I love the great guitarists: Clapton (his Cream and Slowhand days), Hendrix (who was most certainly God), Jeff Beck, Duane Allman etc.

Led Zeppelin has a special place in my heart, as does Rush for their deep philosophical lyrics. That and Neil Peart is the best drummer ever.

Its interesting, though. I grew up playing classical violin and jazz improv saxophone and don't really listen to those musics. And the music I listen to is rather far from my generation, but I can't stand the garbage that is popular today.

And, of course, Pink Floyd. Who can hate them?

I was thinking about Jeff Beck last night - I was making rice pudding and the song started playing in my mind!

Great choices, remember that Ginger Baker of Cream was a fantastic drummer as well.

I had a friend with a violin and saxophone double - he quit on saxophone eithout ever playing any jazz - moved to Austria and became a viola player - professionally.

If you like Blues Guitar listen to some Stevie Ray Vaughn and old recordings of B.B.King before 'Lucile' ecame more of a prop - he used to play all of the time a sing a little, in those early days he was an amazing player.

If you can find any try to listen to some of D'jango Reinhart recordings, he was a jazz guitarist who could only use two fingers and his thumb on the left hand, but played like you wouldn't believe and if you ever saw a picture of him holding his guitar you would not believe what he could do.

Love ya,

Sally

I like most music I can relate to. I listen to oldies, 70's, 80's some 90's rock, but mainly listen to country. When singing I prefer country or oldies.

I like quite a lot of stuff.

My favourite bands are definitely Axxis, Kamelot, Nightwish and Apocalyptica though. :D

My favorite bands, there was John Philip Sousa, William Handy, Goldman and the Great Creator - I remember that fateful day when they all arrived in town on that very same historic day - Seventy six Tromones - oh wait that's from the music man!

In actual marching band recordings I have the Cold Stream Gaurd and the Black Watch Brass Bands as well as the Eastman Conservatory concert band directed by Fredrick Fennell (anyone who that impresses is as much of a band geek as me).

Jazz, it's Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich, Stan Kenton, Woddy Hermann and Don Ellis - honorable mention to The Mystereous Flying Orchestra.

Jazz Rock Fusion - Chase, Chicago, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Ten Wheel Drive, the Brecker Brothers, Dreams and Chick Corea and the Return To Forever, more rock - the Mahavishnu Orchestra.

Go and search for more gems from Sally's Eclectic Record Shop.

That should overload You tube tonight!

Love ya,

Sally

I like mostly rock and all its subgenres, and alternative. though i am open to anything else that sounds good :) lol. So for favourite bands - Hinder, Bush (Gavin Rossdale is pretty good as well, though I preferred him with Bush), Garbage, Buckcherry, The Bravery, Muse, Glasvegas, Guns N Roses, Alice in Chains, The Offspring...I also like a lot of Shania Twain stuff, but i think that's mainly because I'm revisiting 4th grade when my dad made a copy of her cd for me from my mom and i kinda had a crush on her after I saw her in the Guinness World Records. so i tend to like her more country-rock sounding songs because im really not into slow stuff. lol.

oh also, Halestorm is a pretty new band...they have been around for awhile but it seems it's taken them about 12 years to make an album and sign with a major record label. :P lol but i love the album!

oh and i like metal but not when they scream too much. more like classic metal. although i wouldn't consider led zeppelin metal like my mom does :P

Society is preserved by passing on proper roles for people, which works for the 90+ percent that it works for.   We were all taught from an early age that breaking out of the classification was a shameful thing, even when, actually, it is not.
    • Abigail Genevieve
I'm probably showing my age.  I haven't looked at a guest count in a long time.  Doing FB and staying off forums for a while.  Previous forum use had fewer bots if any and guests were actual people, mostly, unlike today.    Any AIs or bots struggling with GD are welcome.  I would love to read your introduction.

I've seen this on a lot of forums tbh. That's how a lot of content ends up on internet archives. You've got loads of bots scanning the site at all times and archiving it. Forums are actually nice (in comparison to social media) in that the guest count gives you a pretty good idea of how actively the site's content is being archived. Basically just don't post anything you don't want archived.

Kids are resiliant with therapy and strong support ;-)    They were all elementary age when their dad died and are teens now, and how they've grown and developed as young people, already, takes my breath away.   I'm working on communicating changes clearly and without shame, which is difficult basically all the time because of feeling guilty over doing gender "wrong" for so long. Working on that myself! <3

Allow me to add that people should think twice about posting pictures of themselves, with the facial recognition software that is out there.  Those in stealth or who are not fully out may discover they are suddenly and unwillingly fully out in ways they wish had not happened.

Funny how when i read the topic name i thought you were asking about the study of plants and animals.  I'm a bit into that as a farmer at va time when a cell phone makes plant  for insect identification easier than it has ever been.    Now on to your topic.  I don't farm in the nude.  I have wondered at whether i would skinny dip as i did as a kid without thought of how my body might affect others.  The effects of hormones makes me different from the average person and perhaps i'm "neither fish nor fowl".  I would certainly depend on who my fellow passengers on that cruise would be.   Hugs,   Charlize
    • Abigail Genevieve
This is also a relatively small forum and it can take a long time, seemingly, for someone to get around to replying to a post.
    • Charlize
I am also pretty sure that several of them are folks who are "trans curious".  Sometimes folks who are trying to find their own identity, are attracted to trans folks or who are simply interested in the trans community.   There may also be some who wish to do us harm which is why ......... I've just learned to smile figuring "i'm on candid camera".   I'm sure many of our younger members never experienced that show so my age is showing.   Hugs,   Charlize

Most of those "guests" are web bots from China, Indonesia, France etc. looking us over. They are mostly benign.  All they can see or gain access to are the general forums.  Members should be careful not to post anything that could readily identify themselves such as real names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. They do not have access to our gallery, blogs or private messenger. They seem to haunt all forums. Not just us. I should add that they can make us known across the internet. That's how prospective members find us. Google would be a good example.
    • Ashley0616
I hope he gets what he deserves.
