.question

"I want to ask you a question but I'm afraid you'll get mad at me?" She said.

" Of course you can." I answered "I'm not going to get mad."

"You are such a pretty woman....but your voice..it sounds like a guy. Why is that?"

"I'm transgender." I explained.

We went on to talk about our children and grand children. We both had 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Her oldest grandchild is 5. She was a bit shocked when I told her my oldest grandson just joined the navy.

All in all a nice icebreaker.

I heard about the coronavirus cases at the nursing home in Washington state.

I expected it. It's going to spread rather quickly across the country.

I'm not worried for myself. I worry about my patients. Many have immune systems that are already compromised.
I already have an overnight bag backed just in case I need to stay on the job for an extended period.

All I can do with my fellow employees is stress the importance of basic infection control policy. (Was your hands with soap and water frequently.)

And hope for the best.

Be safe. Be Smart.

Donnie honestly I am wondering about this in myself.  Of course as you know your voice sounds way different to you then to others based on hearing it internally as well as externally.  I do not find my voice sounds very masculine when I speak or sing but I listen to it on a recording and I do sound masculine.

I am wondering if I even care about this anymore.  I am in voice therapy and want to see where it can take me but in the end I am not holding any expectations to sounding solely feminine and if I do great if not oh well.

My voice sounds like the "" snuffleupagus" from sesame street. Oh well!

If people could see through a microscope to see what is all over their hands even minutes after washing they would wear glove constantly.  Working in hospitals as well I have access to a lot of medical equipment and also their Labs.

I have seen it with my own eyes and it amazes me what Life if crawling around on your hands and body.

I try not to think of it as it is what nightmare's are mad of.  LOL

I would also like to stress wash your hands and use hand sanitizer as often as your skin can take it.

Please!

Mine is nasally and falls in gender neutral range but if the proper pitch and resonance could be achieved it might even sound cute.  But I am 52 and cute is not what I am going for.  LOL

Working in health care yourself it won't surprise you when I say that " I see fellow employees not washing their hands on a regular basis."

It's no wonder that such common infections like staph run rampant in most hospital settings. An infection control policy doesn't work if we don't adhere to it,

I'm 58. I feel your vocal pain. But I'd rather go with what I have in the vocal department.

I like Snuffy. He's cute.

Good morning! Relaxing with my coffee, (caffeine is vital to the wake up process) got to do some cleaning and then off to my first therapy appt this afternoon. Now I just need to figure out what to wear!

Good (almost afternoon) morning. Coffee finished, still in my flannel pajamas. About to begin my regimen with drawing again. So I'm going to more or less "submerge" again for a while before popping up for air.

I wish you all a healthy, happy, sunny day.

If I happen to see the "boob fairy" I'll be sure to remind her that we have a bunch of folks with a wish list ready!

Coffee is on. Eggs and toast are cooking. Good morning. Not a bad night. Had a little difficulty getting one patients oxygen level up. Every time she was wearing her CPAP, which is connected to her oxygen machine, her O2 stats went down into the lower 70's, I connected her directly to the O2 and her stats when back up into the 90s. Thank goodness. She said she felt like was going to die. I monitored her O2 every half hour. Finally she felt a lot better. Score one for being persistent. She's been doing this all weekend. Must be a problem with the CPAP machine.

Everybody have a good day today.

Be safe. Be smart.

@Donnie_1961 Good for you for being persistent with your patient.

There's a place in town here that sells medical supplies, including CPAP machines.  Every time I see the sign out front, I read it as "crap machines", and I wonder why anyone would advertise that their machines were crap. ?

I got a nice message this morning to perk up my day.  A director from the theatre asked me to do lights and sound for her next play, in June.  She said, " It's got a lot of light cues so we need someone good."  Call me shallow, but I like a compliment as much as the next girl! ?

I told her I can't do a full rehearsal schedule (surgery recovery), but I can join the crew in May and catch up in time for the opening.  Theatre work is fun, and the people are great.

Regards,

Kathy

Hi everyone

coffee was long ago but good today.  Worked on my bathroom floor.  Getting close to being done. I had to fill a section of the floor with mortar to level it.

when the motor is fully dry I have nice tile for the floor. And last step will be wall tile.  When that’s done, I’m done remodeling.

@KymmieL My wife has similar concerns. She was very angry with me when I first told her.  I didn’t figure we’d make it either.  But now, two years later, she still isn’t happy  but she is being tolerant and somewhat supportive.  I’ve given her the right to ask me not to do things that upset her but she has given me the right to spend more time as Willow, suggested I go to a group meeting this week and said we could got shopping next week.

point is, be patient, don’t push things let her get used to the situation.  Someone else here gave me that advice and I’m passing it on to you.  It can work.

