Good morning @lauraincolumbia the coffee is hot, black, and strong.

Like you I'm glad the conversation stayed on the lighter side of food and drink. I'm not big on nuts unless they're chocolate covered, and now there is a thread for Chocoholics going on.

The Sun is up, and it's going to be another hot August day.

Best wishes, stay positive, and safe,

Mindy???

Mmindy - it's hotter than a witch's ... here LOL but I have my first appointment with a new therapist who specializes in GD and I'm looking forward to it no matter the temp.

@Shay  Nice to meet you!  I've been around for a while but tend to lurk but occasionally comment.

Here in Maryland, they're forecasting a hot week, but hopefully, that will be the end of the eat....

Good luck with the new therapist!!!  Are you meeting in person?

@lauraincolumbia yes - pretty interesting I was looking for a new therapist with gender issues speciality and found this lady Psychologist is now working in the office of my last Psychologist that treated me for depression but when I self HRT'ed 5 years ago he still treated me for depression and told me it was ok to fantasize but not transition. But as you can imagine it only took a few years of trying to suppress it and it came roaring back as usual. I found this lady online and she suggested I contact Equitas LGBTQ health care in Columbus Ohio.... I did and am on HRT for nearly 2 months now and waiting on a waiting list from Equitas since.

Although I thought it might be ackward - I contacted her again and will meet hertoday. The office manager and my old Psychologist had great things to say about her - so I am looking forward to meeting her in about an hour. AND her office is about 5 minute drive from here.

Hopefully it is sychronicity at work. I want to fully transition and maybe I'll be able to get the 2 referral letters from the 2 pschologists in that office. Would that be SWEET.

Duh...yes I am meeting her in person....

Link to comment

Thats great!  It would be amazing if you can get both letters from that office!!

I've been wanting to see a therapist, but none in my area are taking new patients in person.    I don't know about virtual sessions with someone new.

I would do the virtual anyway if I could - I met my HRT NP that way and we hit it off just fine that way AND it saved me an hour and a hald drive one way.

Morning all,

I am looking forward to colder month's. Coffee tastes better, to me, on a cool day. I am always freezing but it is much easier to dress warm on a cool day than stay cool in a heat wave. I wear a stocking cap all the time and prefer being able to wear my tie dye thermals and such. The only downside for me is that I do not have a greenhouse yet. I need a place to enjoy some vegetation year round. I am hoping to have some avacado trees. Some fragrant butterfly arrangement and a tiny lounge for a guest or two. Just a retreat from the madness of the world. It's a personal therapy goal. Plus, I am going to try luring butterflies in so I can still enjoy them year round as well. ?

@KymmieL Touché!

Well my plan had been to go sailing today but thats not happening.  First i was late trying to leave my slip and that is a problem because the creek isn't very deep. You have to stay in the channel.  Well at 4am i was having all kinds of trouble and finally got stuck .  Maybe thats not such a bad thing, it’s pouring right now so i would be soaked.

got picked up so im not on the boat. Had my coffee after we got home. Definitely not the best day.  I still have to go back at high tide and try to get it free.

Ugh.

You all are killing me with all the chocolate talk!!! I am a recovering chocoholic as well and on a serious diet- I have only had a very thin slice of cake once in the last 3 months :(. On the other hand- I'm down 32#!

I took the weekend off from the forum and missed on on everyone's good times it seems. Way to go girls!!!!

I had a great weekend of mushroom foraging and maybe producing some 193 proof "hand sanitizer"  that in no way did I taste ;)

I came out to my ignorant brother whom I don't have a great relationship with and he was totally nonchalant about it and said he didn't care if I was trans- that's way more than I expected.  I've learned through this process to give people some credit and not discount them before telling them.

So basically, I've told everyone except my 83 year old father. That's gonna have to happen soon but will be torturous considering he's having some early dementia issues, hard of hearing and stuck in the 50s.  I even changed my name on facebook.

Hi @lauraincolumbia, looks like you are in my sister planned community. I'm in Reston so we're basically neighbors! As far as a therapist Lauraine, I just found one that has made virtual visits very comfortable and is based in Arlington and DC. I'm not sure if she is licensed in MD but I'm betting so. Her name is Stephanie Seibert, Psy.D. of Mind Body Health llc.  She is taking new clients.

Chocolate is essential!!!

Don't worry @Bri2020. We will all be on the "Now I Have To Work Off All That Chocolate" thread before long. I will take the blame for suggesting the thread. I was just an instigator which may have turned into a sweet accomplice. ?

Got the boat free and out of the creek.  It’s been storming off and on all day.  There is another one approaching now.

Well, guess I need my chocolate fix now.  So @Abi this is all your fault?   You better watch out, your going to be blamed for a run on chocolate and Yet another shortage.

Hei all,

two doctor appointments today. First was endocrinologist. She is going to keep me on estradiol despite my having had a stroke five months ago and being 70 years old. Dosage to be cut in half and longer intervals between shots. I can live with that especially since my estrogen level is 2 1/2 times the normal for a woman my age. And the second appointment was with the cardiologist. Seems the heart monitor is working and working well. In the five months since it was installed I have had four AFib episodes with the longest lasting two minutes. Apparently that is considered to be on the low side. He will NOT recommend to the endrocronologist to cease and desist. So, very grateful today. I would go out and party, but I gave up alcohol 15 years ago and ice cream is not very kind to my middle.

