I would die to have the ability to bear a child. It brings tears to my eyess whenever I think that I will never be able to have kids as genetic girls do :(
I'd love it too, as genetic girls do. That's gotta be nothin' but a wonderful experience.

Hi everyone, well I'm a night owl and just came on the forums to see where I could get involved in a good conversation. Well now, let's see first of I love children. I had 11 of them go under my roof though the years. I often day dreamed of what it would be like to have my own children but unfortunately I guess it wasn't in the cards for me. I'm an M/F full time for the past 9 years and also post opp.

For one when my sister left her ex she came to live with me with her four children, three girls one boy.

I met another woman and we lived together for 10 years during this time I was also left with the care of a young Ojibwa lady the daughter of a friend and she was in my care off and on for three years.

Well not long after that I got married when I was 31 years old to my ex who already had a little girl she was truly a little doll and even now all grown up she is a really attractive young woman. Anyway I had a boy and a girl which I loved more then life itself.

Five years later I left my ex with fear of the possibility getting killed in the middle of the nigh and the three children were taken by the province. I did some traveling for a time then living from one place to the other then ended up back in the town my children lived with my ex. At least I got to have some time with them before they shipped off to college. My son stayed with me for a couple of years then he was killed crossing a highway at night.

Now for the last three children, they were left in my care at the same time I had just started living full time as myself. I took care of those children like they were my own while my friend, the children's mom, went away for drug rehabilitation. I had those three kids for two years, probably the happiest two years of my life, I could actually be a mom legally, for a time. It tore my heart out when their aunt showed up to take them away.

Unfortunately I couldn't bear my own children, I was blessed with having them in my home.

Reading a book by Germaine Greer (she really really really doesn't like us) where one of her slams was that no "Man made woman " has ever asked to have a uterus and bear children. My reation was - hey if it was availalbe I'd sign up to be the first! That got me thinking - first - virtually every other organ in the body can be transplanted - why not a uterus - or for that matter - the entire works? That then got me to thinking - am I the only one? - is Germaine essentially correct and there really is no interest. So A little pole - who amongts the mtf crowd would sign up for such a transplant and just for equal time - Why couldn't male testes, scrotum and penius be transplanted.

Looking forward to your comments

As far as I know it's not possible. There are too many blood vessels and such connecting the uterous to the body and too much happens in the womb for a transplant to be realistic.

You also lack the bone structure to give birth. Women have larger hips for that reason.

If if were possbile, I'd love to carry a child and give birth.

One thing that im wondering is if doctors can make the sack and the T's into a uterus and overies. not nessisarly ones that could hold a baby but just so that we can have something so then doctors cant imedetly figure out that we where once men.

I would without pause, especially if it was as a surrogate parent (Just being honest here; I don't want the responsibility).

Here's a similar question that I almost hesitate to ask because what what the possible responses would be, but here goes: if you could menstruate, would you?

Obviously you'd have to have the whole shebang, eggs and all. Me, I'd accept that, even if it meant living with some horrible cramps.

I always thought, Why can't they switch the organs of MTF and FTM? I have always thought that made sense to me. I guess we are low priority, but I would have thought I would have seen something in the news by now.

I've heard the argument about why it wouldn't be medicallyl feasible for "transplant", yet, if perhaps you could engineer the cells that develop the female reproductive system in their entirety and I dunno "grow it" inside of a MtF and have it be viable and functional I would be all for that. And I would be all for it simply because I do agree that its part of making someone who is a woman feel "whole" and I think that at the point that an individual is a woman in body mind and spirit she is then entitled to function as one.

My thought on the subject has not changed - it would be great if we could give birth, but a lot of Genetic Girls are infertile so according to Germaine Greer's criteria - they are not women either!

The ability to have children is not what makes us women rather than men - the desire to have a child and nurture it may well go to the foundations of our desires, but it is not what makes a woman a woman.

My sister has never had a child so I guess she no longer qualifies as a woman, her husband was the one that was infertile so I guess he isn't a man. My mother had a historictomy so she's now masculine?

We have taken this thread in a direction that makes me wonder how many of us have a problem seperating sex and gender! Let's just say that most MTFs have a maternal instinct - not all, not all GGs do either!

Today is Christmas day, so let us all decide to respect everyone's opinion and have peace and love for a today!

There's plenty of time for blood letting tomorrow!

Please don't mention Germaine Greer  I hate that little cup cake in a skirt. I'm sorry, but she pisses me right off.

For those who don't know who she is: http://ai.eecs.umich.edu/people/conway/TS/...e%20mother.html

And you are right, it does not "make" or "unmake" the state of womanhood. However it might be a very fulfilling experience for someone as a female. And if its in direct proportion to how much I would not want to experience that, then I would have sympathy for that woman much as I have sympathy for any genetic female who wants to do it and cannot, and had sympathy for an ex who wanted to do the same thing and physically could but had a mate who couldn't give her that.

