Sunday was National Coming Out Day,   I went and chged my profile on Facebook and posted to let all that didn't already know that there was a new girlie town.  I don't get on FB much but it is an easy way to let the world know.   Monday I met with my two managers, one in person the other by phone.  I thought I was going to have a panic attack but gathered myself up and told her.  Her response floored me.   She said she was proud of me for opening up and commented on the courage it must have taken to come out.  When I spoke to the other manager I couldn't visually judge her reaction but she too was very supportive.   On Tuesday I went in to ask her to change my name tag and ,to my surprise, she had already made me a new one.  She had changed my name on all the paperwork in the store and told me not to worry about HR.  I told her as soon as my request for a legal name change has gone through then I will contact HR.

All my regular customers were anywhere from accepting to encouraging.   I really am on a cloud 9 right now.

it seems the anticipation is worse than the act.

Love to all

Dawn

Congratulations :) I am glad all went well. It's often the case that things go better but, unfortunately, not with everyone.

I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop

I know the feeling all too well. I am in the middle of coming out to family and so far everybody has been supportive. I feel really fortunate about it so far, but I too am waiting for the shoe to drop for me as well. The feedback I have been given is try to focus on what has worked out so far and try to not focus on what could happen.

That is awesome though that your managers at work and your Facebook community have sounded like they support you on your journey. Congratulations on actually coming out!
