Seems people along the New England coast are reporting record barometric lows. No wonder this storm is so fierce, it's kin to a hurricane!

Since I couldn't sleep, I had to check in. Coffee won't happen for a while yet, though.

Oh boy.  -14*F outside and I’m snug under my electric lap blanket drinking my first mug.  Enjoying some quiet time while the house warms up a little.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Just finished cleaning all my drains. You cannot imagine how badly I want a shower. I probably smell like a corpse. Progress though if I feel good enough to notice how bad I smell.

Hugs!

Coffee time! I looked out the window and I couldn't see the street. It took a while, but it seems the storm has finally come to the Twin Cities. I guess we're expected to get six to twelve inches. Not looking forward to shoveling that...

Sunday!  Espresso morning!  Sunny but cold here: -9C; windchill -13C.

After the storm passed it's been mild here, down in the mid 30s, a bit windy and dreary. But coffee is on. I'm good after a night of interrupted sleep, managed to fall asleep in the chair with all kinds of weird dreams. I do tend to dream a lot.

But the dreams are all over the map, with a consistent theme, that I'm a female. On awakening I'm disappointed with the outside, but not unhappy being who I now know I am.

In real life, I met this cute young man at the bank yesterday. Our eyes met and it was like he'd "found" someone. He flirted with me very subtly. It really made my day. Obviously I'm way too old for him, but no one has paid any attention to me in so long, I'd forgotten all about how it feels. I don't dare dwell on it too much, but...

The experience was very uplifting.

It’s actually warm today so I fell asleep again after my 6 am alarm went off. Now I’m debating whether to start cleaning the kitchen or to take a shower.

I organized my stuff yesterday and put things that belong together, well, together.

My roommate got sick so she’s probably resting today and I don’t want to disturb her. It’s been a hectic week for us. We had to deal with the outbursts of her ex who was allowed to come over to get their things but instead they took a power saw to the other bedroom door and proceeded to steal anything my roommate had of value. The mediator recorded it because they were not supposed to damage anything. Then they threatened to kick my door in so I called the police and finally they ran off. They aren’t allowed to return and the video, pictures, are police reports will all be turned over to the judge to uphold the restraining order. They couldn’t do anything during that 2 hours because it was a “civil matter”. But they can do something once the judge gets all the information.

Luckily my roommates therapist and everyone she deals with connected to the government about this case has put it in writing that I have to stay here because I’m a huge part of her support system for healing after being abused by this other individual. So yeah. Time for coffee and a shower. I’d really like a bath but the tub doesn’t hold water without a drain plug.

Yikes! Even if she's not sick the poor dear sounds like she could use a break. I hope today is more restful for both of you.

Monday morning I’m up with the dog and my coffee.

weather is calling for record highs and rain this week.  The bad weather you are experiencing is supposed to pull warm air up from the south ahead of it and then rain when it gets here.  We just had close to 2” and now more Wednesday afternoon and again Friday.  At least it’s not that nasty white stuff.  A half inch shuts everything down here.

Having coffee, listening to the wind bang the chimes around outside, glad the rain has stopped for a little while.

Wishing everyone a cheerful day!

Laying in bed like a slug. I'm not allowed to do much. Might get hot chocolate though. Making sad eyes at Susan until she takes pity on me.

I get to talk to my therapist later today though. That will be fun.

Other than that, I'll spend the day in discomfort,  bleeding into a pair of Depends. Spirits are high. We're living the dream. I hope everyone is living their truth!

Hello All.

Morning snow fall again in VT but the roads were actually not to bad.  I still wasn't able to do 65 in a 50 but I got to work in a reasonable amount of time  LOL

Coffee in the mug is still hot and going down slow but sure.  Off to go do something at work so I can say I earned my paycheck.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Yesterday my wife went out to pick up a med for me and came back with a bouquet of flowers.  I think I'll keep her!

That’s great!  Unfortunately for me I was born in a state that does not permit you to ever change the gender marker one a birth certificate so no matter what, I will be male as long as I live.

just made my coffee and fed the dog.   The street looks damp but not wet so I don’t know if it rained or if it’s dew.  Not much going on today.

have a great day everyone.

That's awesome!  I am so happy for you.  I am starting to look into getting things changed soon.  I was waiting to get through tax season and refund cashing fist.  LOL

Vermont has a very easy process too and I am so happy about this.

$150 to change the name in a 5 minute court appearance and $15 to change your drivers license and markers afterwards.

Then Social Security and birth certs.  Ughh   That one seems big.

I love the flowers, Jani!  Yes, your wife is a keeper. :)

For a couple of years, I despaired of ever being able to change the gender on my birth certificate.  The Brits wouldn't do it unless my Canadian documents were already amended, and the local authorities wouldn't change my documents unless I had already changed my birth certificate.  Talk about a Catch 22!

Finally, I pointed out to the Vital Statistics department that this amounted to discrimination on the basis of national origin.  I think that was a convincing argument: I never threatened legal action, but the fear of a Charter of Rights challenge is a powerful motivator in bureaucracies.  Last year, they changed the regulations so I could get my gender legally changed here.

Now my application is with the Brits.  They said they'll let me know in 14 weeks. ?  The hoops they make us jump through!

Regards,

Kathy

I got a late start this morning as i was up very late(early) processing maple syrup in the sugar house.  We had our first draw of the season so all the work is finally beginning to pay.  I'll be boiling today but as it didn't freeze last night then i'll get a break.

Love the flowers!

Don't work too hard Charlize

Terrible flooding in our area, a piece of farm land in the valley below our hill is completely under water, it looked like a lake when I drove by. Just another day on the job for me, have a few minutes to participate on the boards in between tasks. 3rd cup of medium roast as I type this....