On another plus side, my girlfriend, who I haven't seen in 8 most., looked at my ass and commented that I was finally getting one.  ?

It's just too easy to get high E levels on injections, one must be careful. Booty boosting is a good thing...

Coffee tastes great this morning, we bought some specialty dark roast last weekend when in this Norwegian themed town, and having a first brew. Lovely weather we are having here this week, mid 70's during the day, low 50's at night, the nip of fall in the air during the mornings, the leaves are turning here.

Enjoy your day, everyone

Good morning

more rain!  At least I’m not in Laura’s path.  We’ve already had two this year.  Fortunately both were near misses.

Got notice from my doctor that all my bloodwork was in a normal range.  Not certain that’s exactly what I wanted to hear.  Normal for a cis male or normal considering I’m on hrt?  Guess I need to find out.

Have a good day.  I’ve finished my coffee for today and now I need to figure out what next.

Hi All!

I agree with some of the postings, something about coffee during the cold months that just feels right! I know the cooler months are fast approaching. After spending almost a month in Texas with temperatures >100 almost everyday..by all means, I am ready for the cool. Being back home in North Carolina this past week has been so nice. Just have not been out of the house in a week now - ready to have the strength and stamina again to walk around more than in my house! But patience....

One should never bastardize chocolate with anything else ;)

Not so fast, my spouse hides the chocolate covered caramels from me when she gets them. Probably for good reason. If I find them, they're gone.

Hugs!

Late to the coffee party. Been a busy morning. In exciting news, I have a wedding to go to!!!!! I received an invitation the other day for a friend's wedding being held at the Salamander Inn (google it) just when the leaves should be in full color mode. This will be my first social event as a woman and I'm pretty excited. Today one of my girl friends is emptying her closet of formal wear and bringing it by for me to go "dress shopping".   It's so fun to finally be "one of the girls". Now I have to learn to dance in heels- what could possibly go wrong.

Just remember the first rule of weddings: Do not, under any circumstances, upstage the bride. ?

I actually have a friend who keeps threatening to teach me to dance in heels. Personally, I think I'm tall enough but what do I know? Have a good time! Show off your moves! Just remember the first rule.

Hugs!

I had a younger cousin that was getting married several months after I came out to my immediate family.  I told them to hold the thought until after her wedding. The day should be about the bride and I didn't want the focus on me even in the smallest bit.  We we were getting ready to fly home my mother whispered in my ear that next she sees me she'll be able to call me by name.  It was a nice affirmation.   I've been to three weddings since then and they are so much more fun now!  All the women dance in heels for a few songs then they get kicked off!  Many stockings ruined but it's time to boogie!

I love fashion. I have over 100 dresses and 74 pairs of shoes. My walk-in closet is full of other clothes as well. I'm getting more shorts soon. SHEIN is awesome for quality and price. Just when you get a leather coat from them it's just the shell not the liner. Most of my shoes are from Torrid because I wear size 13 women's.

I'm sorry @Ladypcnj I can only sympathize with you on that. Therapist on the other hand is crazy. I have had 16 in 10 years. It sucks having to have to go over things. I will say though after 6 therapists I didn't have to explain my history they simply read the history.

I don't use it.   One of my daughters gave me a little to experiment with, but I haven't.  My youngest tried to put some on me once, but I din't like it.  The light was pretty bad admittedly. My ex didn't use it, and my daughters didn't use it much either when they were still at home.  (If so it was very subtle) And I don't often notice it on women my age (mid 70's)   I shave every day.  But my beard is not heavy, and essentially grey, so it's not real noticeable unless you get close with good light.  I was starting to look into electrolysis, but the pandemic hit, and I just kinda dropped it.   Sometimes I do wonder about it though.

It's something I'm just learning but I find I actually enjoy the 'craft' of it in addition to how it makes me look. Even after a fresh shave, I have a mild 5'clock shadow. For me, the primary use of makeup is to get rid of that. I'll start with the orange concealer over facial hair areas and a bit under my eyes. Liquid foundation over that and light concealer used judiciously over that (still dialing that part in). Then just a tad of powder to bring color back in certain places. There are a number of Youtube tutorials on that layering process.    I'll also pencil in my eyebrows a bit since they're blonde and otherwise not very visible. Sometimes I'll get adventurous and give mascara a try but that's a delicate skill and usually I mess it up. I don't particularly like lipstick, but just ordered a 'lip pencil' to experiment with. Hoping for a more subtle effect.

Sunday is my weekly ablution day - all of the parts that need occasional shaving get their required attention. The weather is rainy and cool today so after the ablutions and shower, I put on blue jeans, a gray t-shirt and a black front-zip hoodie along with gray sneakers.   And, I did put on make-up, not to impress anyone but just to feel as if I'm looking my best....as good as that can be given this woman is now 69 years old.

There are lots of us here willing to offer support, ideas, a shoulder or just a smile. Working with your therapist and finding your true self can be difficult process...but it will also be filled with wonder and joy as you discover that person who's been waiting inside you to be found.   Just know that you are not alone.

I don't have a huge amount of time in my life for self exploration.  My job and responsibilities have me second guessing all my inner work.  I do have time off in the summer - coming up soon as I am a teacher.  Only a few workshops.  Looking forward ward to some introspection.     :) Mealaini
