Today is Good Friday, so may it be meaningful for those who observe it.

In my faith tradition, we fast between dinner time on Thursday and breakfast on Easter morning. Lots of people have a 3-day weekend from work, too.

I certainly hope I did not offend anyone.  I am well aware that not everyone celebrates the same religious beliefs or holy days.  My ancestors changed from Catholic to Church of Scotland at some point and eventually became Presbyterian.  My father did not believe at all, although he would accompany his grandfather to the church the family went to when his grandfather went to fix something.  My mother found it funny when I became a deacon and I’m certain she is dumbfounded that I am an elder and trying to become a commissioned pastor.

The class I am taking now is about the Old Testament taken from the Jewish perspective but also touches on Islam and leads into Christianity.  The text book talks about all the different ancient religions in the Fertile Crescent and the wars fought between them and some thought as to why.  Generally, food and access to areas that were suitable for growing a variety of things.  Not unlike the discussion we’ve been having.

i lived in Thailand which was principally Buddhist, and I learned a bit about them as well.

I don't see how.

I know my own spiritual practices are pretty minority.  I don't have a problem with other folk's as long as they're not attacking me.

I don’t see any offense taken. My thing is don’t force beliefs on people. Talking about it is fine.

Good morning

first cup on board, not it’s time to warm it up. Our dog ate her breakfast and is now camped out on my bed.  I suppose today is a housework day.  I have to finish our laundry pick up the house, send the robot around vacuuming, (that’s a lot of work you know) take the dog for a walk, sooner rather than later in this list, get wife to go for a walk and somehow get som textbook reading done.  Phew, I’m ready to go back to work, it’s easier.

I’m only working 3 days next week because I have to take my wife to appointments   My pay has been rather paltry but I’m still ahead, at least until the hospital bill arrives.  I just might be on a street corner begging.  They often make more money tax free.

so, who among us gets to see this next eclipse?  We were just on the edge of the area of totality for the last one.  First, last and only total eclipse I’ll ever see. We are well outside the area of totality for this one but it will still be somewhat visable.  Remember to use appropriate eye protection and don’t point a camera at it unless you have a proper filter on your lens. It will destroy the camera, including your phone camera!  I bought a filter specifically for taking a photo of the eclipse for the last one. Now IF you are in the band of totality there are a few seconds you can look at it with out any special lenses or glasses but it’s only during totality and that doesn’t last long.  The best part is the corona which is amazing and beautiful to see.

well, I guess my housework isn’t getting done sitting here.  Second cup done time to start working.

Today is Holy Saturday,  so it is mostly a day of quiet reflection and a few chores.  Husband does some of the kids went fishing this morning. And to my surprise, GF is still curled up sound asleep. She even went to bed early last night, so I'm not sure if she is feeling well.  But she's super cute when she's asleep 😍

We will go to a prayer gathering later today, as part of the preparation for the Easter celebration tomorrow...

Well, living room is vacuumed thanks to iRobot.  Last load of laundry is in the washer.  Dog walked, Wife walked. Changed into shorts as the sun is hot out of the on shore breezes.

our dog decided as much as she likes being outside she needed to be out of the sun and went back in.  But now that we are both outside she’s back but trying to find shade.

yes today is supposed to be a day of quiet reflection @awkward-yet-sweet however when you only have a few days to do things, I have no choice but to break the holy day.  At least I am reflecting and not working the entire day.

It's that time of year when the sun can get hot, but the trees aren't leafed out yet.

Just laying low today myself.  My daughter and granddaughter are planning to drop by tomorrow and deliver my Girl Scout cookies.   Yummy.

Very true. Lots of people have to work everyday all the way up to Easter Sunday. Some people are able to take a 3-day or even a four-day weekend. We do what we can. My husband's employer generally lets people have Good Friday off work so everybody gets a 3-day weekend. My husband let his team go home at noon on Thursday.

I just have chores to do here at home. But then, I don't have a job. 😏  I'm spending quite a bit of today in the kitchen, as there are things to prepare for the feast tomorrow. It feels really weird to be preparing food while fasting...

@Ivy can I have a . Trefoil please with my morning coffee.  I guess it’s the Scotch in me but I do love those. So close to the shortbread cookies.

I mean who doesn’t like cookies made by Girl Scout elves.  And there is always enough varieties that there is something for everyone.

@Willow I have absolutely no Scottish heritage, but I like a shortbread cookie.  I can get Walkers brand at a couple of stores locally, and I've even seen it at Walmart.  😀

Unfortunately, I think GF got the flu.  So my entire family has started taking extra Vitamin D pills tonight.  If you can get a big dose of Vitamin D in the first 24 hours, it may shorten your flu experience or prevent it entirely.  It also helps to be in generally good health....thankfully, I eat lots of fruits and vegetables.  I'm sure I'll get sick because I'm next to her for hours each night, but hopefully it won't last long.

