I don’t know…The stuff I saw when looking at shops in this area was… “up there.”  If you didn’t have any children to sell or couldn’t put an option on your soul, you probably weren’t getting the item. 😂

Some years ago I got dragged round a clothing "village" with a female colleague from work.  She showed me one dress which she liked, it was reduced by 70% in the sale, and, bearing in mind this was 25 years ago, the reduced price was £1,800 ( about $2,200 ).  You'd have to sell an entire orphanage to buy that !!!

But was it "FAB-U-LUS?  I haven't gotten that crazy yet but I'm the queen of thrift and consignment shopping.  Most of my wardrobe items are $100 or more at full price but I pay $5-$20 for them.

Oh wow, how did I miss you and @Jackie C. quitting jobs? Congrats to both of you.  Niamh I had no idea you were so under appreciated if you've vented before on the forum i missed it. Jackie, I know you weren't fond of the work.  So Jackie, any idea what you are going to do when you grow up?

I'm spending more time deciding what look than actually buying anything for that look, or dressing for that look.  Used to be which shirt, which trousers, 2 minute decision.  Now it takes me an hour to figure out what to wear.  I keep thinking of things I need to go with something.  I'm lovin' it.

This my outfit for the day. High temp today is 20F, so heavy tights were the obvious leg wear choice. My leather boots were a good choice for all the sloppy parking lots and sidewalks. They are easier to clean than suede.  Really messy walking around this morning.

Love it!  I should try the leggings and skirt combo you have going on there.  Not sure if I can pull off the boot style like you are.  I suspect I'm quite a bit shorter than you.  Definitely a stellar look you have put together though!  Hands down.

Well that does it.  I'm gonna have to look at finding a skirt closer to what @Sally Stone and @Elizabeth Star rocking.  If all the cool kids are doing it, I suppose I don't have a choice in the matter.  And can't call you Liz @Elizabeth Star?  Don't to jump the gun without knowing if it something potentially bothersome.  If we were using labels to describe an entire look, would this fall under goth or punk?  Or did they both have a kid together and it has the powers of both?  Is that skirt elastic on the waistline?  One of the issues I've been running into is finding something cute and in a style I like, but without belt loops on it, I can't keep it on with a belt if it's too large for my frame.  Love the jacket too.  I haven't tried anything with a cut above the midriff.  Honestly, I have this nagging fear in the back of my mind telling me it won't look good or come out just plain silly on me.  Where'd you find it?  Oh, the netting on your hands.  Is that a part of the shirt you have or something you can take off and use it with other outfits?  Love the collar.  I'm not against collars at all.  I have some myself, and it's working so well with the rest of the outfit.  I still don't know about the boots.  Like I told Sally, Imma short girl.  I have discovered it's difficult to find that style of boot in this area, and looking for my size is rarely an option for me even supposing I could find a pair. And my final observation isthe look as a whole.  Not just becasue it's great, but...I guess I'll say classy for lack of a better term...it manages to embrace that sort of style without looking too revealing or getting  buried under all the excess straps, chains, or whatever else is needlessly adding to the article in question.  It's coming off as the goth/punk look, but in an uptown, classy way.

You're good, Liz is also acceptable. My look does fall under the goth/punk umbrella. I got this particular skirt from Shein. Every time I wear it I'm afraid people can see my butt although no one has every said anything, not even at work. The fishnet is a separate crochet top I made. I also made the collar; I have a bit of  a dark side. I got the boots from Off Broadway shoes.  And thank you, I was going for a slightly more classy, only a little trashy look. I usually wear a lot of black clothing but wanted something with a little more style this time. I have another jacket covered with about 12 pounds of chainmail, corseting, charms and crosses . Making chainmail was a hobby of mine for many, many years. It can be a challenge finding clothes that fit and look right.

I don't think it's possible for anyone to read about you working with chain mail and find it anything but awesome.  I was also wholy ignorant of Shein, so a million thanks for helping me find more resoures when considering outfits and/or accessories!  I am going to go ahead and just blame you now for the sleep I likely won't be getting tonight.  Just in case I forget to later mind you.

