Same here. I am pretty much done with mine. I just have to use it. Which is hard when you are living two lives.

Our Advance has idiots as well. Unfortunately, we have some working for our company. luckily, not at our store.

Well for the past 2 days my wife has been upset at me. I think it is that I didn't get the Travis Tritt tickets. She may have said a half dozen words to me last night. Oh, Well. I am almost getting used to it.

Hugs,

Kymmie

Are you two still hugging, holding each other? Those two plus kissing are all that's happening with my spouse. Good luck on the surgery front. I'm not ready to commit to that yet.

Oh yeah, we are very close that way. I hope it gets better for both of us.

Thanks. Any way I look at it, it't going to be at least 1-1/2 years before surgery. I have one big issue to work out first. My wife needs around the clock care. I've got to figure a solution since there will be probably 3 weeks where I will be away recouperating. Even after that it will be difficult for a while at home.

@KymmieLif I had an O O O O’Rielly close to me, I’d happily go there.  Frankly I don’t trust this Advance Auto.  I went in there to get three 8 volt golf cart batteries.  The guy comes out with 6 volt batteries, insisting they are what I requested. When i said no i told him 8v he got indignant how do you know? Because they only have three cells, not four.  Some poor smuck that didnt know better would end up putting in 6v batteries and hitting them with a charger for 8s.

the next closest parts store is 15 miles away and i doubt i can make it that far.  Its an Advance as well but they dont hire idiots at that one

If you know what you need rockauto.com has a good selection at good prices. I'm pretty sure they're out of Rock Island Illinois.

@Elizabeth StarI'm so happy you two are working things out!

Had a great time last night meeting my "new" girl friend last night.  We had previous just randomly met at an outdoor local music thing and decided we needed to hang more so had a happy hour wine tasting "friend date' last night.  While getting to know each other it turns out we discovered that she was actually a massage client of mine close to 16 years ago!  We were totally cracking up that we hadn't made the connection because we both have "changed a bit" in the last 16 years!

@Elizabeth StarI've always said that I made my family. Growing up I wasn't close to anyone except my grandmother and brother, and my brother is also trans (didn't bother to even look that up until I came out). My grandmother automatically accepted me (but she did have to check up on the terms with my neice who lives with her and is also trans.) ((it must be genetic, lol))

Jamie, Rock auto is everywhere. and ship from everywhere and charge shipping for each piece shipped from a different warehouse. Yeah, prices are good and have a lot of stuff. but they get you on shipping. But that isn't anything new.

I went as far as only searching for stuff on Ebay with free shipping.  Most of the time.

I’ve alway found it easier to be family with people I’m not related to. There’s no pressure or expectations.

I prefer O’Riley’s over the other places. They’re always so helpful regardless of what’s going on. I’ve even had an employee help me figure out what color pinstriping to use. The other places not so much. Oh The problems I had trying get parts for an Opel.

I ordered from Rock Auto once. I got the wrong part in the right box. It was such a hassle trying to get it sorted out. They eventually sent me the right one at no charge and keep the other one but still a hassle. Apparently they’ve never ever sold anything in an open box.

That sucks. I've used them 3 times now without any problem. I've gotten the wrong parts from Auto Zone and Napa before.

We have 5 different auto supply stores in our town of 12,000 people. I don't know how they can all stay in business. I haven't tried Ebay for auto parts before. I will have to check them out. I've had real good luck with machinery parts, new, used, even new out of production parts from Ebay.

Hi friends

first, I want to go have the charging system checked so I know which is bad, the alternator or the battery.  Then I figure out where I’m buying the part.  Battery, Walmart, Alternator different story.

So I already looked at Rock auto, show only parts that fit my vehicle, I got every alternator possible. Some actually had the right frame, but most didn’t.  Similar but not as bad on Advanced Auto.  Just higher prices.  At least if it’s wrong I can take it back if I but local.  I’ve also considered just taking it somewhere and let them deal with it.  I had enough fun with that car when the balancer/timing wheel came apart. That was not fun to get off and on as well as replacing the sensor.  (Which came from Rock Auto, by the way).

I’m dealing with a migraine second day in a row.  Not fun.  Today should be my estrogen injection but I’ll delay a day.  Then again, I suppose that could be the problem.

hugs

Willow

and turn out the light, I’ve got a headache!  lol

Got car problems myself.

Battery dead again, and doesn't seem to be taking a charge this time.

I should have got it checked the last time.  But it charged up, and everything was fine for a couple days.

Oh Poo.

If I get it crunk, I'll take it over.  If not, try to get a new battery.  I hope it is the battery, that would be expensive, but easy.

My daughter is coming over later to give me a ride if I need it.

