I can't take credit for not freaking out being visited by the sheriff deputies while in a dress. My wife and I are well known and respected here. Hey, I'm not the fool you see here.

I kept Linda out of town at my wife's request. 3 years ago she retires, she comes home after her send off party and tells me.

I told all my friends about you, showed them pictures.

So who are her friends? I don't think I need to tell, you all can guess.

Well naturally. I can THINK on E. On T... not so much.

Busy week, first for all you bikers, it’s Myrtle Beach fall bike week. We happen to be spending a couple nights off the boat in a hotel near one of 5he main biker bars in the area.  Somewhat noisy.  Why are we here? Well, once a week we try to spend a night off the boat, that was last night.  I have an appointment this afternoon for blood work.  we will see what T and E numbers show after a month without taking them.

Then we added a day because I made an appointment for tomorrow to see my orthopedist.  I think I may have fractured my leg a couple days ago.  Both are close to this hotel.  If you are wondering not a displaced or compound fracture but one that hurts like hockey sticks, especially when walking the dog and she is pulling on her lead.  Any Forward pressure on my shin.

I am wearing coffee today. Here’s why…

I have been studying the Giant Schnauzer (GS) propensity to bark at things that move, things that make noise, things that do one or the other, and things that do both. Having owned dogs for nearly 60 years it’s my considered opinion that the GS is unique in the speed with which it can come from the prone position, do a one and a half gainer to a full erect standing posture, issue multiple exhalations from the diaphragm past the lanynx, pharynx and vocal cords reaching in excess of 100 decibels and continuing to increase the decibel level until the triggering noise or movement abates or a treat is offered.

I am calling this phenomenon the Sergeant Schnauzer syndrome or SSS for short. The SSS is best compared to a police protocol. After all the GS is frequently deployed as a guard dog. The protocol can be characterized similar to the way any anomaly is recorded on a police report.

For instance there are infractions and violations. Infractions are minor. Violations are serious.

There are both moving and non-moving infractions and violations.

The response to audible infractions or violations increase in decibel level in direct proportion to the decibel level of the infraction or violation.

For instance, a knock on the door is a non moving violation with a high auditory component and elicits a maximum response especially when the GS is surprised and has not been warned in advance, even though the movement component is obscured by a non permeable surface like a door.

A UPS truck similarly can elicit the maximum response level when the the audible component of the heavier engine is accompanied by visual confirmation through a translucent surface like a window. The effect is heightened by the auditory accompanying footsteps even though motion of footsteps is not observed through an opaque surface like door.

These are both examples of serious violations of the SSS canine protocols.

An example of an infraction eliciting a lower response in the 50 to 100 decibel range includes accidentally putting a coffee cup down on the table when the GS is in another room. Test show that the decibel level in the GS response is correlated with the volume of coffee in the cup. It is supposed and yet to be proven that a full capacity cup of coffee makes a deeper tone and is not as easily distinguishable from a knock on a wooden door.

A corollary to the coffee cup theory is being investigated. This includes both the volume and temperature of the coffee and the proximity of the cup to the GS owners lap when a UPS truck drives by the house. It has been observed that this elicits a decibel level from the GS owner that exceeds that of the GS, though this is purely anecdotal and is difficult to repeat in any scientifically or statistically meaningful manner. When this happens, the vehicular moving violation is overruled and canine detention is immediately enforced.

@AgnesBardsie LOL! If you decide to conduct a study, I hope the human participant(s) will be provided PPE (personal protective equipment) that is both safe and satisfactory in proportion to the temperature of the coffee, and also such that it will not introduce any unwanted disruptive variable to the experiment.

Yeah, well, ahem! To be complete, the study should also report conclusions on the decibel levels generated by varying sex and gender, too!

You know, I wasn't going to question them. They've been raising butterflies longer than I have. I mean I love the butterfly house at the zoo (though my heart stops every time I see a little kid in there), but I don't raise them.

Anyway, I was curious once you brought it up and:

The male monarch butterfly has a black spot on each hind wing that is made up of specialized scales. In other butterflies, similar spots emit pheromones to attract females, but scientists are not sure what function these spots serve for monarch males. These black dots are an excellent 'male marker' for sexing purposes.

Neat, right? I wish @Vidanjali's butter-baby all the luck as she explores her new world.

You know, now that I think about it, I probably could have googled it too! LOL

i was just “streaming my conscious” with my thumb at the time and hit send!

anywhoo, I just love learning little factoids of life, science and nature. There seems to be an inexhaustible supply of them!

