I have someone that has done it walking me through it.

You can get the forms online.

I don't know if she was trying to mess with me (I doubt it) or just unfamiliar with the process.  I doubt that many do it in this county.

@Robin.C and @Jandi, I feel for you both. It’s so frustrating when something that could’ve been made to be such a simple process has been poorly thought out, designed and implemented.

Six weeks ago, I had my purse stolen and a lot of other important things (long story). Everything (CC’s, Gift Cards, DL, Misc ID’s, Car Key Fob, etc..) was replaced within a week with the exception of my Federal Passport Card (not my PP book). I won’t get into the gory details of replacement here but let me tell you that the online replacement process and wait times are abysmal at best. I ended up have to pay the full amount for the card replacement and a $35 processing fee to boot. To make matters worse, it took me 2 days to get an Passport processing appointment scheduled over the phone which ended up being over a month out.

I just recently had that appointment and everything was finally processed, paid and sent to the US State Dept. Now, I only need to wait another 11 weeks for them to return my original passport book with my passport card replacement and I’ll be made whole again.

You’d think in this day and age, a simple PP Card ‘replacement’ could be completed in at most a few weeks. Not a chance!

So as i try and type this, pussycat has decided i am warm and soft to sit on. Sigh.

Yesterday was so lovely we went out to help at the clubs CX race. Everyone was great meeting Robyn since they hadnt seen me in a few years (pretransition).

Admittedly I've been in contact with them on social media during this time.

We helped set the course up, helped with a bit of officiating until everyone got there and sorted out. Nobody even looked twice or any sideways glances. Just another woman helping out. Felt wonderful.

Now I want to race again ... lol

Anyhow next week I hope to finish all the documents and get the blumin stuff sent back.

Stay safe and hugs

Sounds like a good time Robin.  Time to get back on the saddle!!

It certainly depends on the country you are in and also probably the number of people they need to deal with.

However, documents are all certified, scanned and uploaded to the department.

Now we wait.

Stay tuned. Where's my drums i need to hit a few things ;)

Another milestone day.

I have been dreading getting a massage that i desperately needed for a year or two.

After talking to my hairdresser I decided to try the local massage place.

It turns out she was wonderful. In fact the previous month she had done a seminar/course on transgender clients.

I kid you not. It's like each of my steps has someone ahead of me making the way safe and confidence inspiring.

Government still dragging it's feet with certificate, so nothing new there.

One of the worst things the week before last was one of our beautiful fur babies past away. No more having this cute, expectant face waiting for me to come home and feed her. Never expected the water works I might add, so damned girly crying over a cat 😪.

Transition has been good in that regard being able to feel sadness and loss (which felt -crap- by the way), however to feel it (wow).

Lotsa hugs

Robyn

Me too.

Prints sent to FBI, SBI for background checks.  It could take awhile for the results, but can't do anything without them.

I'm curious as to what the background checks are for.

I'm working on a legal name change.  I need that among other things in NC.  I actually got the results today.  But I'm still waiting on the SBI stuff.

I'm so glad you found a place to have a massage.  Good for you.

I'm sorry to hear about your cat.  We certainly do become attached to our babies.  I love my girl cat.

I need background checks, affidavits of character from 2 (non kin) county residents, affidavit that I don't owe child support, birth certificate, ID, SS card, and maybe another affidavit - don't have the info in front of me at the moment.  Then I have to post my intent for 10 days, before submitting a petition with all that stuff.   After that it's still up to the court - they can refuse.

You have to do it in your home county, and can only do it once.  It's nowhere near that complex for marriages.

I may be wrong, but I think the gender marker change only needs to be signed by a heath professional.  My birth certificate is in another state where I can just request it to be "corrected".

Yeah, every state has its own rules.

Well ... the other week I came out to my ex.

She had already heard !!

Why on earth did I not think that it would have made it through the grapevine that is our small city. Since her son is friends with people where I work, it honestly never occurred to me that they would talk about me ... really I must be an idiot, LOL.