Running a battery down damages it.  If the battery has been run down to dead, it will never recover completely.  If it has been run down more than once, you need to replace it.  A charger might (or might not) get the voltage back up to where it belongs, but it will never hold a full charge, and might not have enough to start.

Certainly the situation.

Got it started eventually and took it to Advance Auto.    They said it just needed charging, but I'm not that dumb.  (Doing the same thing and expecting different results).

I just replaced it.  It was old anyway.

There were 3 guys and a woman working there.  The woman was the one that served me.  A guy was the one who actually made the swap tho.  Of course he was doing it wrong until I said something.

As a trans woman it is much easier and pleasanter to interact with women.

At least the guy did "ma'am" me.

If you have a volt meter, it should be readind somewhere between 13 and 15 volts while running. Check it on the battery posts and also just on the connectors. That would let you know if the alternator is pytting out and wether or not it's justy a dirty connector. Dam, I feel like i just "man splained it". If so, i'm sory.

My meter has gotten lost in the shuffle, but I knew the alternator was working from the "charged" light on my charger.

The battery was like 6yrs old, and not a top of the line one at that.

If it won't crank in the morning, I might set it on fire….

No.  I need it.

I feel like I'm in the middle of another impossible decision.  My SO had a heart attach so I took a week off of work to care for her.  Then this Friday the CDC comes out with their latest guidelines.  Now I'm scared all over again of bringing home the virus and killing her.  I quit my job lat March for a year until we got vaccinated.  Now the vaccinations are not as good against the Delta variant.  Do I go back to work, wear a mask, and take my chances with unvaccinated people?  Or do I just take a chance with both my and my partners health and like.  I want to go back to work.  I gives me a purpose in life and keeps me from drinking too much.  Just to make life more interesting I'm 2 months into HRT and starting to show.  I'm pretty sure I can hide it because I' m not ready to cross that bridge.

I'm assuming that working from home isn't an option?

I'd talk to my doctor. There's evidence that a 3rd hit of the vaccine is effective in increasing immunity to the Delta variant, but as with all vaccines, it's not 100%. If your partner is immuno-compromised... staying home is probably your best bet to keep her safe.

Thank the Goddess, it finally happened. Today’s my Saturday to work. The owner came in and was showing one of our vendors around. Of course he had to come into and show the guy around our service department. As always I was introduced as Elizabeth but where things have improved was what came next. He usually follows my initial introduction with “when Liz was dead name….” .  This time, as I cringed and waited for it, he didn’t do it. Instead he opted to say “in another life Liz used to…..” and went on to explain the different departments I worked in. I really needed that little extra affirming boost today. The vendor and I quick conversation about how popular the mane Elizabeth is. His daughter and mother are also Elizabeth’s.

That's fantastic @Elizabeth Star! I was cringing RIGHT along with you while you were telling that. I'm JUST getting to the point where hearing my deadname doesn't make my shoulders tense up. I'm glad your boss is getting with the program and learning not to make you uncomfortable.

Hugs!

I have read numerous accounts of trans folk no longer being welcome among evangelicals.   I am here for help and fellowship not to rebuke anyone.  I can take a pretty high degree of insult, etc., and you haven't insulted me, to my recollection anyway :) and I usually let it go.  But I thought I would let it all out there.   I am sure I disagree with you on numerous issues.  I appreciate other people's viewpoints, including those who radically disagree with me.  Intellectual challenge is good. One thing I appreciate about @MaeBe.

