Hello everybody!

Just spending lazy saturday afternoon in my navy blue tricot dress 😊

Ran about 3 miles and noticed i'm somewhat out of shape. Anyway I rewarded myself with a 🍺 and now waiting for sauna and another pint 😁.

Good morning coffee etal drinkers

we had a rough time getting to sleep last night, but slept soundly once we did.  I don’t suppose the batch of brownies I made after 9pm helped.  ☺️

we have some housework to do but mostly are looking forward to a day at the pool.

i noticed that that location of the wasp sting was still quite noticeable.  I tried squeezing it and managed to get some fluid out.  Unfortunately, I apparently broke a sac my body had built around the remaining venom.  I am getting minor symptoms of the venom invading places in my body.  My hand is quite itchy again and I’m having other symptoms.  I guess I should have opened it to the surface and not risked pushing it inside.  I should have known better since I’ve had a lot of first aide/first responders training.  I even used to teach it to others.  Sometimes we just don’t think to follow all of our training.

Its August in the south.  Another day of high humidity and temperatures in the high 80s, low 90s will make it feel like it’s over 100°.

Sweetie is patiently waitin* by the door to go out.  I guess I’d better get a move on.

enjoy your morning get me going beverage.

I quit cigarettes a long time ago, but I was on tour with my band in Arizona and I bought this lighter at a truck stop.  It was just how I felt at the time, doing my first tour since going full time.  Played country music in Prescott, Mesa, and Tucson, and got nothing but praise and compliments...a great boost to my confidence.

One of our local galleries and music venue was defaced by a group called Patriotfront that IIRC is named akin after a Nazi group called Stormfront, and pretty much use the same tactics. The gallery was decorated in tribute to BLM. The group uses stencils with various logos.

It really did not come as a surprise I guess, my State is a fair cross section of the country. Although I have yet to experience violence myself it makes me more aware...

Good morning everyone,

Been getting better about taking my medication ever since I purchased myself a cute little pill tray (comes with it's on bag!). Even my nausea has been better! I'm thinking my flare-up is coming to an end, after two grueling months. I don't trust my bile reflux medication, however. I took it for over a month and was still having stomach issues. So I doubt that's helping...as it's clear that my esophagitis is still running strong (swallowing medication is a bit of a gamble...) We'll see once I'm able to see the specialist in October.

In other news, I've been working on edits for my book. My roommate is dead-set on drawing a cover for it, so I'm taking this opportunity to make necessary changes. Once that's done, I'll start back on the sequel. Wish me luck!

Good morning

im taking a break from morning housework. Sitting on the porch, listening to the gentle rain. I think the water aerobics class finally gave up.  Oops, I’m wrong I just couldn’t see them. I suppose if you are wet what difference does some rain make.  Oh there they go.  It just needed to come down harder.

Walked the dog, cleaned the shower, sorted laundry.  Things are getting a little bit better every day.

we did some shopping yesterday.  Mostly just needed a day out of the house.  That sounds odd considering all the time we were gone last week.  Anyway, my wife showed me a very pretty blouse, somewhat poncho style.  I made the comment we’d be fighting over it.  She said no I picked it out for you.  Anyway, we both tried it on and both liked it so we will be sharing it like I thought.  We went to another store where I bought some jammies.  Pink top with flamencos on the bottoms.  Actually my first obviously feminine ones and no complaints.  So, yes things are getting better, much better!

Well I think I need to start another chore.  Have a great day everyone

Hi, Everyone. finally on my last of 5 Wednesdays. So today I texted my wife and asked what was wrong. What did I do?

Basically in a nut shell. I should have shirked the responsibility of having a job and unpacked crap at home. Because she and our youngest called out last week. I should have done the same. Once I got home just jumped in and helped, I was just terrible to sit and relax instead.

Then I told my wife we are taking a side trip on the way home from visiting our oldest next month. That after 7 yrs I am getting my sheltie. She went off about we don't need another dog. Etc. Etc. When she said years ago, when I mentioned that I wanted another one. She said, that we can get our sheltie once we move out of the apt. That has been done. She then accuses me of not changing since 1988. That when we had to get rid of our collie. when we move on base we will get another one. I didn't want to start a huge argument that we didn't move on base till 1990. The collie the trailer park made us get ride of was not Bandit.(He was the collie I had when I was a teen.)It was shadow. And she wanted the dog as bad as I did.

Other that that my life has been miserable, work is the same. I get screwed with the closing shift. Today when I showed the boss the connection cords that I took out of a delivery truck. All I got was Oh, thanks. When it is against company policy to used personal devices in company vehicles. I have put in for another position for dealer parts here in town. There was another one that has an opening. that is less than 1/2 mile from my house. But I found out the parts Dept and service manager I worked for him for a month and he is an a$$hat.

I hope that everyone has been having a better time than I have. So I wait for the hordes of locust, or The super volcano i Yellowstone to erupt. That would just clinch it.

Hugs,

To be fair, if Yellowstone erupts, we're ALL going to have a read bad day.