Anyhow she was okay and seemed to only interested in breasts and dressing up. So to allay her questions I use told her "yes the boob fairy has visited".

So all in all an okay coming out to her.

Omergerd what a insane chaos changing your name on everything from social media to utilities !

It's almost like no-one has ever done this, so many hoops to jump through.

Sometimes I wonder if it would be easier to cancel everything and start new accounts, sheesh.

New drivers license was the easiest thing, completely opposite to what I was expecting.

Anyhow just my ranting. Deep breaths and keep going.

I'm involved in this at the moment.   I think I have my ducks in a row, but I expect trouble.  It's an uphill battle sometimes.  People that think we do this stuff on a whim are crazy.

So it has been awhile and the fun never stops does it.

I had a few ups and downs emotionally. Somethings which I thought were buried turned out not to be. Its always the way isn't it.

So drivers license done, health insurance and medicare, tax done and banks changed.

The thing that surprises me, which I guess it shouldn't is how respectful all the people I have dealt with are.

There might be a slight pause as the wheels click.

With AFL being a big deal here, the fact that a high profile former coach has come out might have paved the way better for those of us not so fortunate to be able to command such legal and media presence.

Still it is slightly euphoric to see my real name on cards and correspondence. then of course the downside is knowing there's still so much to do.

Anyhow thank you for reading and stay true to yourself and YMMV ;)

Congratulations on such progress!  I remember almost trying to get a traffic ticket so i could share my name.  Years later i did get stopped and my "pretty" face and "sweet" talk got me out of trouble.

You may always get a bit of male to a dead name but it gets rare with time.

Hugs,

I'm working through this process myself.  And this has been my experience also.  I didn't expect it.

That has been my experience, also.  Most people are polite by nature and don't have any problem with others.  It is just a minority that give humans a bad name.

Congratulations, @Robin.C!

Time to check on the journey.

Have no had to change doctors and where I get my prescriptions. Which has caused a lot of stress. We as humans gets used doing something and change throws us so much. Still all done and I hope it becomes the new normal.

One thing I have found over the last few months is that it's a little bit awkward working on my cars now. There's these two things which get in the way now. Whereas I could slide under a car quite easily with the height a normal jack puts it up to (with stands to make it safe) I have to do a second lift now to clear a few things :😮

I'm a lot calmer. I might have mentioned it before. However now if something goes wrong I can easily move on and find another way to make it work. Oh except for THAT time of the month.

Something noone really told me would happen even with constant HRT there's still a monthly cycle. How odd. Anyone else get that ?

Lastly anyone know how women keep their nighties from riding up around their waist during the night. Is it because they have bigger hips to hold it in place or do they use staples/glue or nails !? :😀

Anyhow lotsa hugs

Robyn

I don't move around a lot when I'm asleep.  I tend to favor longer "granny" type nightgowns especially in cooler weather.  If I do wake during the night (for nature things) I adjust things if needed.

Probably unrelated…. In my days as a guy, I mostly slept naked.  Since I switched teams, I prefer the nightgown.

I suppose a shrink would have fun with me.

I sleep in the nude because my wife is always cold and needs lots of warm blankets.  But my preference is for pajamas instead of a nightie, for exactly that reason.  I got some nighties for when I went for GCS, since everyone coming into your hospital room wants to see the girl bits, but I don't wear them any more.

Yeah that's true.  Even leaning over a fender!  I am calmer now as well.  Not quick to anger as before.

smiles I think I need to help him find a way to simply love others, regardless of identifying with them or understanding their journey..but I thought I recall stories of Jesus being asked which of 10 laws were greatest..n the answer being 1. God us God n have no other gods you worship..asking forgiveness to friends who practice religions with polydieties..but I think catholic say 1 god..n the 2nd rule is almost as important..love each other as I have loved you   maybe if I can focus him on we all believe God wants us to love n help each..maybe he'll forget the footnote he seems to be inserting, unless they are lgbt..then they go to hell...nerd   sorry probably too politically charged..delete if so with my apologies  hugs to all who want them