Quite so! This makes it easy to determine the sex of the monarch. The butterfly that hatched a few days ago was a boy, but you can't really tell from the picture I posted because his wings are closed. For other species there are different markers, but for some, the sexes are practically indistinguishable by sight unless you see them "in action" (yes, sometimes there's a lot of action in the garden! ?) or actually laying eggs.

Yes! The best way to challenge others to expand their paradigm is to be yourself and live your life. Apologizing and explaining/justifying yourself (not to be confused with a concerted effort to educate and advocate) enables others' ignorance.

Thanks for the butterfly trivia!  These are those little tidbits of info that I whip out casually in conversations and people think I'm some sort of genius. lol. I can't remember how to multiply have the time but give me a little piece of arcane knowledge I read once 20 years ago and bam- i can pull it out of my brain no problem.  My ex is always amazed I can't remember where I put my keys but I can remember -crap- like this ;)

Maybe it has something to do with filling up long term memory (hard drive space) over a lifetime vs short term memory capacity (CPU) memory? I imagine there’s a finite number of synapses in the brain and once they’re clogged up with old memories, where do you put the new stuff? LOL

In my case though my long term memory is more like mag tape or a deck of punched cards! I have to start at the beginning to unwind the full story! LOL

These are my basement cats. Ginger and Fuzzy. Ginger is the mother, a minx cat, no tail. Fuzzy is well just Fuzzy, he is male.

They are mother and son, I've got Ginger trained, but Fuzzy is a cat with his own idea's of being trained.

I'll show pictures of my house dogs at a later time. ( both cats got shots and fixed)

Well, that's another sign that things are at least getting back to where they were before The Summer of Sadness.

@RhondaS That is great to hear. I am not even sure my wife even knows what a pedicure is. let along wanting to get one. Both of us getting one together. Ha.

Anyone know of a temporary cloning device. I need to make a couple clones, so I can get some work done. not only at home but at work too. I think 6 would do nicely.

In my case, at almost 9 months, most changes have been very subtle. I was 60 when I started, and overweight. Also, I am not very observant when it comes to changes. In the last 3 months I have been on T blockers and breast growth have definitely started having suffered irregular "ouchies", but at the same time I have been slowly losing fat, so Bust measurements have not changed. What has changed in the density, I can feel a difference. Face wise the skin feels softer, and my lashes seem to be more visible. Head hair regrowth is a maybe- maybe not situation.  I do have to select men's clothing carefully to camouflage the change in breast shape. I guess I'm still at the not passable as a female stage especially with no makeup. I'm also over 6 foot and well over 100kgs which I guess is problematic to start with!   Hope this helps somewhat   Kate .

I started feminizing HRT about 6-7 weeks ago. I began with what I called the beginner's patch. I immediately found myself wanting to level up to the next dose and did that this week (yay!). So far, I am enjoying the ride.   I've read everything I can find on this topic. For the HRT vets on here, what is reasonable to expect in terms of physical changes for someone starting in their 50s? I know "your mileage may vary." I guess I am curious if I stay on my current trajectory for six months, a year, multiple years, how pronounced will the physical changes be? Will I reach a point where it is totally obvious or will I land in a "middle zone" somewhere in which I could pass either way?   Thanks! Like I said I am enjoying the ride so far and always curious to know others' experiences. Not sure anyone else in my life will be excited about these moves I am making, but I have been over that in many places on here already so need to rehash... Love and blessings to all!   Easy

Being admitted into the hospital after a long ER visit. I started passing lots of blood and they are keeping me for observation.    Nurse came in to see about a condom catheter, that of course doesn't work on me. 🤣   She said, "I guess we will use incontinence supplies on you."

Yeah.  I think this is what it is about.  Since they are not transgender, nobody else could possibly be either.  I'm not sure that a cisgender person can understand being transgender.  But that hardly means that a transgender person's experience is not real - just because it is not theirs. Why is a transgendered person's experience not valid, while a cisgendered person's is?  Why should it be the cisgendered person that decides? Nobody is forcing a cis person to transition.  What I do for myself is my own business.

I've been thinking it is a matter of belief.  They simply do not believe someone can validly be transgender and should not be allowed to practice their beliefs, but should be forced to practice their belief, that is, that there is no such thing as transgender and it is all mental illness/sin/hormonal imbalance.
    • KatieSC
I am really kind of sick of everybody who is not transgender deciding on what we need and do not need in the way of procedures. They act like all of this is play acting, and we can just apply cosmetics to our entire body. It might be refreshing if someone asked us directly what services we need in order to transition. I could say more as I am frustrated, but I do not want to violate the TOS.