Poor GF, though.  We were ready to go to our prayer meeting, and she looked really pale.  Got out of the truck and threw up in the grass.  She was really dizzy too.  I stayed home with her, and she's just laid in my lap for hours.  She's started having a fever, so I'm paying attention to that because she can get a high fever really fast.

Hope she feels better soon.   Being sick sux.

I hope she doesn't have what my wife and I do (did). We both had the stomach virus that's going around...and it's no fun. My wife is pretty much recovered and I'm about a day behind her. I slept for most of the past 30 hours, couldn't eat or drink anything but sips of water without getting nauseous, ran a low-grade fever and generally felt like I'd been hit by a truck.

I tried a little coffee this morning but it just didn't taste good.

In any case, Happy Easter, everyone!

Enjoy this beautiful day we've been given.

Had to use an EpiPen on my myself yesterday. I had vertigo, migraine and hurt my back. I laid down on the carpet and started getting hives and throat was closing up. I went to the ER and followed up with them. They gave me two more EpiPens. I experienced a burst of energy but after it went away I have just been tired.

HE IS RISEN

Good.morning

@awkward-yet-sweet I’m sorry to hear about your GF.  A stomach flu is no fun and can lead to other things so good you are with her.

@Ashley0616 I’m glad you are ok and had epi pens. I carry two in my purse in case of emergency and keep two at home. I am extremely allergic to wasp stings and have been to the er on account of them.  For me the bottoms of my feet become itchy to the point I want to scratch them off.  Allergies are no joke.

our afternoon high is supposed to reach 80 today.  It was very nice yesterday as well and will continue until the next rain on Wednesday.

like I’ve said before, when I’m home, I make a pot with fresh ground beans, but I work the next three days so it’s back to pods tomorrow.

Happy Transgender Day of Visibility!

I know that not all of us are able to be visible, and my heart goes out to those who can't.  We see you, even if others can't.  And those of us who are able to be visible will do so for everyone else.

Visibiliity is the best way to educate everyone else about who we really are, and to teach them that we are just regular people doing regular things.  (Which of course is why "they" don't want us to be visible.)

May we all some day have the freedom to be visible without fear.

@Adrianna Danielle Good to hear you are on the mend, Stents are no joke. Great you have family to help you out.

Thankfully, I am only allergic to penicillin. So, no moldy bread for me. and strangely enough Honey. it gives me an upset stomach.

Even with a painful right knee I was able to get some major work done on the Explorer. I got the rocker panel welded in. Now starts the refinishing. Once that is finished. it is time to protect it. and install a set of rock sliders. I have had the sliders since our first Explorer. Which was killed in 2010.

Speaking of my knee. I am planning on heading to the VA first thing tomorrow. Going to the veterans express. Kind of an urgent care. I know I can go to the urgent care here in town and won't cost a dime. However, they may refer me to another office which may cost me. I could take the referral to the VA but I'd have to start over. I am just cutting out a step. Taking off of work will cost me, but my health is more important.

Happy Easter, I hope the Easter beagle came to your house for a visit.

Gotta go the wifes ground 8 o'clock coffee is calling my name and I must answer.

Hugs, to all.

Yikes wasp stings that would really stink! So far I know I'm allergic to something that was in the carpet and pollen in the grass. I'm looking forward to getting allergy tested to see what else.

Yeah that is very nice! I wished I could cut my grass but I'm allergic to the pollen so I just pay someone 50 dollars a cut and get two a month.

I have to get new flag poles and a new flag which is why I can't participate in it. Maybe once things get settled I'll finally get another.

Rants are not a problem.  My favorite hobby! :)   What's out there is bad enough that I wonder why some people feel they need to embellish it.  Be alert.   Some of this will need to be fought in court if they try to implement it. If people are out to get me, paranoia is justified.  And this may not be the only document.   Abby
    • Ivy
Not in so many words, therefore it's not there at all.  Excuse my paranoia. And the states passing laws against us are nothing to worry about either. Having to change my gender back to male (like in Florida) is reasonable.  I should just accept it, I mean I was born with a dk.  So that "F" is lie, and a fraud.  My delusions need to be dealt with for my own good.   I'm just frustrated these days.  Just a bit of a rant.
    • Abigail Genevieve
You probably remember the Target PR fiasco.  I remember reading an account from a woman who shopped there.  She went into a stall and did her business, and someone came into the bathroom and began swinging stall doors open, and when she came to her stall, the woman peeked at her through the crack. "What are you doing?" "Checking for perverts." The writer was so stunned by the absurdity that she finished up ASAP and got out of there, while the other woman entered a stall and locked it, made sure it was locked, and locked it again.