So, I don't know what this is called, but it's kind of like when you see the boob bridging to the collarbone. I hate it. You can totally see I have a chest. How do I fix it and what is it called?   (I'm wearing an old gc2b binder I got from someone at school that is not my specific sizing, but it's all I can work with)

Nationally, sure.  But where I live, there aren't two large segments.  There's a majority, and a few who just don't fit and probably ought to move out.  I was in a nearby city a few days back, and I saw a billboard for the "Freedom From Religion" foundation.  That's acceptable there.  Here... folks would be making a bonfire.    I don't really see how the different sides CAN get along.  I see what goes on in California, and its like watching news from some alien planet.  It has very little to do with LGBTQ+ issues, really.  I can't live their way, I won't live their way, and I have no desire to compromise at all in that direction.  I'd prefer to be neighbors in separate nations, and I think folks would get along better that way.  I firmly believe the anti-trans stuff wouldn't exist here if we had a new republic of the Center-South area.  Even a micro-state of just my county and a couple others would be fine.    I get the giggles when folks think that Trump is somehow "far right."  Around here, he's a barely-acceptable centrist.  And by the standards of 100 years ago, its true.
    • Ivy
I don't think the Dems have a corner on division.  I do try to kinda keep up with the antics on Fox for 5h1+s and giggles. We have two large segments of the population, living in their own bubbles, with completely opposite views of our society, who never talk to each other, only at each other. People don't even want to get along with each other. We're tearing ourselves apart from the inside, while the rest of the world just sits back and watches.

Back again now it’s inevitable I must tell my wife for me to be happy and authentic wish me luck

Trying to decide if I am one.  Hmmm.  It depends on the definition.  The Democrats' definition dehumanizes them, whatever they are.   I would like to see a restoration of respect for America around the world, one Obama threw away.  I would like to see factories reopen whose jobs went overseas because people like BIden wrote legislation to create a tax structure than encouraged that.  I would like to see an end to the division that Biden and Obama cause and exploit for cynical political purposes.  I would like people to be able to express themselves without fear.  I would like honest news media.  I would llike to see the federal government not push us recklessly into debt.   If that makes me MAGA, I guess I am.
    • awkward-yet-sweet
You've never encountered the Oklahoma State Troopers, then.... it isn't far from reality.  I swear they've got half an army of cops just sitting around.  On I-40, they've got big concrete pads where they sit in the middle of the highway, sometimes a row of 8 cars in one spot.  I guess they've got money to burn....
    • Abigail Genevieve
I fenced my posting of the link.  Yep.
    • VickySGV
Good to hear about that case, but I believe Oklahoma is in the 11th Circuit COA region along with Texas which is going to find some way to nullify this decision as far as the Oklahoma law goes, just because - - - -
    • awkward-yet-sweet
That's a Circuit (Circus) court ruling.  Which is essentially temporary.  Most everything right now is temporary, as the Supreme Court hasn't gotten around to dealing with all the various trans-related issues from the last few years.  I really, really wish they would just bite the bullet and do their thing.  It would save us from the constant tug-of-war. "The sky is falling!".... "No it isn't.".... "But there's crap coming down."....."It landed east of here"  Whether it ends up being good or bad, I wish they'd just lance the boil and let us either have a tyranny we can fight against or a republic we don't mind living in.  Mediocrity is irritating.
    • awkward-yet-sweet
I'm sure there are some...there's just about every kind of person imaginable in our society.  And I suspect that a number of actual GOP politicians aren't really haters...it just happens to be convenient to go along.  Like most Germans in the early 20th century weren't actually anti-Semitic.  It was just that it didn't matter to them.    While I'm not friends with any politicians (well, other than local ones), the majority of folks around me aren't anti-trans.  And one of my two trans friends is a Trump supporter, with hat and all.  My other friend is a Democrat, and the three of us actually get along even when we talk politics.  Life is interesting.
