Spoilers in thread! Good Omens on Amazon TV?

Who's seen it since its release?  I'd love to know what you thought of it.

 

I've been nagging my mother to read the book every time it comes up for, oh, gotta be almost 20 years now.  She never did.  She saw the ads for it on Amazon and suggested we watch it together, so I had the pleasure of seeing her experience all the subtle humor for the first time.  It's so true to the book - I can only think of one element that didn't make it into the screen adaptation, aside from narrative bits - that she fully understands now why I kept pushing her to read it.

 

What I didn't know before the first episode was that Gaiman wrote and produced the adaptation.  I had been terrified it would be a letdown like so many screen versions are, but with him at the helm all my worry went away.

 

Favorite parts?  Things you thought could have been better?

I am a fan of Neil Gaiman but I never read the book for this before watching it.  Me and my partner loved it though!  For me my favorite part was the very end where they set it up for more.....until I found out there was only one book :(. 

 

The horseman didn't seem to fit though, and their role seemed to be a bit anti-climatic.

The horsemen was the one thing that had some significant cuts in the translation from book to screen.  It's much, much more entertaining in the book.

I live for Good Omens. The show is so impressive. I like it better than the book! David Tennant and Michael Sheen are perfect as Crowley and Aziraphale. The entire cast is phenomenal. I love that the series explores the relationship between Aziraphale and Crowley through a very romantic lens. Genderless angels! Gay pining! Non-binary characters! Nanny Ashtoreth! So much good LGBT material in this show. And none of it is making fun of people at all; it’s just part of the show. So good.

?I love "Good Omens" the show. The book is very different, but worth the read. I love the character dynamics and the endearing relationship between Crowley and Aziraphale.
