Lipstick that lasts

ChloeL

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I have been trying different kids of lipstick (Revlon, L'Oreal, ELF mostly) and have been trying to find one that looks nice (has a bit of shimmer), but also lasts at least a few hours.  The L'Oreal doesn't last at all, the Revlon lasts a bit longer but looks dull.  The ELF lipsticks have been mixed.

I'm wondering what the women on here think about a lipstick that gives nice color and some nice shimmer, but also keeps that good look for more than a few hours.  Or is reapplying every few hours just a part of being a woman?  I have asked this of a few of my female friends at work, and most of them say to go to lip gloss, which I don't like the feel of.  Is that the real answer?

Any advice is appreciated as always!!

I only wear lip gloss for that reason.

I work in a department store and occasionally have to work at the makeup counter, so I've run into this question before.

If you want shine that lasts more than an hour or so, gloss is really your only option unless you want to go for a really expensive lipstick option.  And even those seem to dry your lips out.

Any lipstick that lasts is probably going to be more matte.  One thing you might want to do Chloe, that I do sometimes is if you have a lipstick color you like, apply just a bit of clear lip gloss on top of it.  That might work for you.

That's a really good idea Madison.  Thanks!

Just remember to go very lightly with the gloss @April Marie and @ChloeL.  I agree that gloss can have a feel that's not as nice as lipstick, but if you do it very lightly to just get a bit of shine, it works well.  Just remember to use the edge of the container to get 90% or so of the gloss off the brush before applying to your lips.

Cloe, not sure how you would feel about lip paint, but it is all I wear.  My two go to lip paints are both made by Maybelline.  For many years, I have worn Maybelline 24, which you have to cover with a gloss coat (included).  The gloss is not wear resistant but the lip paint stays on for several hours.  You actually have to remove it with their remover or you can use baby oil, which I prefer.

My new favorite, however, is Vinyl Ink.  It's also made by Maybelline.  You put it on without a gloss coat.  It's called vinyl ink because the sheen resembles vinyl-very appealing-just the right amount of shine.  This formula takes longer to dry but once it is fully set it wears like iron.  I also use baby oil to remove it.

I like lip paint because I can put it on once and it lasts all day.  I hate constantly having to redo my lips.  It won't rub off on your clothes and you don't to worry about your hair messing up your lips.  Some people claim lip paints dry out their lips but I have never experienced that problem.

I will give these ideas a try, thanks!  I just don't like my lipstick looking dull and losing that shine so quickly, but I've also tried a few lip glosses and just don't like they way they feel.  But I have new things to try now, thanks all!

I read about her this morning. What a shame! She was beautiful and it seems she had a strong support system in place and could have had a wonderful life all to have it end like this. Such a waste. I truly hope the monster that killed her gets everything he deserves.

I am so glad you enjoy them as well. The help things “stay put” so well. It got me through some of my most dysphoric times.   Wow, I hadn’t heard this at last week’s Zoom meeting if you had mentioned it. That is a huge milestone April Marie.I have no doubt that this confidence will only grow in time. The freedom of being yourself, especially in public, is a wonderful feeling. I am truly happy for you.😘   *Big Congratulatory Hug* Susan R🌷

@Abigail Genevieve, that is not an appropriate question, IMO.  This isn't the Army/McCarthy hearings.   Carolyn Marie

Don't think Americans would go for the "compulsory" part. We kind of like not being told what to do ... Amazingly, there is great pushback on voter ID laws. The opponents say it discourages voting, especially among the poor and minorities. That is really a smokescreen IMO for those who want to harvest ballots from as many places as possible, including folks who don't exist or don't hold citizenship...

Pretty soon I think I might be ready to talk about gender-affirming care for kids, possibly w/r/t the Cass Review and its shortcomings.

She was a beautiful young woman ...   "What we do know is that the offender was a very violent individual and should not have been on our streets.”  Whether gender related or not, the mental health and incarceration issues in our country are incredibly bad and need to be addressed.

April,   I'm glad my entries are interesting to you.  TransCentralPA is a great organization with so many caring people.  I would strongly recommend you find a way to attend the Keystone Conference.  I guarantee you'll find it an amazing experience.     Hugs,   Sally

Dear @Sally Stone.  I think you should author a memoir based on these posts (maybe you're already working towards that?).  You could decide at a later time if/when you might want to publish.   I appreciate you sharing your deep connection with your friend Willa (and I am sorry for your loss) and the benefit of having a Trans friend and mentor in our Life and Journey.  I was fortunate to have found one also in our TGP friend @Kasumi63.   As you know we share many common Life themes in our stories.  Drop me a PM if you'd like to chat about it.  Looking forward to the next 'chapter'.

Voting is compulsory here, for better or worse. Would doing the same in the US snap people out of their apathy?

I am noting you use CRT terminology.  The comment is not out of the blue.  Some of your remarks on religion suggest atheism.  So it is believable that you are a Marxist, knowingly or not.  Are you?

Congrats to your family on the new addition!