 

As far as clothing goes, I did happen to find something at a thrift shop today.  I had been driving around looking for thrift shops and boutiques in the area.  I wasn't really expecting to find anything, but low and behold, this jumped out at me. And it was only $8.

You're welcome. If you order from Shein just make sure o check the size charts. With most tops I'm a size 10 but with Shein I'm a 1X.

 

You're whole outfit is really cute. Though it does look a little warm for Florida weather but I'd definitely wear it.

@Elizabeth Star I wholeheartedly embrace Sally's sentiment. I've been looking for a midriff leather jacket forever. They are either too large in the chest or way to short in the arms .  

@Lennethlove that thrift store skirt!  As far as boots for shorter legs- it sounds counterintuitive but go taller, over the knee length so they end up under your skirt if wearing a skirt or up to the thigh for pants . It will make you legs look longer. If you wear a size 10 or less just head over to DSW or other big shoe store to try some on. If bigger, then it gets challenging. DSW is still my go to because they have a clearance rack that often features larger sizes. Why? Because of the second reason I like them. You can order the larger sizes online and have them shipped to the store to try on. Don't like them? simply hand them back for a refund. Then they just put them out on the clearance rack.  If they sit there long enough they can be up to 70% off! I make it a habit of popping by any DSW I drive by. lol

Sorry I haven't contributed to the gallery here in awhile. I get my bandages off today and will get my hair done tonight so maybe I will feel up to wearing something besides PJs tomorrow.

This was me yesterday.  I was out plowing and wearing the clothes that I have.  The jacket and hat were gifts.  I apologize for the expression; the sun glare was extreme, and I couldn't even see the screen on the phone to frame the picture let alone work on my expression.  Two takes was all I could take.  I have a TeleMed meeting with my therapist today.  I want to understand why each morning I feel absolutely positive about continuing my transition while each evening I feel as if I can do without it.  A note on my appearance.  I am very deliberately working on my body so as to rock a maillot or two piece.  "Who knows what tomorrow will bring." (Joe Cocker, Jennifer Warnes and Maxine Green)  It's my hope that by sharing my story, I can better see others for who they are.

Something tells me you are not alone in the swings of feelings about transition and/or identity.   I for one, am nowhere near the contemplation of transition...  well, earnist  contemplation anyway.  I'm still trying to figure out were I land but yes, WILD fluctuations in certainly!  From "Of course, it so clear how could I have been so blind" to "This is crazy, I am crazy, people don't just wake up at 42 thinking they are a woman...  but did I thought?  Sure the ureka moment was instantaneous but the build up was there.". 

 

For me, the more I have to contemplate or interact with society, the more likely I am to doubt myself.

That must be tough to feel one way early and another late in the day.  I use to wake up and have terrible dysphoria in the mornings.( still do to a lesser degree)  I think it related back to when I would fall asleep as a child dreaming of waking up a girl and then being so disappointed when I still had the same body. Earlier in my transition I wouldn't turn the lights on, work my way to the shower and shower in the dark and shave without a mirror while showering. Get out with a towel wrapped around my lower half, put underwear on under the towel and then turn the lights on to do my hair and makeup.  (or pre-transition skip that). Mornings were tough for sure.  However, as the day goes on, I'm so caught up in life I don't have to think about my body/gender so it becomes background noise.  Bedtime was always challenging because of the dreams.

Now you are talking my language. I live for summertime and the fashions both pool side and in general. But here's my 2 cents on the "working on my body" part.  One thing I've learned from women and body shaming is summed up by this saying". Want to work on getting a bikini body? Buy a bikini and put it on. Now you have a bikini body.  Sure, work on you weight or muscle tone or figure if you want but don't let that stop you from wearing a bathing suit if you haven't achieved the "ideal" (at least in your mind) body.  I wore a bikini last year even before my boob job (and I had virtually no boobs naturally)  I put on a Brazilian high leg minimal coverage suit a couple weeks ago which showed a lot of rear end. Do I have a "great ass". hell no. But who cares. Wear things that make YOU feel good, not what others think "looks good on you"
