Good afternoon everyone. Today is my 69th birthday. Brought coffee ️ and cake 🎂 for you all. Before I retired 3 years ago I always brought treats to work for my birthday. No reason to stop now for my new friends. 🥰

Happy Birthday @Jamie68

I'm having a late afternoon coffee, because the weather has really turned here and the temperatures are dropping.

That’s a right Hobbity thing to do! I think they call that an ambidrone, where you turn it upside down and it still says the same thing! Happy birthday 🎂

Happy Birthday Jamie. Hope you have a great day.

Other than false ones. Anyone know how to strengthen finger nails? How's a girl to have nice pretty nail when they are breaking all the time.

The surgeon's report for my laryngochondroplasty was posted to my chart today. I pored through it eagerly relishing the details of every blade stroke, and looking up some of the medical jargon. I was feeling pretty good until I got to the part where it said "Prominent thyroid notch. Removed this to just above Montgomery's tubercle. Minimal to no prominence with skin redraping." Wait, what? I looked up Montgomery's tubercle. Dr Google says it's the goosebumps that surround the nipple on the areola! There must be two Montgomery's who were pretty hot back in the day and got a body part named after them, cuz there's no way they scraped cartilage all the way down my breastbone! LOL

I take Glucosamine daily. Also, I wear gloves when using detergents. Rub lotion or oil into the nails so don't dry out. Good luck and Happy Birthday, Jamie.

Take biotin. It also helps with hair growth and strength.  Other than that, welcome to the challenges all women face.  Growing up pretending to be men, we use our hands differently, without much care for our nails so you have decades of muscle memory to change in order to protect them.  I do acrylics because they are like Wolverine's claws- damn near unbreakable.  My nail tech gets so frustrated with me because I tell her I want them really short ( I can't get use to long nails- to restrictive). I tell her I just don't want to have to constantly "fix" them from all the work my hands tend to do without regard to my manicures lol.

She sees it as a waste. lol.  "don't you want them to be pretty" she always says.

I also like them because I use to have a habit of chewing my nails and you can't do that with acrylics. At least not easily. lol

I tell people I need to keep my nails short because I'm really, really gay. They stop asking after that.

Hugs!

Weird.

It is kind of weird. I’ve tried googling Montgomery’s tubercles in the context of the trachea but can’t find anything. There are other tubercles named after someone whose name begins with a Z. I’ll ask the surgeon next week in my postop who wrote the report!

Weird, indeed. I swear, Doctor Speak is designed to be confusing, illegible or both!

I found it fascinating to read about how they pulled this muscle aside and cauterized that thingy and tattooed something else to mark the limits and then used a #15 blade to make an incision. OHSU is a teaching hospital and they had a resident helping the surgeon. I’m not sure exactly what his role was. Maybe he wrote the report? They were both MDs. OHSU called me a couple of weeks ago and said the procedure cost $21,000 but not to worry, my copay was only $300.

Reports are dictated and then transcribed. Left over from the days where Dr's handwriting was a required course lol.  Lots of room for error with transcription

Back in January I finally succumbed to a n overwhelming urge to paint my nails and walked around the house with them for a couple of days before my middle daughter did a double take on them. Which was the launching pad for my introduction to my family as Agnes. I kept them painted for a couple of months. But then I started looking at womens hands and noticed that a great many didn’t bother to paint them or did so only for special occasions. It really is a lot of work to maintain the exterior. It’s not like I need to attract a mate or something. It’s mostly to feel pretty for myself. Aside from some big male tells like facial hair, Adam’s apple, and bushy eyebrows which can be fixed, I’m more concerned about the inner woman and feeding and nurturing her at this stage.

My secret is to keep them short.  Nails can be pretty without beig long, especially if you paint them.  I cannot stand having long nails, because I'm always in the kitchen and I hate the thought of gunk getting under my nails from food handling, or even worse: gunk from my nails getting into my food!

Happy birthday, @Jamie68!

I was told that painted nails is really bad for them. I noticed that mine were turning yellowish brown after a while. I only paint them for special occasions now.

So, I am curious. Is the Governor going to mandate vaginal or penile recognition photos before one enters the restroom? Considering the Governor has no balls to do the right thing, will he have to pee against a tree outside? Inquiring minds would like to know. I love it when the job recruiters contact me about the wonderful jobs available in Oklahoma. It is so much fun telling them there is no way I will ever go to Oklahoma. When there are no workers, then they can shutter the place.

Thank you! I'm out of coffee so I have been drinking hot tea instead. Looking forward to the 1st. It's crazy that we are almost in May. This year has flown by really quick! Good to hear that y'all got to sleep in. Hope you have a good weekend too!

It's nice to care about others but you need to live your life as you please. No one be your only source of happiness. Love yourself and don't look back. I lost over 40 family members it hurts but apparently, they didn't truly love me. True love will always be there through the thick and thin. I can honestly say that HRT has made me think in ways that I never thought I would. I get myself some shoes or clothes every month because retail therapy not only helps but it is a reward to myself to show love. I have over 100 dresses. I have a whole walk-in-closet full of clothes and 67 pairs of shoes. I love who I am. I was born in 84 so not all people in the 80's think that way. As far as the name just take your time and be happy with it. I knew I loved the name Ashley. Take care and welcome!

WOW @Ashley0616 it’s good that you have skills to treat traumatic injuries, as well as the ability to remain calm while managing others needs to get yourself and the boys ready to go to the hospital. Proud mama bear skills. I’m glad that he’s doing well.    Meanwhile back at the ranch, we slept in and I’m just now finishing my 3rd cup of coffee.    Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Well yesterday was not fun. I was getting ready to make dinner and I hear screaming and crying. I look over and my son put his foot through glass. He gashed near his Achilles tendon. Thankfully that is intact. I didn't freeze for a second. All of my military training came into play. I doctored him up and got Jett ready and myself and we headed to the ER. He is doing ok today. He says he is in pain but doesn't need Tylenol. He is a tough cookie!

Hi,   It's seems today is my trans birthday.  I'm beyond excited. Just picked up my testogel from the pharmacy. Although I naturally have doubts as I'm sure do we all, they are rapidly disappearing. Yesterday I was so nervous I kept claiming I'm not trans, despite grinning like a fool knowing I can pick up my prescription the next day. I'm shaking and on the verge of happy tears. I will put on my first sachet this eve. Thanks so much to this forum and kind words from people. This is the first forum I found when I began seriously questioning.

While the Soviet Union did not end up being the source of all evil, I believe that history has shown that Joe McCarthy generally was right. There ARE all kinds of Marxists slithering around. And if that had been dealt with firmly 75 years ago (or more) the nation wouldn't be in the shape that it's in now.    And while I generally oppose the idea of intervening in foreign affairs, the world probably would have been better off if we had taken care of issues in Russia and defeated the Bolshevik Menace back in 1919. God bless the memory of Admiral Kolchak.   Getting back to project 2025, my belief is that Republican efforts are inappropriately focused on trans folks. A minority of a minority does not wreck a nation. But it is easier to focus on trans folks because they can look like they're doing something. They don't have to address the real problems, and really they don't want to address them because they would have to address themselves.  They would also need to admit that the 50 State version of the USA cannot be saved.
