My 40th is next year. I would love to go as Kymmie. However, it probably be as they knew me in school. Or didn't know me. I was just a nobody from the autoshop. Maybe if I still had my car from when I was in high school people would then know me.

Hugs,

Kymmie

Sweetie, after two years of transitioning, people who stood up at my wedding didn't recognize me. Good times.

Hugs!

I intend to attend, and I will legally be Hannah by then.

That's great!

Look what quarantine, and isolation allowed me to do.

A woman never tells her true age. So you'll be 39 and holding.

Happy early Birthday,

Happy Independence Day. July 4th is an even bigger holiday for me though. 7/4/2020 my egg cracked and I went "ah -expletive-, I think I'm transgender". 3 weeks later and a lot of anxiety, fear and struggle, I came out to my wife. I received unconditional support for who I was. Over the next week we talked about how I should proceed and after talking it over with my clinic manager to see how the employees might react and or affect biz, I came out full time. So even though this country goes to -crap- more and more every year and I have a harder time celebrating its birthday, I celebrate this day for allowing me to shed the constructs and shame I was living with for 54 years. Happy Egg cracking day to me!

Good morning and happy 4th of July

Thank you everyone for the comments about my “Our daughter” comment.  I am pretty sure the people we’ve met look at us as a couple and lesbian.  One couple introduced themselves to us as such.  We are finding lots of nice people here. My wife worked into a group of women in the pool yesterday.  I was happy for her at that.  She needs friends.

She doesn’t like being thought of as a lesbian couple.  I think she gives others too much credit for the slight mistakes.  We are talking about people who are our age and older.  And they don’t seem to care.

High school reunions and high school friends and coming out.  The last reunion I attended was our 45.  Next year would be my 55th.  Like you say, if I were to go which is unlikely, but not impossible.  Many of my classmates do know about me.  I have refriended them on Facebook and they are all fine with it.  I have never gone to a college homecoming.  And I don’t keep up with any of my military friends.  My best friend from the Air Force died some years ago.

Well, I need to get moving.  I’ve had my coffee and breakfast.  Time to shower and get dressed.

Hugs

I've never been to a reunion.  My family moved to another state for my senior year.  I was an outsider and don't even know anyone from there now.

I suppose I was traumatized by it, but meh.

I went to a different school senior year too (same state though). I hated the new school, although I was never particularly happy with the old one either. There's no way in Hades I'd ever go to a reunion for either one. No one at the second school I really knew (lots of kleptos, too), and no one at the first school I would ever want to see again.

Good morning, everyone.
I haven't been on here in a long time but I am finally back!

Right now I just finished my ice coffee and working on some assignments.
I hope everyone is doing well! 😁

Hi,

we are having a natural fireworks this afternoon.  Not particularly colorful but very loud and bright.

I finally found my new truck. The Ford Maverick Hybrid. I haven't been able to locate one for months but was able to snag this before someone else did. I've been wishing someone would come out with a hybrid suburban style truck for years. Not a monstrosity like the F150 lightning.  Ford did, but then with computer chip shortages you couldn't get find one.  You had to have pre-ordered them. Well, someone bought this, put 1000 miles on it and sold it back to the dealership for a profit. The original MSRP which dealers had to honor when they took the preorder was only $26k for a base model. This was more like a $31k model.  Now you can't get them for under $40k.  Still, a new hybrid truck with most of the bells and whistles for $40k is a deal in my book.  It gets an average of 42mpg and they didn't lie about that. I reset the thing and on my 95% highway trip home I got 41mpg. I reset it again and drove across town and back tonight which is non stop lights at every intersection and I got 47 mpg.  They have tiny four and half foot beds but they are real beds with tie down rails and anchor points. Perfect for me who just needs to throw signs in the back or the occasional home depot trip. Gone are my days of needing payloads and towing capacity.

Funny thing is i owned the original Maverick- a 1972 4 door sedan similar to the one below.  It was a pile of junk and probably my worst car ever.

How was everyone's 4th of July weekend? We didn't watch fireworks, but we did BBQ some burgers and weenies. :)

I'm hoping this week goes well. I've been feeling kind of ostracized from the people around me lately. Then again, that's not much new. I've always had an issue connecting to others. I blame trauma. I'm in therapy for it, though. It's rough work, but it has to be done. I just hope this feeling of "offness" goes away in due time. It's really messing with me.