Post 8 “The Ohio Years” We moved to Pittsburgh because of the job with US Airways.  The job involved classroom instruction and simulator training, but no actual flying, so I kept looking for an actual pilot position.  A year after signing on with US Airways I got hired to fly business jets.  The company was located in Cleveland, Ohio, but I was flown commercially from my home in Pittsburgh to where my aircraft was located, making it unnecessary to live near company headquarters.    My flight scheduled consisted of eight days on duty with seven days off.  Having seven days off in a row was great but being gone from home eight days in a row was difficult.  For the first few years the flying was fun, but after a while the eight flying days in a row, were taking their toll on me.  Those days were brutal, consisting of very long hours and a lot of flying time.  Usually, I came home exhausted and need three days just to recover from the work week.  Flying for a living is glamorous until you actually do it.  Quickly, it became just a job.    After five years as a line captain, I became a flight department manager, which required we live near company headquarters.  That meant a move to Cleveland.  Working in the office meant I was home every night but as a manager, the schedule was still challenging.  I would work in the office all week and then be expected to go out and fly the line on weekends.  I referred to it as my “5 on 2 on” schedule, because it felt as though I had no time off at all.   About the same time, we moved to Cleveland, my wife and I became “empty nesters,” with one son in the military and the other away at college.  Sadly, my work schedule didn’t leave much time for Sally.  Add to the fact that while Cleveland is an awesome city, I just never felt comfortable expressing my feminine side.  Most of my outings, and believe me there weren’t enough, occurred while I was on vacation and away from home.   One of the most memorable outings occurred over a long weekend.  I had stumbled across an online notice for a spring formal being held in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, hosted by a local trans group there.  I reached out to Willa to see if she was up for an excellent adventure.  She was, so I picked her up and we drove to Harrisburg together.    The formal was held on Saturday evening and we had the absolute best time.  It turned out that organizers were a group named TransCentralPA.  Everyone was wonderful and I made a lot of new friends that evening.  We learned the spring formal was one of the group’s annual events but for the following year, instead of a spring formal, the group wanted to do a local transgender conference.  That local conference would become the Keystone Conference, and I would attend every year for the next 12.  My move to the west coast was the only reason I stopped attending annually.  I went to the first annual Keystone Conference as an attendee, but in subsequent years I served as a volunteer and as a workshop presenter; more about those in the next installment.   For my Cleveland years, the Keystone Conference would be my major outlet for feminine self-expression.  Yes, I did get out on other occasions, but they were too infrequent.  The managerial job just didn’t allow me the freedom I needed to adequately live my feminine life, and my frustration level was slowly, but steadily on the rise.  It amazed me how adversely not being able to express the feminine half of my personality was affecting my happiness.   However, a major life change was upcoming, and while it would prove to be a significant challenge in many ways, the events would ultimately benefit my female persona.  First, my mom and dad got sick.  They were in and out of the hospital and required personal care.  My wife and I did our best but living in Cleveland, we were too far from them to give them the support they both needed.  Second, I was experiencing serious job burn out.  I decided I need to find another job and I needed to be closer to my parents.    Things changed for the better when I got hired by an aviation training company as a flight simulator instructor.  I would be training business jet pilots.  The training facility was located in New Jersey, which put us much closer to my parents, and the work schedule was much better for quality of life.  Most importantly, this life change would help Sally re-emerge and once again flower.    Hugs,   Sally

I made a living talking about bulk liquids in cargo tanks transportation as a driver and mechanic. Safe loading/unloading, cleaning and inspecting, as well as emergency response scenarios.   Hazmat and fire behavior in the fire service as well as emergency vehicle operations and safe driving. "It was on fire when they called you. It will be on fire when you get there." Arrive ready to work. I could also talk about firefighter behavioral  heath and the grieving process.   The real fun thing is I can do this for people who are not Truck Drivers or Fire Fighters. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Citizen Tax payers about Public Safety Education.   I love public speaking,   Mindy🌈🐛🏳️‍⚧️🦋

Got a new Granddaughter this morning.  Mother and child (and father) are doing fine. This makes 7 granddaughters and one grandson.  I have 2 sons and 6 daughters myself.  And then I  switched teams.  I think this stuff runs in the family. Another hard day for the patriarchy.

Like @MaeBe pointed out, Trump won't do these things personally.  I doubt that he actually gives a rat's a$$ himself.  But he is the foot in the door for the others.   I don't really see this.  Personally, I am all in favor of "traditional" families.  I raised my own kids this way and it can work fine.  But I think we need to allow for other variations as well.   One thing working against this now is how hard it is for a single breadwinner to support a family.  Many people (I know some) would prefer "traditional" if they could actually afford it.  Like I mentioned, we raised our family with this model, but we were always right at the poverty level.   I was a "conservative evangelical" for most of my life, actually.  So I do understand this.  Admittedly, I no longer consider myself one. I have family members still in this camp.  Some tolerate me, one actually rejects me.  I assure you the rejection is on her side, not mine.  But, I understand she believes what she is doing is right - 'sa pity though. I mean no insult toward anyone on this forum.  You're free to disagree with me.  Many people do.   This is a pretty complex one.  Socialism takes many forms, many of which we accept without even realizing it.  "Classism" does exist, for what it's worth.  Always has, probably always will.  But I don't feel like that is a subject for this forum.   As for the election, it's shaping up to be another one of those "hold your nose" deals.

I was thinking in particular of BLM, who years ago had a 'What We Believe' section that sounded like they were at war with the nuclear family.   I tried to find it. Nope.  Of interest https://www.politifact.com/article/2020/aug/28/ask-politifact-does-black-lives-matter-aim-destroy/   My time is limited and I will try to answer as I can.

Well, I suppose it is possible that they don't actually plan on doing what they say.  I'm not too sure I want to take that chance.  But I kinda expect to find out.  Yet, perhaps you're right and it's all just talk.  And anyway, my state GOP is giving me enough to worry about anyway. I remember a time when being "woke" just meant you were paying attention.  Now it means you are the antichrist. I just don't want the government "protecting" me from my personal "delusions."
