Kokomo City: by and about Black trans women

Directed and produced by director, producer, singer, songwriter, D. Smith, this gorgeous black and white arthouse documentary is about the lives of four Black trans women sex workers and men who are attracted to them. I became aware of the film because among other executive producers is Lena Waithe who is fabulous and whom I follow on insta. At first, the content of the film was heavy on descriptions of details of the actual work of the trade which did not interest me. But, I continued to watch this visually captivating film and was glad I did because it is also urgently philosophical in a raw and material manner and very candid and revealing.
