"Casa Susanna" Docu On PBS Wednesday, 6-28

All about the house of refuge for trans women and cross dressers that existed during the 1950's & 1960's.  It was located in the Catskills in NY state.  It should be available over the air and on cable networks in the U.S.

There was a write up about the place and show in WGBH's monthly magazine (in the greater Boston area).  Sounds like a worthwhile show to watch.

I was only able to stream part of it here in Japan, but I found it very moving.  And the stories (for my age group) to be so familiar and compelling.  Hopefully I can watch the rest.  Thank you for sharing @Carolyn Marie❣️

I'm hoping to save it to view after Tuesday as i have a meeting on Tuesday at 9:00 eastern.  I also want to watch it when my wife doesn't have to watch a subject that may cause her issues.  Funny how after 11+ years of living full time that is still an issue but i am sensitive to her feelings as possible.

Casa Susanna From the Collection: The LGBTQ+ experience 

 

In the 1950s and ’60s, an underground network of transgender women and cross-dressing men found refuge at a modest house in the Catskills region of New York. Known as Casa Susanna, the house provided a safe place to express their true selves and live for a few days as they had always dreamed—dressed as and living as women without fear of being incarcerated or institutionalized for their self-expression. Told through the memories of those who visited the house, the film provides a moving look back at a secret world where the persecuted and frightened found freedom, acceptance and, often, the courage to live out of the shadows.