All I'm going to say otherwise is that your life isn't going to get better until you make it better. No magic fairy is going to come along and make everything right. The thing that worked the best for me is when my therapist asked me, "What kind of woman is Jackie?" I've been moving towards that ever since. The second best advice I got is, "If life hands you an opportunity? Take it!" Be on the lookout for ways to make your life better. When you find one, grab onto it and don't let go!

Good luck with the sheltie! I had one growing up and, while I vibe better with cats, she was a very good dog.

Hugs!

Hey everyone!

finallmade a good at-home ice coffee. I keep trying to not make my ice coffee too sweet, but it ends up being too sweet. Finally made it less-sweet!

What is it about waking up and making my own coffee that starts my day off better? ❤️

Excellent advice, @Jackie C..

The best I got was from my sponsor, who after hearing me complain endlessly, asked me: "Well, what do you want?" which I thought was the most ridiculous question I'd ever heard. He kept repeating it until I burst into tears. I'd never asked that of myself. Now, it's the first thing I ask. I believe my higher power gives me "wants" as her suggestions for my life and dreams. AND she's been right. It simplifies and directs every question I have every day. It's like a perfect cuppa tea with magic dust. Mmmm . . . .

Well to make life bearable for me. I will not be getting a sheltie yet. Things did get so nice today. At about 1:30 we lost power at the store. Completely, our company is so money hungry. We had to stay open. even when we couldn't look up anything and taking CC was a pure nightmare. I refused to.  We had to stay open till 8pm. I know if it would have been a month ago. it would have been light later so we would have stayed open till normal. Thankfully when the power dies so does the phones.

Emotions Diary #9

— I’m feeling like a liar and a phony in two groups of my friends this week. In a group with my oldest friends on Wednesday we had a lively discussion and a good time for almost two hours. And on Tuesday I again had a great time but with all my trans friends for two hours. Back-to-back. Two separate days each I enjoyed myself. In each and with both groups I felt happy and liberated to be accepted and trusted to speak freely and to listen and accept and trust others—in those moments, within each. Sounds fine, right?

But immediately after each event, I felt depressed and angry with myself for putting on a phony mask face and pretending to be someone I wasn’t. It felt like instead of feeling good about both events, I felt awful about them. I felt like a liar and phony to both somehow. And I felt I’d lied about who I was with both groups and to myself. Ouch, that hurts. It feels  like I don’t know who I am and that I’m hurting others by my inability to be honest and caring. Once again: Ouch. Is this just a normal day in Non-Binary Transville or something else?

And then today my friend emails me from Columbia:
A photo of her newborn baby. Lucas, the beautiful.
Just for the moment, I’m reborn, my own baby is me.

Good morning everyone

I haven’t posted anything for a few days because I haven’t really had anything to say.  But I have been on here and read every ones posts.

we’ve been drinking green mountain dark lately. Lots of doctors appointments.  Finally got new Epipens. I have one in my purse so I won’t be without again.  My hand where I got stung is still swollen and still itches sometimes.  I never had this reaction before but I’ve been told it will get worse each time I get stung.

it is supposed to be cooler and less humid starting today abundant throughout the weekend.  It also supposed to rain or storm some but so far that hasn’t happened.  Weave been fortunate that no hurricanes have formed.  The weather over the ocean coming off Africa has been blocking them.  I know this is very unscientific but that actually concerns me that when they do start rolling there will be one right after another and bad ones.

Hugs

Got a new Granddaughter this morning.  Mother and child (and father) are doing fine. This makes 7 granddaughters and one grandson.  I have 2 sons and 6 daughters myself.  And then I  switched teams.  I think this stuff runs in the family. Another hard day for the patriarchy.

Like @MaeBe pointed out, Trump won't do these things personally.  I doubt that he actually gives a rat's a$$ himself.  But he is the foot in the door for the others.   I don't really see this.  Personally, I am all in favor of "traditional" families.  I raised my own kids this way and it can work fine.  But I think we need to allow for other variations as well.   One thing working against this now is how hard it is for a single breadwinner to support a family.  Many people (I know some) would prefer "traditional" if they could actually afford it.  Like I mentioned, we raised our family with this model, but we were always right at the poverty level.   I was a "conservative evangelical" for most of my life, actually.  So I do understand this.  Admittedly, I no longer consider myself one. I have family members still in this camp.  Some tolerate me, one actually rejects me.  I assure you the rejection is on her side, not mine.  But, I understand she believes what she is doing is right - 'sa pity though. I mean no insult toward anyone on this forum.  You're free to disagree with me.  Many people do.   This is a pretty complex one.  Socialism takes many forms, many of which we accept without even realizing it.  "Classism" does exist, for what it's worth.  Always has, probably always will.  But I don't feel like that is a subject for this forum.   As for the election, it's shaping up to be another one of those "hold your nose" deals.
    • Ivy
Just some exerts regarding subjects of interest to me.

Yeah.  In my early teens I trained myself out of a few things that I now wish I hadn't.

I was thinking in particular of BLM, who years ago had a 'What We Believe' section that sounded like they were at war with the nuclear family.   I tried to find it. Nope.  Of interest https://www.politifact.com/article/2020/aug/28/ask-politifact-does-black-lives-matter-aim-destroy/   My time is limited and I will try to answer as I can.
    • Ivy
Well, I suppose it is possible that they don't actually plan on doing what they say.  I'm not too sure I want to take that chance.  But I kinda expect to find out.  Yet, perhaps you're right and it's all just talk.  And anyway, my state GOP is giving me enough to worry about anyway. I remember a time when being "woke" just meant you were paying attention.  Now it means you are the antichrist. I just don't want the government "protecting" me from my personal "delusions."
    • MaeBe
      1.  I think there are some legitimate concern.   2. Thoroughly discussing this will consume many threads.   3. I disagree partially with @MaeBe but there is partial agreement.   4. The context includes what is happening in society that the authors are observing.  It is not an isolated document.   The observation is through a certain lens, because people do things differently doesn't mean they're doing it wrong. Honestly, a lot of the conservative rhetoric is morphing desires of people to be treated with respect and social equity to be tantamount to the absolution of the family, heterosexuality, etc. Also, being quiet and trying to blend in doesn't change anything. Show me a social change that benefits a minority or marginalized group that didn't need to be loud.   5. Trump, if elected, is as likely to spend his energies going after political opponents as he is to implementing something like this.   Trump will appoint people to do this, like Roger Severino (who was appointed before, who has a record of anti-LGBTQ+ actions), he need not do anything beyond this. His people are ready to push this agenda forward. While the conservative right rails about bureaucracy, they intend to weaponize it. There is no question. They don't want to simplify government, they simply want to fire everyone and bring in conservative "warriors" (their rhetoric). Does America survive 4 year cycles of purge/cronyism?   6. I reject critical theory, which is based on Marxism.  Marxism has never worked and never will.  Critical theory has problems which would need time to go into, which I do not have.   OK, but this seems like every other time CRT comes up with conservatives...completely out of the blue. I think it's reference is mostly just to spark outrage from the base. Definitely food thought for a different thread, though.   7. There are groups who have declared war on the nuclear family as problematically patriarchal, and a lot of other terms. They are easy to find on the internet.  This document is reacting to that (see #4 above).   What is the war on the nuclear family? I searched online and couldn't find much other than reasons why people aren't getting married as much or having kids (that wasn't a propaganda from Heritage or opinions pieces from the right that paint with really broad strokes). Easy things to see: the upward mobility and agency of women, the massive cost of rearing children, general negative attitudes about the future, male insecurity, etc. None of this equates to a war on the nuclear family, but I guess if you look at it as "men should be breadwinners and women must get married for financial support and extend the male family line (and to promote "National Greatness") I could see the decline of marriage as a sign of the collapse of a titled system and, if I was a beneficiary of that system or believe that to NOT be tilted, be aggrieved.   8.  Much of this would have to be legislated, and this is a policy documented.  Implementation would  be most likely different, but that does not mean criticism is unwarranted.   "It might be different if you just give it a chance", unlike all the other legislation that's out there targeting LGBTQ+ from the right, these are going to be different? First it will be trans rights, then it will be gay marriage, and then what? Women's suffrage?   I get it, we may have different compasses, but it's not hard to see that there's no place for queer people in the conservative worldview. There seems to be a consistent insistence that "America was and is no longer Great", as if the 1950s were the pinnacle of society, completely ignoring how great America still is and can continue to be--without having to regress society to the low standards of its patriarchal yesteryears.

Cadillac parts are pretty expensive, so repairing them costs more.  But they don't seem to break down more than other makes.  Lots of Lincoln models use Ford cars as a base, so you can get parts that aren't much more expensive.    My family has had good luck with "Panther platform" cars.  Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Marquis, Lincoln Towncar or Continental.  4.6 V8 and 5.0 V8.  Reasonable fuel economy, and fairly durable.  Our county sheriff's office was running Chargers and SUV's for a while, but has gone back to older Crown Victorias for ease of maintenance.  GF rebuilds them here.  But they are getting more scarce, since the newest ones were made in 2011.    1992-1997 years were different than the later years.  1998-2001 they did some changes, and apparently the best years are 2003 to 2011.  Check Craigslist, and also government auctions.  GF has gotten a lot of them at auction, and they can be had in rough-but-running shape for around $1,000.  Ones in great shape can be found in the $5,000+ range.  Good for 200,000 miles without significant rebuilding.  Go through engine and transmission and electrical systems, and they go half a million.    Some Chrysler models are OK.  The 300 mostly has the same engines as the Charger and Challenger, so parts availability is pretty good.  But they tend to get timing issues.  The older Chrysler Sebring convertibles were pretty reliable, sometimes going 200,000 miles without tons of problems, although after that they were pretty much worn out.

I think I have read everything the Southern Baptists have to say on transgender, and it helped convince me they are dead wrong on these issues.  They can be nice people.  I would never join an SBC church.

You come across as a thoughtful, sweet, interesting and pleasant person.    There are parts of this country, and more so the world, where evangelicals experience a great deal of finger wagging.