Well for the 4th I took the day off. (cough-cough) Took a ride. Originally planned on breakfast in a little town, Saratoga. on the other side of the snowy range. They were closed. then we headed to Sinclair. To another restaurant, they were closed. then one other they were closed. Wound up going to Denny's. rode through rain. but all in all had a good day.

Friday we ride to Denver to Ball Arena. to see, Loverboy, Styx and REO Speedwagon.  Looking forward to it.

Hugs,
Kymmie

Hybrid user pro-tip: Keep it to 65 and under on the highway. You'll get there slower, but you'll also get about 10-20% better mileage. Sounds like 10 for you. Rhonda goes from 41 mpg to 50 mpg because she's a little trooper.

Mixed. I worked. I have my wife an excellent birthday. My aunt and uncle were involved in a wreck. My uncle is bruised up, my aunt is in the hospital and my aunt's mother was killed on impact. On a personal note, when I offered to help out, they immediately refused. I guess they're not as comfortable with me as I thought.

Good afternoon from central Indiana,

We had a great Independence Day Weekend. My wife and I are Fireworks Junkies, and split our viewings between two favorites, and another small town show. By far the best Fireworks Show Ever, is in our City of Westfield, IN. They've really gone all out for this event called #WestfieldRocksThe4th.

I'm glad you're in therapy, and understand that it's necessary. That being said, it's also not a quick fix, and takes time. Don't give up, you're worth the time, and effort to see yourself through.

Best wishes, stay positive, and safe,

Hi everyone

How was my 4th, wet and noisy.  I saw at least one cloud to ground strike the as very close to me.  I guess someone was upset with the congregation.  It hit a church and started a fire.  Must be ultra conservatives, anti LGBTQI and anti womens rights.  I realize that statement isn’t particularly Christian either but I’m tired of this.  All we want are the same things every one else wants.  Why can’t we?  And are they trying to set women back 150 years or more?

ok rant over.  Went to the county offices to prove residency for the purpose of getting our homestead rate on our taxes.  SC has a three tiered real estate tax system.  One rate for non-resident owners or part-time residents.  A second lower rate for full time residents, and a third tier for over 65 full time residents.  The homestead rate seems to be handled differently from county to county.  Then we went to look for taller stools to eat at our counter, lights for our bedside.  And lastly we stopped at the bank no matter what I tried I couldn’t change our mailing address on the website.  Turns out it doesn’t accept key words “unit”, # or similar.  Turns out it does accept the word “number”. Who would have figured that out sine the only thing you get is bad format for US Post Office.

Hope everyone had a great 4th if you are on this side of the pond.

Good morning

pot of coffee was made today.  We’ve been experimenting with coffee scoops to figure out what’s best.  More thunderstorms expected today and tomorrow.  I’m supposed to be getting my windshield replaced today but I’m pretty sure they won’t do it if there is rain in the forecast.  Last time we went to Charleston we got hit by a baseball size rock.

it’s already pretty humid and a cloud cover is moving in.  The feels like high is supposed to be 105-110 degrees.  Put that on your fenceometer @KymmieL.  lol

might just have to spend some time in the pool until the storm comes.

every day we make a little more progress getting our things here and put away.  We don’t have far to go.  Everything is within walking distance.

Our next holiday isn’t until September but I am looking forward to it.  Our oldest granddaughter is coming for a visit.  Even though she earned the right to be in National Honor Society she chose to decline.  She said she did not intend to go to college.  Funny thing, as an elective she took a welding class.  She really enjoyed it so now she is going to her local community college to take a certified welder program. I will say they make good money, certainly more than most college graduates do.  Don’t get me wrong college graduates do eventually make more but it takes a long time until the break even.  I say go for it!  If it makes you happy and puts food on the table, a roof over your head and turns on the lights it’s a good career.

if she happened to move here there is a boat building company that is always looking for skilled tradesmen and has great benefits.  But I don’t imagine she will since all her friends are in Virginia.

well the coffee could use a reheat and the clouds are clearing.  Guess I’ll get some more coffee.

talk to everyone later.

Hugs

Good on her.

