I'm into the early 90's grunge music like Nirvana, bush and Smashing Pumpkins but i lately it's been harder stuff like Dragpipe and American Head Charge. But I can get into pretty much anything as long as i can relate to the lyrics.

Most of the music I like is not very well known. My favorite genre of music is Celtic/Celtic fusion and about the only genre I don't like is rap.

Favorite bands/singers/musicians/composers (No top favorite):

Horslips, The Pogues, Oingo Boingo, Blue Oyster Cult, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, Emerald Rose, Gaelic Storm, The Tossers, Blue October, Dragonforce, Cruachan, Voltaire, The Beatles, Beyond the Pale, Bon Jovi, The Eagles, Fisticuffs, My Chemical Romance, Piano Squall, Siobhan, The Statler Brothers, Stiff Little Fingers, Tchaikovsky, and Era...

There's a few more, but I can't think of them right now.... Sorry the list was so long. And I have too many favorite songs to list.

Nine Inch Nails! Right now my fave, especially since my friend and I went down to see a concert yesterday.

Also, Radiohead, Beck, Muse, Rammstein (though less so than before... :( ), System of a Down (a bit), Meshuggah (crazy, crazy stuff), some other stuff too, but mostly the first four I mentioned.

Chelsea: I'm a sucker for most of those in your top 7 bands. Coincidentally, my fondness of them is in that order. =P

Jamie: Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins are the shizz, and I was pretty stoked when the Smashing Pumpkins made a comeback this year.

Lee: I haven't heard of that genre, but I've probably unknowingly listened to it. I don't know most of the bands you like, unfortunately. Except for like, Blue Oyster Cult and the other obviouses. But being the curious thing that I am, I'll get around to listening to them. The stand out in your list that I actually know are The Beatles, since I lord them. :P

RainBird: I listened to the link, and I really like the song. It's relaxing, no? While at the same time I want to do a little dance. When I first saw the background image I was half expecting metal. :P

Jen: I like some J-Pop, but Ayumi Hamasaki is the only artist that comes to mind. As for Hilary Duff... I won't say it. :P I'll be good.

theEND: You named a few of my favourite bands. Muse, Placebo, and Mindless Self Indulgence. I saw MSI live, and they were insane and awesome. It was a shame that fangirls attempted to sing along to the songs, though, since most people can't sing as fast as him nor understand the lyrics.

Hypersonic: NIN have a special place in my heart, since the first song I learnt on guitar was a NIN song. I envy you for having seen one of their concerts! Radiohead are also a personal favourite, especially 'Karma Police' and 'Creep'. It amuses me how he fully pays himself out in that song. :P

Daru: I love Japanese music too. Have you ever gotten into the Visual Kei stuff? Bands like Malice Mizer and Japan X, even though Visual Kei is dying out.. Malice Mizer is Gackt Camui's old band, if you recognise his name at all. :P Kanon Wakeshima, Ayumi Hamasaki, HYDE/L'arc~en~Ciel, Maximum The Hormone, Gackt/Malice Mizer are my favourite Japanese artists.

Gah.

I felt like replying to everyone else, just because I'm cool like that. :P

As for what I like... well, all the aforementioned bands that I named above plus The Academy Is..., Adam Ant, Architecture In Helsinki, Arctic Monkeys, As Tall As Lions, Audioslave, Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, Anberlin, Breaking Benjamin, Brand New, Behind Crimson Eyes, Bloc Party, Cobra Starship, The Cranberries (but not live!), The Cure, David Bowie, Death Cab For Cutie, The Dresden Dolls, The Fratellis, Goodnight Nurse, The Grates, HIM, Hoobastank, Horsell Common, Kaiser Chiefs, Klaxons, Madina Lake, Mae, The Matches, Maximo Park, Mechnical Bride, Menomena, Mew, MGMT, Of Montreal, Operator Please, Panic At The Disco, Patrick Wolf, The Pink Spiders, Pirates of Penzance, The Polyphonic Spree, Powerspace, The Radio Dept., Robots In Disguise, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Sex Pistols, Three Days Grace, The White Stripes, 30 Seconds To Mars, Incubus.

