Good morning all

after several days of overcast skies this morning the sun is shining bright and like most coastal days the wind is blowing in from the sea ay a brisk 18-20 mph. Today is exceptionally a good day. My sister called this morning and although she won't use my new name, always uses dead name, changes the subject if I mention anything related to transitioning. but this morning in a very roundabout way acknowledged the correct gender. She was recommending an indoor electric grill that was perfect for a bachelorette. Small steps.

Thanks Willow! We’ve been moving Shawna’s things in all day. My daughter and her BF are coming for dinner so it will be a fun, if not interesting evening. Tomorrow it’s back to work for me and Shawna will unpack. We’ll rest up as we can! Have a great day!

Happy day!  So good to hear you made it home safe and sane.  You sound happy.  I would be out of adrenaline after that drive, lol.  I hope your dinner is fantastic!

My brother and his wife came down for a spontaneous visit today. I hadn't seen either of then since last November which was also a "coming up to come out" visit. They are very supportive.  My brother said he suspected something like me being trans for the last 20+ years but wasn't sure how to say it. His wife is very analytical about things and also very accepting.  It threw me off a little hearing both of them using my preferred name and pronouns, but it was good.

While his wife and I were in the office store there was a group of guys walking around. I think they worked there and kept staring at us. Eventually they asked, "do you ladies need any help?" I was so relieved  to hear that. She promptly told them we were OK  and they left. I'm taking the one as a win for passing.

It seems like with some of the people I hang out with Just don't care and will gender me however I ask without question.

I owe a big thanks to my brother and sister -in-law for just letting me be me.

Hi Elizabeth

It is good that they support you it means a lot coming from family. As for passing I think people see what they expect to see if present as female they often take you as female without thinking.

It is a good feeling.

Thanks, Susan and @Tori M! @ShawnaLeigh and I were talking last night before bed and we both agreed that the trip, despite the tire failure in NV, was a very fun trip overall. Where we used to sent about 10,000 texts a day, we spent the entire trip talking! LOL! Didn't have to do so much as one correction on speech to text on our phones!

I have learned so much about coming out in the past 10 days. SL thought it might be beneficial for others for me to post about it. Of course, I was scared to death at the beginning. On day one we went to a WalMart, Kohl's and Old Navy. After getting over my initial fear, I noticed that not only did we not get any looks or snide remarks, the only reaction we got of note was a few women smiling (sweetly) at us. Even going to use the restroom, was no biggie! Not only did we not get any looks or comments from anyone, nobody cared!  Angela, SL's ex, was with us and was so supportive. She said that if anyone said anything to us to tell her and she'd deal with it, as I'm sure SL would have as well. (And I would not want to be the one on the receiving end of SL and Angela's wrath!)

When we came home, my daughter and her BF came over for dinner last night, and he was totally fine with my trans situation. My daughter remarked that she'd never seen me so happy. Both just loved SL! And both had various stories about other friends and distant family members who had transitioned or were transitioning. Nobody thinks anything about it. I just learned that my oldest son and daughter are coming in for the weekend after the 4th of July. My younger daughter, the 20 yo, said that she'd make it a point to be in town and we'd have a sort of family talk for me to come out to them, and she thinks that they'll both be fine with it.

So, all in all, things are going much smoother than I ever would have dreamed! The big task at present is to formulate a plan to come out professionally! That will call for some strategic planning, which I'm going to involve my gender therapist and SL in. Since I'm confident that SL will be there for me for support, it seems like it's doable.

Jeez! Just one year ago who'd a thought....?

Congratulations to both of you @Patti Anne and @ShawnaLeigh!

It sounds like you had a lovely trip and got to talk to each other unfiltered for a change! I'm so happy for both of you! May your relationship be long and happy!

And @Patti Anne? May your coming out be as uneventful as mine was.

Hugs!

Thanks so much Jackie! So far coming out has thrown me no setbacks, and for the first time in 50 years, I feel like I'm not living a lie.

