Where do you get your clothes from?

I get a lot of stuff from Next online (I collect from a local store/return if it doesn't fit), ASOS, Shein and Boohoo.

I also get a lot of stuff from Primark in the flesh, as I'm quite andro looking even in 'boy mode' and if I have a mask on most people can't tell I'm a 'biological boy' so to speak.  I get 100% of my jeans from there, tights, jackets and the odd dress/seperates.   Most of my lingerie actually comes from Ann Summers, but not the sexy stuff, just the normal wear bits they have on sale and I'm brave enough to just walk in, browse and buy.  The most dificulty I have there is getting a bra in my size (36A) but that happens online as well.

Being rather large I shop at City Chic online for outer wear.  We do have a CD focused shop Lady Bits about an hour drive away that has a selection of Large size shoes amongst other Items. Great service. I have M12 feet and need a W15 in closed toe footwear. I am (impatiently) waiting on some shoes from Asos, when I buy something I want it now. lol

I use Amazon a lot. I went a little crazy when I realized that you can order stuff and then pick it up at a drop location like Whole Foods of Kohls.

I'm usually found at the Target clearance rack. I've done most of my in person shopping at Walmart and target. Online I've bought from Amazon and Shein, but I may stop buying online, I'd rather try things on before buying.

Help!

Completely new to buying clothing, what kind of things would I need to start with? I was thinking of something that is female, but people couldn't tell - things like high waisted trousers, does that make sense?

What style of skirt / dress / top does everyone recommend?

A good idea is to look at what the other women in your age range are wearing in your area.  Unless you really want to stand out - which is not always the best idea.

I like shopping at Walmart. I rarely order things online because I want to try clothing on in a store to be sure it fits me, and that it looks flattering (I hope). I'm really into yoga pants/leggings lately and Walmart has plenty of colors and sizes to choose from, and their prices are very reasonable. And they are sooo comfortable!

Otherwise I like consignment dress shops, quirky (but not overly expensive) boutiques, and even thrift stores sometimes (if something really catches my eye there). I shop all of them in-person, only ordering online if I can't find whatever it is I need locally.

Once upon a time, I would never have summoned up the courage to face other people when buying girly things for myself. But nowadays, whether I look very femme on a particular day or not, I'll just stroll right in to the ladies sections acting as if I own the place. And browse around and pick things out, just like the other girls do. Because I have the same right to be there.

I got some new clothes from White Stuff today. I think they do some really nice items. It can be a bit expensive sometimes, but you can usually see their stuff in other shops on sale.

I've found that once i established a style and now know my size in that style that eBay works well for me.  I have learned that searches can be narrowed to a point that the flood of possibilities doesn't lead me too far afield.

Hugs,

Kohls clearance racks sometimes have some nice stuff... I bought lots of shorts there back in the spring (of course they were full-priced then -- I couldn't wait)...

Amazon! I like Amazon because of its fast delivery. The variety of clothes is good enough to me.

Yes! And, at least where I live, you can have items delivered to a place like Kohls or Whole Foods in case you are worried who might notice what has arrived on your doorstep...