I know, I'm evil and used the aid of my iPod. But trust me, that's the shortlist. I've used 70GB of space on my iPod so I find the list admirably short. D:

This is a topic I'm always interested in. Here it goes:

- Metallica;

- Alice In Chains;

- Dream Theatre;

- Johnny Cash;

- Tori Amos;

- Tom Waits;

- Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds;

- Tool;

- Holly Cole;

- Al di Meola;

And the list goes on, and on...

But Metallica have been with me for the last 18 years (oh no, just realized for how long... it seems yesterday!)

I've seen them live too, but it was only for 30 minutes since there was like 20 bands to get through and they weren't the main act. They are awesome though..they're my all time favourite band ^_^

I admit, when I listen to music I often don't pay attention to who the artist is. I do recognize most of those, though! I've only been to a couple concerts, all of them Japanese bands! The pillows was my favorite. The pillows have a lot of great songs!

I know and like Gackt, but I like Miyavi more! Miyavi is so adorable! And his songs are fun! I bet he would be such a fun person to know irl! There's tons of Miyavi music videos on youtube =3

As for the rest, I have probably heard some of their songs but I don't know them :P

Japanese music is definitely on the top of my list though I don't really pay attention to who the artist is. So I'm pretty much clueless when people start listing names of people and bands. :P

You saw MSI for 30 minutes? About the same amount of time I saw them, really. It was at the Soundwave Festival, and if I recall correctly, they had 40 bands to get through. They have such a stand out stage presence...

I wish to see my favourite Japanese artists in concerts, but unfortunately World Wide tours apparently don't include Australia. :P I don't know much about Miyavi, but I recognise his name. I think he's part of Skin? Some sort of superband thing that also has Gackt and an X Japan member in it, anyway.. I don't think they've actually done anything as 'Skin', though, except for one performance at an animé convention. T'is a shame. Imagine all the J-Rock gods in the same band...

Miyavi probably is a lot more fun than Gackt. Gackt doesn't seem very excitable on his TV appearances. But he makes me think of Vampyres, which makes me happy... okay, I like him because his voice is the sex ._. There's probably about a ten year age gap between Gackt and Miyavi.. which maybe explains why Gackt is so stoic? o.o I know HYDE is 39, and Gackt hasn't given out his age... (Well, he has, but he says he's a vampyre and 450 years old or so), but it's estimated to be about 37. xD; Yeah. I'm stalker-ish.

Neh, Sara, there are a lot of Japanese songs that I've listened to and liked, but I have no idea who the artists were. I had a Japanese buddy at school once, you see, and I pretty much stole her iPod... the poor thing. :P

Oh cool, is that good? I went to Give It A Name, there were 29 proper bands but a whole bunch of rubbish ones to fill in inbetween.

I listen to a lot of different artists, I like drum n' bass like deiselboy. Trance like infected mushroom. Gabba and hhc like anabolic frolic and galaxy 98.

And a lot of old school punk, such as the adicts, DOA, dead kennedys, the cockney rejects, black flag,bad religion, and so on. Also newer punk like nofx. Then everything else like mindless self indulgence, reel big fish, and I love the stray cats and sublime.

Music's really all I know.

I won't even try to list my favourite bands and songs, cos there's so many of them and I'd probably miss heaps out. I'm mostly into rock, techno, dance, house, drum n bass, etc. But really, I'll listen to pretty much anything that isn't "gangsta" :P

I like all kinds of stuff I guess, but mostly metal. I like SOME death metal like Nile, Behemoth and Deicide, but mostly melodic/symphonic stuff like Nightwish, Battlelore, Within Temptation, Paradise lost etc.

