Made it back from town, nice to be out again.

Daughter got puzzled at me. I made a comment to her that she is my trans daughter.

She says, no, dad, you're trans.

I replied to her, don't you own all those transformer movies?

She said, fair enough dad.

Are we still allowed to make "Dad jokes"?

Yes! I love Dad Jokes, because they remind me of the Rodeo Clown I use to see with the H-C Rough Stock Co. Shep Shepard was from of Springfield, IL he was a good Bullfighter and Great Entertainer.

Hi.

Well, this has been a rough night and it’s only supposed to get worse as the day continues.  I’m pretty sure I broke a dock line. I still have two holding the boat but the one that broke will have to be replaced as soon as I dare venture out.  We just went under a severe thunderstorm warning for the next hour.  The boat has been rocking and banging and the worst is yet to come.  I’ve recorded a wind speed of 22mph at ground level, so it has to be higher at the top of the mast. I have things on deck or in the cockpit that aren’t necessarily secured.  When it gets light I’ll have to consider going out to do something about that.

today could be a very rough day.

Visited with daughter and son-in-law for a bit yesterday, outside almost exclusively. Getting 'she/her'-ed so casually is just such a good weird feeling. Don't get that at home, so it takes me a second or seven to realize who that she/her is.

High winds and water are two of my biggest fears. Hats off to you and your bravery Ms. Willow.

Good luck Willow.  Scary!

I'm encountering some snags with my soon upcoming surgeries and effects of this with my employment. money, insurance, and employment. Mostly just people in a big system entering wrong info and me trying to resolve this.

Later I have a bottom hair clearing session 😊

So many things in the world are beyond our control.  Today I choose to live and hopefully resolve some things.

Well the sun is up and there was a lull in the wind so I went out to check things.  I didn’t loose the dock line but it did loosen enough that we were swinging a bit. My preventer also came loose and the tv antenna fell.  Other than that we seem to be shaken but not stirred.  Wind is now back.

Liz, I appreciate you comments.  The water here varies with the tide from less than 2 ft to barely 6.  I’d say you could stand up BUT that doesn’t count the couple feet of silt that you’d quickly sink into.

the wind is definitely more concerning.  You seem to be getting ice and snow from the same storm.

weather service now added a tornado watch to the thunderstorm watch/warning.

fun day.

My daughter and son-in-law are quick to she/her pronouns for me, and you're correct about the lag time it takes to get use to it. Smiles happen too.

@WillowIt's good to read that your overnight storm affects were only minimal. Lets go Condo Construction, we're all cheering for you.

@MaddeeI hope everything stays on track for you. You're looking so good.

The house/office is quiet, the cats and I are watching the birds, and I'm catching up on business e-mails. The coffee is HOT, black, and strong.

Hugs for everyone, (masked where required)

The whole pronoun thing is a mystery to me and why some trans people get so hung up over them.

I present female 24/7 so why even bother with the she/her thing its pretty obvious.

I would like to know why people think they need the pronouns ?

I have always been curious about that but when I ask on forums it seems the haters come out and I get called a lot of bad names for even asking.

Hopefully this is a more mature group and I can get an answer without being called some really horrible names.

Keep in mind I have worked with trans youth for the LGBT and have never gotten a solid answer to the question.

I hope I’m wrong but I think I just saw what looked like a coast guard helicopter heading in the general direction of the ocean. My app said up to 12 meter that’s 40 feet waves and winds growing in strength but 40 knots peak.  Maybe an ocean liner can deal with that but not the commercial fishing boats that run out of here.  I can’t imagine anyone would be operating a helicopter today for anything short of life and death.

@Teri Anne I’m no expert on the subject but not all ftm’s look male and vice versa.  I know an ftm that took me a long time to figure out.  Men don’t dress like women unless they are transgender or a crossdresser, but a lot of women wear clothes that can pass either way.  Then don’t forget the bigender some don’t really know what they are and regardless of how they are dressed go with neutral or they/them.  I guess I have decided that I am really bigender because I can just as easily go out dressed as Willow or Bill.  Of course my therapist said if you need a label pick one but you definitely have gender dysphoria.  I am three for three on that score.

I have a friend whom I did not know as anyone except female.  But I do occasionally slip and say he this or that.  She doesn’t get angry but you can tell she is biting back a comment.  She is just a year or two younger so 71.

personally if I look like Willow I prefer she/her but if you mess up I let it go, I am not all hung up.

I worked for Job Corps for 20 years. First 12 I was an instructor, the last 8 I was a dorm manager on the midnight shift.

I never want to work with youth again. Not that it was bad, just had had enough.

Good morning Teri,

I do think this is a fair group, with restraint, and understanding about true inquisitive questions. Like you I'm not a pronoun snob, but if is refreshing when someone gets it right without prompting. I'll always be Dad, Grandpa to my son and grandchildren. When I'm wearing a mask most of the people I encounter see me as a woman. Then they're apologetic when I speak. I remind them that either pronoun work, as long as I'm alive.

Hugs,

Thanks @Jani😊

@Teri Anne

I'm also confused about pronouns. Sometimes the word "pronoun" annoys me as much as getting called a guy.

In my heart,

It should only bother me when someone uses prounouns purposefully with intent.   Not when it's by mistake, or because I'm looking or acting kind of like a man at that moment

I don't need them, but it is nice to have someone use the correct one with me. It makes me feel more accepted. Even though I cary a purse, wear nail polish sometimes, wear female clothes, I've never been called she or her by anyone in the public yet. Only a few of my family members use correct pronouns with me. It is rather depressing.