I've mentioned before that one of my daughters is a mechanic.  It's good to see some of these gender barriers getting broken down.

I'm craving something hot and soupy this morning. Not necessarily soup, but maybe ramen or chili? I don't know. Somebody is cooking something in the office kitchen that smells really good lol.

My FtM kit from Etsy came in the mail the other day and in it was a small trans flag. I'm tempted to hang it up in my office, but I just know one of the older people I work with will see it and start trouble with me...if he even knows what the trans flag is. So for now, until I'm comfortable coming out, it's staying in my desk drawer.

Here is where the expectation is that the stereotypical evangelical comes in finger wagging, disapproving and condemning.    Not gonna do that.   You have to work these things out.  Transgender issues put a whole different spin on everything and God understands what we are going through. I have enough trouble over here.  :)
    • Ivy
You do you. You seem to be in a safe place if we end up with a 2025 situation.  But a lot of us are not.
    • awkward-yet-sweet
Well, my marriage is different.  I'm actually part of a multi-partner marriage.  Like you see in the Book of Genesis.  My husband has four wives...and me.  I was kind of an accident, as our community sets the "reasonable maximum" at four wives, but that's a long story.  Plural marriage is approved in my faith community, with the exception of spiritual leaders, as described in 1 Timothy 3.  We believe that anything that isn't specifically prohibited is permitted.    The purpose of marriage is for people to work together, demonstrate the love of God, and to have children.  My faith believes in exponential reproduction - big families with lots of kids, both as a blessing and with the intention of using the size of our population for political ends.  Being intersex/trans and unable to bear children, I wouldn't have been a good candidate to be somebody's only spouse (the majority of our community tends toward traditional couple marriage).  Since my husband has other partners, I don't have to worry about the childbearing aspect, and I help out with raising our family's kids.  I'm a "bonus parent."    I'm not 100% open about my intersex/trans nature, although my community's leaders are aware of me.  Being transgender isn't condemned, but it is seen as a health problem derived from an imperfect, fallen world and an environment polluted with chemicals.  Since I'm married, I have a safe place to be, and I can live how I need to live.    I firmly believe the advice given in 1 Corinthians 7.  We don't totally own our bodies.  God gets a say, as I believe He created us to be male or female, not something outside the binary.  I don't think that transition without discussion with partners is OK....again, we don't totally own ourselves.  When I started to figure myself out, that was actually the main thing on my mind - will my partners accept me?  How will my position in the family change?  Since my partners don't really have a problem with the mild version of transition that I wanted to do, it has all been good.
    • awkward-yet-sweet
Indeed.  While it seems like the majority of LGBTQ+ folks vote for Democrat candidates, not everybody drinks the Kool-Aid.  I'm a registered Independent, since I vote for individuals rather than party.  One of my trans friends is very pro-Trump - wears her MAGA hat and everything.  I find it interesting to see the reactions she gets... folks aren't always as tolerant as they claim to be.  Even on this forum, you get some real flak from Democrat voters....many will insist that the California way is the only way.    In my opinion, "Project 2025" isn't the real problem.  Check out UN "Agenda 2030."
    • awkward-yet-sweet
While Biden may be more friendly to trans folks, I'm not a single-issue voter.  I just can't choose a Democrat candidate, as I believe their actions will destroy my community and way of life.  Biden just announced that he wants to significantly increase capital gains taxes.  Maybe he intends to "tax the rich" but that is going to affect everything from land sales to grocery prices to the cost of electricity and even folks' retirement savings, as most companies make a large amount of their profits through investing in the market.  It is absolute lunacy to think that increased cost or reduced profits won't be passed on to the rest of us.  Things are going to get way worse at this rate.    Mostly, I vote in elections for state and local issues, as the national government is about as pleasant as a Porta-Potty in July.  So, either I'll do a write-in vote for president, or I'll check the box for Trump.  Anything but Biden.
    • awkward-yet-sweet
Interesting...never knew any of this.  Of course, in my girl form I never got breasts, so I never had to worry about it.  A couple of pieces of tape would have been sufficient...      Sounds like fun   It has been interesting for me since I stopped trying to do sex like a girl.  The real surprise was my relationship with my husband, as he has figured me out pretty well.