      @Willow things went pretty well on Monday. I have been working on the project all week long. I've been hanging out with my husband a lot, since he said that nobody would mind because I'm working on company stuff. My work is going slowly, but it is going. Rather better than I had hoped.   I ended up waking up late this morning. After 18 months of only working on house chores, not really used to doing anything else. Actually a little bit tired

      Getting back to this… I've seen objections to Critical Race Theory, but simply "critical theory" is a new one on me.  I think we need to be "critical" about a lot of things, or at least examine why we believe what we do about them.  If they stand up under scrutiny, great.  If not perhaps we need to look at something else.   Not all socialists are Soviet Russian Communists. I have read very little Marx myself.  That kind of writing bores me quickly.  But I think there are legitimate concerns about unfettered capitalism.  There are countries that seem to do well on a mixture of capitalism and socialism.  But I am no Tankie.   The Red Scare kinda morphed into the Lavender Scare, and now we have this Transgender Scare.   The thing is, most people are scared to get to know any of the people they are scared of. I'm not scared of evangelical christians.  But I am a little scared of what they seem ready to do to me, because they are scared of me. I am not a scary person - don't want to be.  I'm just an old trans woman trying to mind my own business, and get with what's left of my life. And the 2025 project seems to be designed to make that difficult.

      My mom has been more accepting of me being trans lately and even promised i could get a binder if i pay with my own money. The preferred name is still an issue. So far my mom, close friends and brother know i identify as trans but no one else does. I recently told mr grandparents about my partner and explaines the perferred name as a nickname they prefer to have. Luckily everyone who knows is accepting but i feel like i still have so much progress to make. Started getting more uncomfortbale being reffered to as my deadname and she/her in public. My therapist is getting me a trans pin for my birthday next time I see her. I have hop but sometimes I feel like the goal is so far. HRT and top surgery are things i know i want but there has been warnings given to me about the problems that come with it from the ones that have accepted me and I trust most. Mainly from the adults in my life that know, also been getting nervous many people dont see me as a man but i also go to an all girl school. being consistenly reffered to as women has started to get to me and have had urge on several occasions to write perferred name on paper. i dont think pereffered name can go into school system due to being catholic school and for graduation diploma we have to contact the person in charge and ask. I just need some advice on what to do, I am thank ful for the advice everyone had given me, made me feel better about future and hope that I can transition but also worry about familial ties and affect. due to most f them being born in the 80's and 90's and not taking it well originally mostly based on my moms reaction. I love my family alot but how they might react is scaring me. my mom still donesnt want them to know. I know they love me but when I eventually come out and medically trasition in several years hopefully, what will happen? there are little kids in the family and I already dont see them a lot, how would their parents react? what would they say to the kids? I know my aunt would not take it well due to political belief and warnings from cousins.

      Maybe.  But they'd probably resent being required to do it.   IDK.  You have to show ID to register already.  And you have to be registered to vote.

      Hah! Woke up the Red Scare!   I’ve never read Marx. I tend to believe in the inherent goodness in people. I let their words and deeds change that. Insisting people are immoral/less than/should not exist, stripping them (or keeping them from) human rights, is an a most basic example of true evil. What evils do LGBTQ+ people present simply existing? How does the Right justify their crusade against us? What justifies the manufactured fear and loathing they spout every day about us?

      Congrats on the new addition @Ivy I have the opposite I have 4 grandson and a granddaughter. 3 of whom are visiting this weekend. I am feeling better. I think the biggest thing is that I got some much needed sleep.   Well gotta go and speed sometime with the grandsons.   Kymmie

      I saw this concert in which it is said that the famous phrase of Jon Landau "I saw the future of rock and roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen" comes from that night. By the way Bruce opened for Bonnie Raitt that night and she was the better performer . . . just sayin'.
    • KathyLauren
      Astronomy and astrophotography.  I have done a few public presentations on the subject and could most likely wing it for an hour without putting you to sleep.   On the other hand if you need a sleeping pill, I could also talk for an hour about flying and you'd be out cold.

      Please consider joining us, even if it's just for a few minutes to see what the meetings are like. I've learned so much, had so much fun and gained confidence in myself just by being a part of this amazing group of people. It's a low key, no pressure, non-judgmental chance to just be among people who are supportive, understanding and affirming of each other.    I'm travelling out of state and still planning on dropping in for awhile.    Come see what it's like!!

      Thank you, Susan!! It was such an amazing experience for me. I can't remember if I even talked about it on a Zoom meeting.   Here is the link to the post I made about it. And, again, thank you for helping to give me the courage to do it.