I don't worry about what I'm called. I've been called so many names before.

22 years out now.

What I do worry about is what kind of cat mess I have going on in the basement.

4 house dogs upstairs, 2 cats downstairs.

All animals have pet doors, upstairs and down.

Cats make the biggest messes.

Passing in public, takes practice. I would safely say, mental practice.

once you get there mentally nothing said will bother you.

I would like to add that everything we post here effects someone here.

I myself am focused on being a better member here. You know, think

before I post.

Hope a good day to all.

Something else I noticed @Ladypcnj Since I use the Unread tab, I don't see threads I've read again until someone replies to it, or the author adds something.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Good morning @Ladypcnj   Some posts get lost in the busy times here. It also maters how people navigate the site. Some only look at their notifications, or tap the All Activity tab which shows them thread they've commented on. (how I see it)... I on the other hand use the Unread tag under Activity. I don't think people ignore post as much as they get caught up reading threads they've already been active in.   Best wishes, stay positive, and motivated,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Oh yeah, I forgot,    @awkward-yet-sweetwhen your husband finally breaks down and decides to replace the stoves I agree a single professional stove even out of a defunct restaurant might well be the way to go when cooking for all those kids and adults. Certainly better that the situation you describe.  Or maybe from a used restaurant supply where they have professionally cleaned and refurbished it.

Wow, yesterday was a very active day.     @Birdie I hope they figure out where that’s coming from and get you heeled quickly. That it’s nothing serious.  Maybe going to the day care with a purewick will finally convince them to change their attitude.   @MaeBe  especially if you believe you are about to loose your job anyway, what’s to keep you in Minnesota ?  This could be a wonderful thing for all of you Washington State can be wet but it’s really not as bad as it’s made out to be.  If you are west of the cascades it is relatively mild not like MN in the winter time.  And east of the cascades it’s rather desert like around Yakima.     New car shopping can be fun but it can be very stressful too.  We talked about it over lunch yesterday. Strange thing is she kept coming back to the old Ford.  My response was instead of two car payments there woul only be one although I would expect it to be a little higher, but not nearly what two would add up .  Plus I wouldn’t have to continue working as long with only one as when I get the other things paid off I know we can live without me working.  Unless of course, the congress decides to mess with social security.  Right now I have three vehicles I want to look at two are at one dealer and the third at another.  All three are GMs two are newer with lower mileage but are also lower end on the GM line.  The third which is the one that most interests me is a Cadillac.  Let’s see there is a song from way back about a Cadillac and a Hot Rod Lincoln comes to mind.  Anyway it is an XT-5. I get my room and comfort, she gets her nice appointments and the ford hopefully will hang on as a spare for those occasions when we need a second car for me to go to work and for her to do ??  The downside is it has just under 80,000 miles and is a 2020 so in that regard we are slipping backwards from a 2022 with 25000  but going from a sub-compact to a mid-size.  The other two are a compact and a Midsize but neither would provide the expected comfort and features of the Cadillac.  The biggest of which are the pedals that would adjust and the seat adjustments. (My wife is 4’ 10” and I am 5’8” since my spine has shrunk.  The Caddy also has the lane safety as well as front and rear collision warning.  The mileage will go down and the engine requires higher octane gas but that won’t be too much of a drag since we can go to Murphy USA where I work or to Costco which isn’t that far away. 10 miles.  And it’s better than the Ford!   I guess we will see how this plays out later.   Willow

Two things amaze me, One how fast short haired dogs dry. Two how did you keep from loosing your glasses? I'm glad you wear a life jacket while kayaking even on smooth waters such as ponds or lakes. I'm guessing you learned a few things about landing and exiting the kayak.    Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Aside from the X-Files, Gilmore Girls is easily my favorite TV show. I originally watched the original airing in the commuter lounge at my college starting in 2000 because I was embarrassed to watch it at home when I living as a man. Now that I am out and transitioned, I watch it openly and wear Gilmore Girls t-shirts at work on days that I wear a skirt. For Valentine’s Day, my wife bought me the DVD’s. Yesterday I had to stay at work late because of an IT problem (I am not IT so I just had to make sure the pump stations telemetry was functioning properly before I could leave, IT did the actual work) and so I watched it on Netflix. Lorelai Gilmore inspired me to change my name to Lorelei. Yes, I picked a more traditional spelling on the name. The mother daughter interaction between them is heartwarming and sometimes hilarious. Last week I just started rewatching it again. Ironically I relate most to Luke, very rare as I almost always relate to a female character. Anyone else here love the show?

Good morning everyone,   @Birdie continued prayers for you as they figure thing out. I'm glad you're being properly cared for.   @April Marie I love the pageantry of the Kentucky Derby the bright dresses, and fascinating hats worn by the ladies. As for the mint juleps... I'll pass, they're just to aromatic for me.  We'll be watching "The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports" as well.   @Adrianna Danielle & @awkward-yet-sweet it is amazing how a new stove seems to cook food better. Cooking for 36 people is a phenomenal task, and if you're doing it on anything less than a professional cook stove. You're preforming miracles, and I wish you the best.   My yard work is done for the day, because I don't have to wait until Saturday to do it. I'm getting use to this mostly retired situation. The windows and doors have been open since I first got up and the yard is full of bird songs. I have the best neighbors because they don't start their noisy yard work until very late morning or early afternoon.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