Have a great day!

Congrats Pattie that is so awesome! I could only imagine how much weight is off your shoulders. I hope your professional coming out goes just as well.
This is off the subject but we had dinner with my sister who is supportive of me or so she says. We had got in the subject of looking in the mirror. I had said sometimes I like looking at myself in the mirror. Most of the time the mirror is unfriendly. When I said I like looking at myself in the mirror she called me a Narsasist. I don’t think I spelled it right but it kind of made me angry afterwards.

Hi Emily

The mirror can be your best friend when you are changing your appearance. It is perfectly normal to like a new appearance.

Just enjoy! ?

Wow, this is great news. Its nice to see this all unfolding nicely for you. I wish you the best on the continuation of your coming out to family.

Well, I have a busy day today. I’m starting out with a nice cup of my current favorite Buttered Toffee Cup of Joe. At 10am a Telehealth session with my therapist. Then at 1am today, I have the pleasure of going to my appointment to get a nasal swab done for a covid test—a requirement of my GRS surgery consult in 3 days. I’ve heard there extremely uncomfortable and sometimes painful. I’m certainly not looking forward to it. I’m hoping for a good report so I can have my consult.

Hope you all have a good day,

Susan R?

Good morning all,

Still missing having someone in my life, but patience, right? Nice to have a BFF to complain my problems to and to listen to her romance problems. But as the heroine from a politically inappropriate 1939 film said...."After all, tomorrow is another day." Well the sun is out today for a change, a cup of coffee in hand, Social Distortion at volume courtesy of Alexa and a busy day ahead. Today my DD1 is needing extra love. Last night her dog chased a skunk in the backyard and got sprayed at 2 am and after trying to de-scent the dog it was 4 am before she got to bed. She is already stressed out from taking care of her mother who has severe ME. If nothing else, I can bring a caffeine loaded 16 oz Caramel Explosion from the local coffee kiosk.

Velsignelser,

Erikka

I saw this concert in which it is said that the famous phrase of Jon Landau "I saw the future of rock and roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen" comes from that night. By the way Bruce opened for Bonnie Raitt that night and she was the better performer . . . just sayin'.

Astronomy and astrophotography.  I have done a few public presentations on the subject and could most likely wing it for an hour without putting you to sleep.   On the other hand if you need a sleeping pill, I could also talk for an hour about flying and you'd be out cold.

Please consider joining us, even if it's just for a few minutes to see what the meetings are like. I've learned so much, had so much fun and gained confidence in myself just by being a part of this amazing group of people. It's a low key, no pressure, non-judgmental chance to just be among people who are supportive, understanding and affirming of each other.    I'm travelling out of state and still planning on dropping in for awhile.    Come see what it's like!!

Thank you, Susan!! It was such an amazing experience for me. I can't remember if I even talked about it on a Zoom meeting.   Here is the link to the post I made about it. And, again, thank you for helping to give me the courage to do it.

Good morning coffees   This probably doesn’t exactly apply to me because you wouldn’t have found a more shy and conservative person than me.  I was perhaps less shy before my sister started complaining about me doing things that were hers to do. And I would become embarrassed and that was the end of that.   upstairs unit got their typical weekend visitors in the middle of the night last night.  They woke me up.  They have little consideration for being in a condo community and the neighbors being in such close proximity.   @awkward-yet-sweet , how goes the job with your husband’s boss?  I don’t recall you saying much about it this week, but I could have missed a post along the way.  If I recall you were supposed to meet with him last Monday.   @KymmieL I hope you are feeling better.     Yes, I find it to be wrong that just because a car part says Ford or Chevrolet on the box that same part with Lincoln or Cadillac on the box cost a lot.more.  I know there are differences in the upscale brands such as the engine and drivetrain in the Caddy and of course the interior fit and finish.  But it’s the same body with things crammed in the same way under the hood.     well, time to finish my coffee, fix my hair and made my way across the street to work.    willow