Been a good day.Cleaned my closet of clothes that I do not wear anymore and do not fit me.It looks better now.Came down to my newest property beside mine, owner passed and I inherited it.There was a double wide there that was removed,it was in bad shape. It is the shop part I am keeping which I got the tools, shop equipment, benches, hoists and shelving too.

      Nothing about eradicating TG folk.
    • Ivy
If 9 out of 10 parts are ok, that doesn't mean I need to accept the bad parts (that are aimed directly at me).  That seems suicidal.
    • Ivy
True, most of it has nothing to do directly with us.  It's the parts that do that are the problem.   I see the  few problematic statements as being a big problem.  Just because a lot of it may be okay, doesn't change that. Even supposing the rest of it might be good for the country, it doesn't help me if I'm being "eradicated".  I suppose I should be good with that, because it's for the "greater good".  If me being gone would please a number of people, then it's my civic duty to disappear, and vote to implement that.
    • Ivy
Yeah.  There are already laws against assault.  I don't think the overwhelming majority of trans women have any desire to harass cis women.  Speaking for myself, if I go into a women's washroom, it's because my eyeballs are already floating - not for kicks.  And I worry about getting clocked and assaulted by some guy being a "hero."
    • Abigail Genevieve
Only three, maybe four, sections even mention transgender.  Most is a conservative agenda I have no problem with.   In the sections that mention transgender, there are very few lines.  Those lines ARE problematic, in every case. Unequivocally.  I can't see some of them standing up in court.  In one case a recommended policy goes against a court decision, which strongly suggests the implementation of that policy would be stopped in court.    Anyone maintaining that this is written simply to support Trump, to support him becoming a dictator, to crush transgender people is feeding you a line.  Nor is it an attempt to erase transgender people.   People will have to decide if the overall goals are worth the few problematic statements.  Overall, I support it.  Of course, I have some reservations.
    • Abigail Genevieve
It is unfamiliar, therefore threatening.   For 90% or so of the population, gender id can be simply and quickly determined by a quick anatomical observation.  They have no understanding and cannot imagine what it would mean to have a body different from the id.  It is unimaginable.  Therefore, wrong.   So there is this strong headwind.   I haven't entered this discussion, but here is a script: A: I can't imagine what it must be to have TG. B: You're a man, right? A: Well, of course. "amused" B: Imagine you were required by law and custom to wear women's clothing all the time. A: It wouldn't happen. B: Okay, but for the sake of the argument... A: That would be disgusting.  I would be very uncomfortable. B: You have it.  That is what TG people go through all the time. 24-7-365. A: Really? B: And then they are told they are perverts for having those feelings.  The same you just described. A: I see. B: And someone comes along and tells you you need conversion therapy so you will be comfortable wearing women's clothing all the time. A: I think I would break his nose. B: You understand transgender folk better than you think.

I have found some people correlate TG = child predator ... just as some have correlated homosexual = child predator...    I am baffled by the TG = unsafe connection ... my wife tends to think this way, that this is all about sexual deviancy ... I try to ask how my preference for wearing frilly socks with embroidered flowers and a comfortable camisole under my lavender T-shirts is sexually deviant (or sexual anything) but I don't get very far...
    • EasyE
Best wishes to you as you take this step ... many blessings to you!

Not sure.  The perp is a minor.  The problem here is NOT transgender, the problem here is incompetent and criminal administration.  See https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/family-of-loudoun-co-student-sexually-assaulted-ineptitude-of-all-involved-is-staggering/3231725/ It is more than annoying that people think the problem here is TG and that other people think the solution is some stupid statewide law.  Like an appendectomy to deal with an ingrown toe nail.    Since Loudon, I recall a boy was asked not to use the girl's restroom at a high school by one of the girls.  He, overwhelming her with height and weight,  assaulted her, claiming he had a right to be there.   Later I think eight girls beat him severely in another girl's restroom.  Again the problem is not transgender, the problem is assaults in restrooms and common courtesy.  TG is used as a smokescreen and it seems to paralyze thought among administrators who do not want to do anything to provoke controversy.

Time to get with your Primary Care doctor and be referred to a neurologist or an orthopedist.  It could be many things, too many for any of us here to guess at.

Other than the Boy Scout motto, oath, and law. I use two:   When asked how I'm doing? In all honesty I reply. I would have to make something up to complain. If asked to explain further: I reply. I know someone is having a tougher time than I am, and I pray God blesses them.   I also recite this quote that I have tagged in my signature: Courage, doesn't always roar. Sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow."-Unknown    Saying these things daily keep me motivated.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋
