I've been letting people know that I don't like the use of my female name, and have been asking them to use my long-time nickname, which is neutral/masculine. All my co-workers, including my boss, now know and TRY to use my new name, but even better is I changed my name at my major social outlet (martial arts class)! I haven't worked up the nerve to do the pronoun change yet, as that will result in some difficulties I'm not ready to deal with, but its so nice hearing how everyone is so eager to use my nickname, and it feels even better not hearing my old name anymore! I use this nickname right now because my family is used to hearing it and they're ok with it, but they don't know I'm trans yet and I have to stay closeted with them a while longer.

My therapist is really impressed with the major steps I'm taking on my transition. Its so nice to feel like my real self for a change!

Congratulations!  Your progress seems to be creating greater confidence as you move ahead.  So -- yay!

This has been the most awkward thing for me, as I'm not out to everyone.  So I'm cool with "any pronoun" for now, and am happy working on other things like my HRT.

Cheers,

Astrid

Hey, that's completely OK. Come out at your own pace and don't feel pressured to do anything you're not comfortable with yet. This is your path and you get to pick how you are going to walk it.

That said, congratulations! I know how I feel about hearing my old name and I wouldn't wish that feeling on anybody. May many, many more people call you by the correct name in the future.

Though I get a surprising amount of pleasure from hearing someone ask for my old name on the phone. I get to say, "There's no such person." That fills me with glee every time.

Hugs!

I am told this too and finally I’m out to the majority of those that need to be told.  I don’t care who knows from here on out.

I am just now starting to ask people politely About using my new name and pronouns.  Though admit I even have a hard time hearing it sometimes when a doctor calls.  Lol

I haven’t had anyone say anything face to face yet and I continue to be misgendered on the phone.

You can get buttons with your pronouns on them. It's a little passive aggressive, but some people will appreciate the reminder.

Hugs!