And I still have peace and love for everybody "so there" lol

In all seriousness, much love to everyone. --Even if I go off on tangients :D

Thanks, Evan, for the websites.

Because this is Christmas, I looked at the first website. I did a rotation in the transplant unit at my first university. That was way cool. With allograft transplantation now, I think this idea is cool.

Because this is Christmas, I have not looked at the second website. I (thankfully so it sounds) do not know who Germaine Greer. I don't want to be mad on Christmas. But I'll look at it in a few minutes.

Happy Christmas to everyone. Or whatever his or her holiday of choice for one's religion.

Aah, on a serious note, I wouldn't want a penis transplant. I'd much rather it be made of my own flesh and blood, and my own DNA. So, I'd much rather cheer on a way to grow these organs (the profession I want to get when I'm done with college) than transplant.

I wanted to work on that too! But I was thinking more along the lines of during college, since there are research opportunities for undergrads. The problem I'd have with this is I'd have to go explaining to the prof. I'm working under that I want to create a tissue-engineered penis, which may lead to me having to give them an explanation why :P

But I'm glad to see someone else on here who wants to do this. I thought I was like the only one in the world that wanted to work on this stuff during/after college. Let me know if you ever wanna collab. or something. lol

btw I'm a bio major...hopefully that helps :)

So yeah I def. also want the ability to impregnate, although I'm very undecided about kids right now. The main reason is really just that I want to be no different than any biological male in terms of "structure and function." lol

you know what your absolutly right, and if they do find out how to do it, the women who are FTM can give their uterus and all of a sudden they would have 1000s of MTFs signing up for the operation, if they could make me 100% female and by that i mean alow me to produce eggs, have a period, have my vocal choards completely changed so there is no possible way for anyone to tell i was a male in the "darker" time of my life, and EVEN HAVE THE ABILITY TO FEEL THE PAIN OF CHILD BIRTH, and even if it took 10 years i would sign up for it, no matter how much pain it could possibly give me, as long as i could live and have those experiences i would do it instantaniously, and i bet my fellow girls would agree with me that they shouldnt "just" do research on diseases but also on surgurys and new and improved pills for transgendered individuals, as soon as im old enough to get a job (im only 14 and nobody will give me a "Real" job)

i will save up untill i have 1 million dollars (i know it is unlikely to happen but ill try my best) to give to transgender research! to help the next generations of transgered guys and gals to have what we dont.

I really should’ve devoted more thought to this thread before posting the other night. Since then I have made time to sit and think about this and nothing’s changed. To start and putting it quite simply, there are some lines you just don’t cross. Granted, I’m on this site for a reason. If the opportunity (financial and otherwise) presented itself I would immediately begin my transition to female so as to have a body more conducive to my heart and mind. Not only would this provide me more physical freedom to function in public regarding my feminine mannerisms, it would also provide great peace of mind that my efforts to correct a mistake have paid off. I would be a much happier person in several facets. Personally, bein’ male is close enough to hell for me. It’s something I struggle with every day. Make no mistake about it, one of my dearest dreams is to be a woman and become pregnant by a warm, loving, and supportive man. I think pregnancy, the birth, breast feeding, and every aspect of the nurturing involved would be a very joyful and rewarding experience. This is part of my dream in which I’m a genetic female. I would never elect to undergo a uterus transplant so as to become pregnant as a transgendered girl. Not only is there the biochemical aspect to consider, but the impact on the child’s psyche that his/her mother was once male. I feel that one who would take advantage of such a surgery is quite the inconsiderate individual. It’s selfishly motivated. You (whoever would undergo this surgery) would follow through with something like this simply because you wanna become pregnant, not thinking about how this may adversely affect the child in question? Think about it, this is someone’s life we’re talkin’ about hear. Why roll the dice on putting that child at a serious disadvantage from the very start?

about it being tramatic for the child well if you dont hide it from him or her they will grow up knowing it and it not being tramatic at all, if you hide it until they are in there teens then it might be tramatic, if you raise them having the knowladge that information, they will know that transsexuals are a natural part of life and they will grow up thinking "my mom was once a guy, so what she is who she is and i love her."

the guy in your link's name is thomas beatie the guy in jenny's link's name is not. and the title is WORLDS FIRST PREGNENT MALE.

I wish it would happen at a quicker pace but I just don't know exactly who is willing to devote their time to it. If there are a lot of people working on it they sure are keeping themselves hidden...

Yeah the orgasm thing is a big problem :P