Hi,

Ah, don’t be grumpy.  Think of all the wonderful things that you have.  All the friends here, leading the life we need.  Yes, it can be difficult but when it’s good, it’s very good. And when it’s bad, turn it around and make it good again.

I finished another step in my remodeling today.  Tomorrow I’ll tackle the floor tile.  When that’s done the end will be in sight.

It's something I'm just learning but I find I actually enjoy the 'craft' of it in addition to how it makes me look. Even after a fresh shave, I have a mild 5'clock shadow. For me, the primary use of makeup is to get rid of that. I'll start with the orange concealer over facial hair areas and a bit under my eyes. Liquid foundation over that and light concealer used judiciously over that (still dialing that part in). Then just a tad of powder to bring color back in certain places. There are a number of Youtube tutorials on that layering process.    I'll also pencil in my eyebrows a bit since they're blonde and otherwise not very visible. Sometimes I'll get adventurous and give mascara a try but that's a delicate skill and usually I mess it up. I don't particularly like lipstick, but just ordered a 'lip pencil' to experiment with. Hoping for a more subtle effect.

Sunday is my weekly ablution day - all of the parts that need occasional shaving get their required attention. The weather is rainy and cool today so after the ablutions and shower, I put on blue jeans, a gray t-shirt and a black front-zip hoodie along with gray sneakers.   And, I did put on make-up, not to impress anyone but just to feel as if I'm looking my best....as good as that can be given this woman is now 69 years old.

There are lots of us here willing to offer support, ideas, a shoulder or just a smile. Working with your therapist and finding your true self can be difficult process...but it will also be filled with wonder and joy as you discover that person who's been waiting inside you to be found.   Just know that you are not alone.

Thank you KayC!  I am just trying to keep breathing. I don't have a huge amount of time in my life for self exploration.  My job and responsibilities have me second guessing all my inner work.  I do have time off in the summer - coming up soon as I am a teacher.  Only a few workshops.  Looking forward ward to some introspection.     :) Mealaini

Yes, essentially. As Julia Serano says, they view trans outcomes as intrinsically worse than cis outcomes.

I used to but now its just lip gloss every now and then, in a subdued tone.

Yeah, a lot of times I don't really have anything to add to the conversation. There are some threads I seldom post on.
    • Ivy
I have seen some things about this.  As I remember it was not very trans-friendly. The people doing these things seem to minimize the positive aspects of transition, and maximize the potential problems. Basically, make it as difficult as possible (without outright banning it) to discourage anyone from doing it.

Good morning    woke up to some light rain this morning.  Maybe I should run out with a giant umbrella to cover the car.   Ha ha ha.     I’ve had really nice cars before but never something like this.     @KymmieL I hope you got to go on your ride. Back when I had my Harley we went out for a ride almost every weekend. We would head either SW down the Shenandoah Valley or Skyline Drive which danced along the tops of the Mountains or we would head west into West Virginia and just travel along until it was time to find our way home.   occasionally I wish I still had a bike but I usually quickly for get that. The only thing I ever wanted as a young person that I never had was a late 50s vette.

I admit to wearing make-up. Actually, I'll admit to enjoying wearing make-up. For me, it's been part of learning about myself as a woman and finding a style and look that reflects my personality.    Sometimes, it will just be a bit of mascara and a touch of lipstick. But, most often I wear foundation with setting powder, gel eyeliner, mascara, a little blush on my cheek line and lipstick. I also use an eyebrow pencil to darken my brows a bit.  Infrequently, I will add some eye shadow.   Most of my make-up is from Mary Kay although my lipsticks or from various manufacturers and eyeliners are mostly Maybelline. My wife purchases most of her make-up from Mary Kay and so we order together from our local representative. Of course, I don't have much brand experience but I'm happy with the Mary Kay products and find myself transitioning almost entirely to their line of make-up.
    • KathyLauren
I did early on, out of necessity.  Regardless of how close you shave, beard shadow shows through.  I just used a bit of foundation, setting powder and blush.    I didn't use much eye makeup.  I started out with a bit of eye liner, but I thought it gave me a "trying too hard" look.  So I mostly didn't use any.   With covid and masking, I stopped using makeup altogether.  Why bother when no one can see your face and the mask smears the makeup anyway?   When restrictions were lifted, I didn't go back to wearing makeup.  My face feminized quite nicely over the first few years of HRT.  I'll never be pretty, but I look more female than male.  (Or I like to tell myself that anyway.)  With several years of electrolysis, and with what facial hair remains turning white, I don't have much beard shadow, so there is nothing to cover up.
