So ... I watched this movie at work last night...

It's an interesting lil movie... it has some aww moments and a lot of heart breaking moments... but not bad

Here is the description...

Roy, a small-town Illinois man, wildly declares after blacking out on his 25th wedding anniversary that he's convinced he's a woman trapped inside a man's body. It's up to Roy's shell-shocked wife, Irma, his kids and the entire community to come to terms with this stunning revelation.

Like I said... not a bad movie

Anyone else checked this out?

Absolutely, Hon!

My therapist suggested that my wife and I watch it and we bought it from Amazon. We've watched it several times now.....makes me cry.....

It covers a multitude of older married MTF problems..

25th wedding anniversary, coming out, to wife, pastor, work...

Heartbreak and overcoming it all with love...strikes so very close to home for me and my wife...

I highly recommend it....

I understand that many therapists suggest it for familys to watch...it addresses tons of things while being enteraining...

VERY GOOD!

My therapist suggested it for me and my wife, but she split before I could get a copy.

I may watch it anyway just to see how things go when actual love is involved.

Love ya,

Sally

It took me a while before I was able to watch it, for a few reasons:

- It's not available here

- DVD could be found but for USA systems only <sigh>

- Too confronting at the time (I already had read all the scary transitioning stories and couldn't face the dramatical film)

I did manage to get hold of a copy a month ago. We watched it a few weeks ago after having forgotten about it. It is confronting, but I knew what to expect. I did cry several times throughout the film and I must say, it's indeed a must see for us oldies. ;)

Oh snap! :D

I'm totally going to go watch that. I've been looking for a good movie for a while now and, if I can find it, I'm going to watch it.

It sounds really good

I've watched this movie before and it was okay. Granted I couldn't relate to it at all since the main character was twice my age but it touched on a lot of things that older TSes have to deal with. Oh and I forgot the line but there was a scene in the movie where the main character dresses for the first time and asks his wife at the time how he looks. I forget her comment but I thought it was hilarious.

" You look like my aunt... after her stroke" something along those lines

Thought this film was a bit average to be honest. It's a TV HBO movie, so I have to commend the producers for making such a mainstream movie out of a minority topic.

Actors are superb and do a great job, it's just that the script really is to bland. That said I laughed my derrierre off to the scene with the three of them in the kitchen making breakfast....... synchronization. Classic.

Yep, I've seen this one. I had a pretty good time watching it, but it was definitely pretty average. There wasn't anything that would make me go "wow, this movie is the best thing I've ever seen".

My therapist recommended it for me and my girl friend. When it was over, she never said a word and months later has yet to.

I enjoyed seeing Tom Wilkinson (Spelling?) playing such a part. In fact, I was shocked to see him pull it off as he is usually a bully or just plain mean.

The only part that bothered me was how easily his son accepted the whole thing once he came home and saw things up close. Now I'm not looking for SRS and still my son will not accept me and constantly bad mouths me to his friends (who then get back to me.)

Oh well.

And yeah, the writing could have been a heck of a lot better. I believe that a Foreign film treatment would have been broader and more insightful as America is still trying to decide whether it open it's mind or not.