They were sitting on the love seat, looking west out over Kansas.  Below them the busy city ran to and fro.   "They called.  My surgery has been rescheduled for May 8.  I need to be there at 5 AM for pre-op.  I start prescriptions and diet change on May 1."   "Okay."  Bob did his not-thinking-about anything look.  Taylor was always amazed that he could  actually be thinking about absolutely nothing. She was always thinking of at least six things.   "How can they be like that?" "What?"  He startled a little.  Contact with reality was reestablished. "Where does the hate come from?  Mrs. McArthur?  She was always polite, but I think she wasn't really.  Somehow she hated me even though there were no indications whatsoever." "Yeah, well, you know they are starting up that plant.  And my company is going ahead with their work there, down n Milliville.   I will have to go down there sometimes." "Oh, Bob." "Maybe I will stop by and ask her." "No." "No.  Cabaret is closed, I have been told.  Your transgender support group has scattered to other places." "What is wrong with those people?" "Same thing as Roosevelt, I guess.  You know all the racial comments against Blacks?  Like that game where our cheerleaders started this insulting cheer, an the opposite team was mostly Black? Teachers stopped it." "I didn't know.  I was staying away from that, remember?" "Yes." "You know all those kids at our church, the ones you called freaks the other day?" "I shouldn't have called them that." "Pastor tells me they are all from all over the Midwest.  These are kids who have been thrown out of their homes and were found on the street.  Other shelters would not take them, so they wound up here." "Not surprising." "I think we could do some good here." "What do you have in mind?" And she told him.

You are spot on here ... but also it seems like such a rigged game for the average person that it's hard to invest energy into the political arena -- too much big money controlling too many people/organizations/narratives for the common person to fee; heard...   In general, why we in America accept either candidate is baffling... for all our innovation as a nation, we can't do better than these two bozos?    The problem is, the political arena is such a sham -- again with large money controlling all aspects of the system -- that a common-sense, love-your-neighbor, make-reasonable-compromises, roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-to-work candidate will never make it anywhere above the local level (if even there)...    Everything is a reality show, and boring ol' decision makers that try to benefit the most people don't generate enough clicks, views and retweets...  I am not sure it is so much about celebrity as it is about party politics at all costs - "my side must always be viewed as right and your side must always be viewed as wrong!" kind of thinking... there is no consensus building anymore because that will get used against you in campaign ads... When Obama took office and then Hilary ran again, it was like all Republicans want to do was to find someone loud enough to put them in their place. Forget issues, forget character, just win a debate and rally the base.    To get back to your original point, not enough of us care about politics ... and in some ways we've become fat, happy and entitled as a nation. The yearning to achieve the "American dream", which drove my parents and their parents before them to work their tails off and sacrifice and save, is now just "give me the American dream for free while I sit here on my phone and watch tiktok..."

Oh, another comment.   I am a conservative evangelical with strong Republican leanings. So is my wife, my friends, my family. I disagree with a good amount of what the Republicans are doing, but there it is.  I understand the mindset, I think, a lot better than those who are outside it do.   When you insult Republicans you insult me, my friends, my family.   People like me can struggle with trans issues.   Please consider that in posting.
    • Abigail Genevieve
      Then you are in despair.

I found this as well. No playacting, they just appear: the finger waggle wave; bracing my elbow on my other arm that's folded across my chest, wrist in the air half-cocked; walking a bit more fiercely... All that. My wife thought I was mocking her at one point!
    • Abigail Genevieve
I find my lack of time to read the thing frustrating, and I will not really comment until I have read it.  This is a wholly inadequate response.   1.  I think there are some legitimate concern.   2. Thoroughly discussing this will consume many threads.   3. I disagree partially with @MaeBe but there is partial agreement.   4. The context includes what is happening in society that the authors are observing.  It is not an isolated document.   5. Trump, if elected, is as likely to spend his energies going after political opponents as he is to implementing something like this.    6. I reject critical theory, which is based on Marxism.  Marxism has never worked and never will.  Critical theory has problems which would need time to go into, which I do not have.   7. There are groups who have declared war on the nuclear family as problematically patriarchal, and a lot of other terms. They are easy to find on the internet.  This document is reacting to that (see #4 above).   8.  Much of this would have to be legislated, and this is a policy documented.  Implementation would  be most likely different, but that does not mean criticism is unwarranted.