Have a nice day all

We love udon noodles here! Sometimes we have the skinny Singaporean ones, sometimes we have rice, but those fat buggers are simply devine! 😍

My Gen Z transwoman roommate and my Gen X drummer roommate and I made two wonderful stir fry in the traditional wok on the high power propane burner on the back deck.  We splurged both times and had udon noodles in them with brussel sprouts, pepper and onions with a peanut and sesame sauce.   Been having them with seasoned white rice lately too.  I've been enjoying putting dill in them with the toasted sesame oil, turmeric and white pepper.

Good morning everyone,   It's grass cutting day here on our little corner lot. The sidewalk that goes along the south side of our house, leads to a city park so we get a ton of foot traffic on it. I keep the lawn mowed and the sidewalk edged for the best street appeal. Several in the neighborhood have said its the slowest part of the walk because they have to stop to look at the flowers or watch a bird at the feeder. All of the dogs know they have fun hugs coming from me if I'm in the yard, and the conversations with the neighbors also give their hearts a chance to reach a resting beat.   @April Marie while you're working on your tan, please don't forget sunscreen. @KymmieLgood luck with the job search, it's so stressful to be the punching bag at work. @WillowI've never sold a car to a friend or someone I knew. Buyer beware, sold as is.   Hugs,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

We pulled a leftover beef stir-fry out of the freezer. With Asian greens, noodles, cashews, all in a honey/sesame sauce.

Whether it is Sunday or not - may I ask, how long does the whole process take?    My every-morning basic 'beauty routine' - shave face/wash/hair/other grooming already takes over 10 minutes. My wife is basically beating down the door, lol!

We did pretty well for almost 40 years.   But by then we were kinda moving in different directions spiritually and on some other things.  I might have moved the most significantly.  I think my trans woman was trying to assert herself, although it still took a little more time for the egg to crack.     I was the one who moved out (although we had been sleeping in separate rooms for about a year).  I was satisfied to just be separated, but after a bit she filed for divorce.  I didn't contest it - our kids were all adults by then.  She remarried, I haven't.  Now her husband has died and she is back in this area.   Yeah, we are still friends, but sometimes it's hard for me if I've been around her.  I do miss her.  She uses my now name and gender for me.   I am lonely.  I think I could remarry, maybe, if I found the right person, but I don't see much chance of that.  I'm in my 70's, this is a pretty conservative area, and I am a transgender woman.  So this is how it is - at least for me.

That is am what I planning on. Take the defensive driving class after the conviction and all goes away aside from the fine I pay. My vehicle is a commercial vehicle (10,000+ pound diesel pickup truck with commercial plates), but since I exclusively use it for personal use so I do not need or have a CDL.

I seems like I am dreading going to my job more each day. So, I take it as a sign to jump ship. All the time I expect to be chastised. It is not a good way to have a job. I am on the hunt for a new one, however nothing has surfaced.   Kymmie

I'm currently on the ballot for an open US Representative seat in Portland Oregon.  Here are some of the news stories on me:   Rachel Lydia Rand on Ballotpedia: https://ballotpedia.org/Rachel_Rand#Campaign_themes KATU 2 (ABC) Know Your Candidates 2024: Rachel Lydia Rand https://www.katu.com/news/know-your-candidates/rachel-lydia-rand-d-congress-district-3 League of Women Voters Candidate Forum for US Representative https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOoS39CTEOw KOIN 6 Written Interview | top issues, what's going right https://www.koin.com/news/politics/rachel-rand-on-running-for-district-3-top-issues-whats-going-right/ League of Women Voter's Interview with Rachel Lydia Rand https://youtu.be/V5o9RKE3WVo     This is my third time running for US Rep.  Campaigning is very challenging for me because I only have two family members still alive and I've spent less than 2 weeks with them in my life and I have virtually no social network to start with and I don't belong to any social media sites.  I haven't even been able to post here and on sites like it because of rules about self-promotion.   I'm boldly saying in these videos that I want to be appointed to vice-president in the next 5 years.  My platform is about addressing climate change and everything that comes with it.  Population decline is the number one proposal I have and it is very, very scary and controversial for most people.  The way I see it is that oil is more than a fuel we burn in our cars, it's a substance we pave our roads with.  And it will run out, so at some point in the future, most of these roads are going to go away and we'll have a much harder time distributing food.  I play chromatic pennywhistle and I'm this iconic whistleblower politician saying that we will not be able to support 10 billion people at the end of the century on wind and solar power.  Even solar panels are made with oil and there isn't much difference between a wind turbine and a dam.  If we can build skyscrapers and nuclear power, then you'd think we'd be able to figure out how to make a wind turbine 100 years ago.  It's simply not as efficient.  The numbers I've crunched say that if we have one child for every two women for the next 40 years and then go back to normal replacement rate, we'll get our population down to 2 billion by 2099 which is where the world was at in 1950.  If we don't do that and stay on this current path for the projected 10 billion by 2100, then when oil runs out and climate change raises sea levels and floods coastal cities, humanity is going to be in a very uncivil situation.   I'm sorry that I'm not making a huge issue of transgender rights.  Of course I'm here to support our community.  I'd be highly visible on our national and international scene as a transwoman.  I tend to focus on engineering realities rather than these social issues.  It upsets me that people take engineering for granted.  People tend to just get in their cars and think that there will be some space age technical solution that will make it all OK.   OK, that's my rant for the day :-)  Coffee is on.  4:26am.  The ABC station is interviewing me again in a few hours and people can vote for me today.  Please consider spreading the word.  I'm only one person and it takes an incredible amount of effort to keep my political thinking and platform going.   Sincerely, Rachel Lydia Rand Jazz Musician | Software Engineer
