I looked that up and found it is in D major, with relative minor being B minor.  Not sure I know what I just wrote but I love the song.  I read this funny tidbit.

In the chorus, Sting, not knowing any other word which would rhyme with "magic," used the word "tragic." Copeland said of this moment, "I remember Sting for years trying to think of a rhyme for 'magic', as in 'Every Little Things She Does Is Magic.' I think the only word he could come up with, apart from 'tragic', was 'pelagic', which means 'ocean going'. There I was in my leather pants and punk hairdo, pondering the distinction between ocean-going and river-going fish."

What I am referring to is something I learned from a wonderful on line producer named Rick Beato - really highly suggest giving him a listen . He says the bass line is a LYDIAN BASS LINE

I was hoping to find something akin to that.  I've watched a number of Rick's YT video's.  Interesting guy!

Yes - I am aware of Paul Weller and Jools Holland and Amy though I've never really listened - will need to immerse myself in their music.

Agreed I know blues artists who play this style and have them for programs locally as often as possible.

I mentioned earlier that I have followed a group called Stackridge since the early '70s and that 2 of their group went on to form the Korgis. Just been listening to a recent version by James Warren (of both Stackridge and Korgis) of "Everybody's got to learm sometime" which was probably the Korgis biggest hit and has been used in quite a lot of films and tv programmes.

I put on a FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY concert each year at our big theater and we doing a costumed version of well known bands - this year I did Tom Petty and my wife did Stevie Nicks and we sang a duet of this song

This song has really caught my ear lately. The electronic beat is catchy and the lyrics are such happy queer love, it's just awesome. It really resonates in a way with the struggle I am having with my wife accepting the change to our relationship since coming out. Just want her to do it like her mother told her not to do. ;)

I like how it goes from the sonic version of out of focus to crystal clarity - nice choice of modern instrumentation
